About this game

This virtual table top (VTT) is designed specifically for in-person play on a TV or monitor. Built from the ground up for use on a touchscreen. You will not find a VTT that is easier to use or your money back!

That's a joke, it's completely free. There is no logging in, signing up, or any other strings attached. I make money selling hardware. If you would like to support this project, please consider buying a touchscreen or TV frame from me on my website (digitaltabletops - Steam won't let me link directly).

It is meant to replace dry erase or paper maps, but not replace any of the other aspects to playing in person. For example, there are no character sheets or dice rolls. Whatever tools you use, including pencil and paper, you should continue to use.

Keeping only essential features makes this VTT the easiest to use. You place physical minis directly on the screen and digital tokens automatically keep track of their movement and lighting.

Players who can't be there in person can join via their web browser to move their tokens. No fiddling around with network settings, just enter the 4-digit code and you are good to go.

Features

  • Import any image, video (for animated maps), or uvtt (aka dd2vtt) file with built-in line of sight data

  • Dynamic lighting with fog of war, shadows, and time of day

  • Over 460 free maps are included

  • Built-in library of over 500 tokens or import your own custom tokens

  • One-of-a-kind touchscreen support (communicates directly with the hardware)

  • Remote control tokens via any browser

  • Add/remove walls, doors, and windows to any map

  • Easy map scaling and grid overlay

  • Collision detection to prevent movement into unexplored areas

  • Measuring tools for movement, distance, and spell effects

  • Blazingly fast on any hardware thanks to the Godot engine. No dedicated graphics required

  • Runs locally offline

  • Easily import maps from Foundry modules

  • Initiative tracker

Coming Soon

  • Import external lighting

  • Weather effects

If you are looking for a VTT exclusively for online play, this is not it. Hybrid play does work well, but it is required that the main program be running on a dedicated (low-end) device. If you are already using Foundry, Arkenforge, or Owlbear Rodeo and get along just fine, probably not a great idea to switch. But if you are just getting started out with VTT's and play in person, I honestly do believe this is an excellent choice.

Please bring up any questions, problems, or feature requests in the community links so that all may benefit.

    Fixing the last "fix"

I made a big long post about it here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3073720/discussions/0/581680955259117796/ Even pinned it as it is still technically not "fixed". Everyone can stop emailing me now please lol

    Bug Fixes

I fixed a few display bugs. One was a very old one that was due to a specific limitation of the game engine I use (Godot) not being "DPI aware" for multi-monitor setups. It was pretty difficult to figure out but it should be working now. That also will fix the grid missing bug some people were having. What was happening is Windows was scaling the display to below like 50 ppi. The easy fix was for a user to simply tell Windows not to do that. But people don't know to check these things so now the program finally handles it on its own.

    Minor bug fixes

Fixed a token/asset loading issue and the pixels per inch setting is now no longer synced to the cloud (since those devices likely do not share the same ppi)

    Very Big Update

First off: I have enabled cloud saves. You now have 10GB of free space thanks to Valve. It should sync maps automatically between devices, even cross-platform! But the bigger news is that I have enabled Steam Workshop support. It is incredibly easy to use: simply right-click the thumbnail for any map, token, or tile in the main menu. There is now an "Upload to Workshop" button. Click that and you are done. By default, all items are public, the description is the tags you've given them (or blank as the case may be), and the title is the filename. You can go in and change all these attributes from within the Steam Workshop. They are even tagged if they are animated (for maps and assets) or in the case of maps, if the map has wall data bundled. So you can filter results from within the workshop by those attributes. Pretty cool! You can access the workshop from Steam the usual way, or to quickly get there from within the program just click the "Free Maps" button from the main menu. You'll notice the old set of 500+ maps are no longer bundled there. It was a hard decision to remove the bundled maps but in the long term, I think it was the right call. I couldn't expand the selection quickly by taking the time to coordinate with artists directly to share content. Now anyone can share anything in just 2 clicks. I hope that the library quickly grows to far exceed the 500 that used to be bundled. I will be reaching out to those artist shortly to see what we can do about getting their content added to the workshop. If you want their maps in the meantime, here is a list of their websites where all of that content (and much more!) is available right now for free: https://www.tomcartos.com/ https://www.reddit.com/user/uchideshi34/ https://snowysmaps.com/ https://www.dmsguild.com/en/browse?authorName=Tessa%20Morecroft https://www.patreon.com/cw/zindanlar https://www.milbysmaps.com/ https://www.patreon.com/cw/MapleMapsDnD https://www.patreon.com/cw/CropoxBattlemaps Lastly: I have p...

    Dice Roller!

A few minor fixes but the bigger news is we now have a dice roller! To use it, simply click "Roll a D20" on the menu on the left. It will spin a D20 and show it on both the DM and player screens. You can pick from 3 colors in the settings from the main menu (not the settings during a session). This VTT is designed exclusively around in-person sessions on a large TV. So it is assumed that everyone is rolling their own die and using their own character sheet. But I thought it would be neat if the DM could spin a big die on the screen for everyone to see during a big climactic moment. To be clear: this VTT will likely never have any sort of integration with dice results, character sheets, things like that. There are already fully featured VTT's that handle that and also tools to fill the gaps if you are using this but don't want to use paper (we just use a spreadsheet). Please don't expect this dice roller to evolve much more beyond what it is right now. The individual frames were made by a real artist. The same on who made the tokens, actually. They only made full animations for a D20, so that's all I have. As always, let me know if any issues pop up and leave a review if you haven't already. Thanks!
