About this game

Developer Comments

Concierge is a challenging nonlinear game intended to reignite intrigue in even the most terminally cynical of internet natives. It is not strictly a puzzle game, and will require other skills. If you feel like you've seen everything and aren't sure how you can or should be contributing to the world, this introspective journey might be the one you're looking for.

About the Game

~~ WELCOME ~~
To a surrealistic adventure set in the space between curiosity and anxiety.

You awaken from a strange dream, finding yourself checked into room number 6 of a mysterious hotel. The concierge looks every bit as senescent as this god-forsaken place, but he acts like he knows you, so... who are you again?

Moreover, have you perchance seen any of the other guests around?

Just beneath the surface lies another reality. Shift your perspective.

The Parasonik camcorder will help you perceive what the naked eye cannot. Find clues, solve puzzles and seek the supernatural through this special lens. Secrets are scattered throughout every nook and cranny of the inn - you will uncover what is hidden, if you simply dare to look.

Your trials are ever-changing. Adaptation is key.

Play through 6 abstract levels with distinct mechanics and artsyles, inspired by classic games and cinema. There are no tutorials - you'll have to be resilient and trust your intuition to persevere.

You are the engine at the heart of all these enigmas. But what is the connection?

In this puzzling story, you are in charge of finding and putting the pieces together. Don't worry if you miss some - you're only human.

What else?

  • Unravel a mystery that's as otherworldly as it is close to heart.

  • Explore beautiful hand-painted rooms dense with secrets.

  • Nonlinear progression: Any way forward is correct.

  • Enjoy an unpredictable, genre-agnostic variety of (non-busywork) gameplay.

  • Tons of unconventional challenges that'll have you thinking outside the box.

  • Simple mouse controls: Left and right click only, context-sensitive.

  • Dozens of hidden achievements, cutscenes and puzzles. You won't find everything.

  • You can call for help if you get stuck.

  • Meet some funny animals with funny animal problems.

  • There are no monsters. Only people.

~~ ENJOY YOUR STAY ~~

    Quick riddle patch

Hi y'all, tiny update - there has been an issue with the riddle's anti-cheating mechanism giving false-positives, triggering erroneously with some older pre-release saves and in some circumstances where players reset their saves. Sorry for the inconvenience, it should all be working now! Also, fixed an object that was incorrectly displayed over another, as well as a few more typos. Please let us know if you find any more issues. Cheers, Yan

    The Second Update

Hello! Yan here, with an all-important second patch. First, some news about the bounty! The $500 USD Bounty - Extended Indefinitely! It's no secret that our game has yet to burst its extremely niche bubble to begin inhabiting the slightly-less-but-still-incredibly-niche ecosystem we believe it capable of. Our hearts and pockets remain hopeful!Anyway, one consequence of the as-of-yet low exposure is that no one correctly figured out the riddle in time. We talked to our publisher, and they've allowed us to extend the contest's deadline indefinitely. If you were eyeing that $500 USD prize and got on too late, or you weren't aware of it at all - now's your chance. It's still first come first served, so good luck finding and answering the riddle!Full Steam Deck CompatibilityConcierge is now (fully) Steam Deck compatible, even featuring deck-specific button icons. We're working on getting it approved by Valve so it may be shown as such, but you should be able to play through the game in its entirety without any issues already.A Heapload of ChangesHere's a list of a bunch of other improvements, big and small!Added the projector room, allowing the player to rewatch previous cutscenes in the endgame.Added new text to the ending sequence, and revised some of the existing text.Revised and improved text in multiple parts of the game, especially the scripts.Drastically reduced game size, from 6.7 GB to 2.4 GB, by optimizing video files.Added a sweet easter egg you can catch by watching the final scene a second theme.Added a new checkpoint system to both the second and third levels, which will save players' progress should they decide to exit and come back later. The second level now also features a color indicator on the clock to show if the player is making progress.Added a timer to the first and third levels, available in the pause menu after the levels have been completed at least once. This will help achievement hunters keep track of their run.Added a "reset" button to all (bu...

    An important first update!

Hi everyone, Yan here with an important first patch! It's been exactly a week and a day since the game's launch, and I've been super happy to see people starting to pick it up and enjoy it. I'll get to that, but first, I want to address something else - after gathering a lot of feedback from early players, I've gotten a much better idea of our audience's skillset, and identified a lot of the pain points in the game's progression. As such, I've compiled a patch that will make the play experience much better suited for the majority of players interested in the game. Here's a list of changes! The biggest point of frustration so far has been the platforming game, where the level of challenge was way overtuned. It has been toned down to be more forgiving, in conjunction with some of the other more dexterity/reflex-focused parts of the game, such as some segments of the final level. The beggining of the music level has been reworked, as some players were getting confused with the unclear rules. The new pamphlet on the ground, as well as the noise meter, should help give the player better feedback. The lights in the hotel now have the correct intensity - they were previously WAY too strong when you turned on the camcorder, which was not intended.Added some poignant content to the ending sequence, as well as fixed a bug where the sequence would not fade in properly. The concierge will now be less picky about when he accepts the suit (oops). Also, he has something to say about each of your items now! Probably nothing helpful though. The game will now save your settings properly (gamma, volume, language etc)Fixed a bug that allowed access to the rooftop mirror without the camcorder, causing unexpected behavior.Fixed a bug that would cause some of the subtitles in one of the car cutscenes to not show.Supposedly fixed the bug where occasionally a loud static noise would play during the orbs' level - it would only happen rarely and on some PCs, so if it's still happening, please let ...

    CONCIERGE is coming soon!

Hello!Yan here, dev for Concierge. I'm excited and anxious to announce that this weird egg of a project will soon be available to the public, when the game officially launches on September 17th. Check out the new trailer on our Steam page! In an era where it feels like all genres have been discovered and the main mystery is often whether the scary monster is behind this corner or the next, me and my partner Lucas decided to honor the fact that we have no shareholders to answer to and genuinely try to make something artistic and engaging in equal terms. Concierge is unique, yet strangely familiar. We set out to create an unpredictable game that respects your sense of curiosity, perseverance and intuition. It's a highly introspective and abstract journey meant to reignite a sense of intrigue in even the most terminally cynical of internet natives. There are many possible routes to take, tons of secrets to find, and no easy answers. We know it's not for everyone, but if the above sounds interesting, please give Concierge a shot! We've put a lot of love into this thing, so we're beyond excited to hear any kind of feedback. Hopefully your time with the game will be as satisfying as ours! See you on the inside, please wishlist our game and check-in starting September 17th!-Yan
