Katawa Shoujo

About this game

Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character.

The story is told through the perspective of the main character, using a first person narrative. The game uses a traditional text and sprite-based visual novel model with an ADV text box.

  Steamdeck Verified + Bugs

  We're pleased to announce that Katawa Shoujo is now officially Steam Deck Verified! Thank you very much to Valve for their review and approval. This verifies that Katawa Shoujo gives a good experience on the Steam Deck, including its text legibility, game controls, and interface. No reconfiguration is needed: just install from Steam and run, and your cloud saves will also come over. We've also pushed a minor fix to try and resolve continuing issues around achievements, external language patches, and achievements.   Katawa Shoujo 1.3.1c - Achievements and Unofficial Language Support

  We have pushed an update to resolve an issue with achievements not unlocking properly in some circumstances, as well as a full screen cursor bug. There is also now support for unofficial languages patches to be compatible with the Steam build - including German, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. You will need to download and install them externally - there is a list on the Steam forums here. Thank you so much everybody for all your support (人●´ω｀●)!!
