About this game
All aboard for A Bumpy Ride!
In this cozy, arcade train-driving & exploration game, you'll be tasked with managing a small railroad all alone. Drive the train, hire your crew, and take passengers where they want to go! Explore and reveal new areas on your map, spurred on by passengers' requests to go to places you might not recognize.
Inspired by game visuals of days past, this 19th century world is filled with pixelated whimsy!
With 30 paint jobs, 12 upgrades, and 9 staff to unlock, there's plenty of options to choose from!

A Bumpy Ride will be discounted for Steam's Train Fest!We're excited to share that A Bumpy Ride will be participating in Steam's Train Fest! This is the first sale since launch that we're participating in, and we're happy to report a 35% discount for the event. To coincide with the event, A Bumpy Ride will also be available in a Cozy Train Games Bundle, with the adorable game Islands & Trains! The bundle will include both games, at a 10% discount to whatever their current prices are. We hope this lets more folks purchase the game, and support another wonderful indie title! In Other News...We've mentioned it a couple times, but we are still working on one more update. We had initially wanted to get it out for TrainFest, but Josh and I just purchased our first home, and so our life has become very very busy! As a consequence, the update has been put on hold. Once we're settled in, we'll have more to share about the update as we get back onto the grind. Update: v1.0.7 is live!
Updates: Added free cam mode (available only after full in-game task completion). Initially this was developed for devs to capture in-game footage for trailers, but we decided to make this available for everyone. There are only keyboard controls as this was only intended for capturing footage on a computer. I recommend re-binding the WASD controls for the train to alternative keys (TFGH are what Nathaniel used), as the free cam uses the arrows/WASD keys to control. Camera Controls:F5: Toggle free cam mode F6: Toggle looking at engine F7: Toggle following relative to engine position WASD/Arrows: Movement Q/E: Up/Down Movement Scroll: Change camera movement speed Changes: Removed penalty for accidentally splitting NPC train Decreased "sight cone" size for NPC trains Decreased collision box size for NPC trains Increased freight dropoff zone size Allowing NPC trains to switch automatic switches Removed Shareholder request for avoiding all tunnels Reworked the deep forest "too dark to navigate" sequences & camera effects Added an NPC sight blocker at Aurora wye so it can be used for letting them pass you Updated Quest Line text to better hint at current tasks Updated Import/Export Menu with text stating all freight must be present upon delivery. A Bumpy Ride is now available on Nvidia GeForce NOW!
When we set out to make this game, we knew it'd be something that people with lower-end machines or laptops would want to play. When we found out about GeForce NOW, it seemed like the perfect solution for players who might not have the best machines! For GeForce NOW users, you should be able to search for and find our game quite easily by name! GeForce NOW is a subscription based game-streaming service by Nvidia, that lets you play games that have opted into the service on the cloud. All it requires to play A Bumpy Ride is the first paid tier, as we're an Install-To-Play title.
