About this game
Hogtie takes you on an award-winning journey as you step into the boots of Ted, a hero of the wild west whose trusty lasso is the key to success. This Sokoban puzzle game challenges you to think like a real wrangler with each level tasking you to round up escaped piggies scattered across different biomes.
Mechanics:
No Pushing in the Desert
These piggies will not be pushed around—they need to be dragged along using your lasso, introducing a new twist to classic Sokoban puzzle mechanics.
Lasso is the Safeword
Your lassos become your lifeline. You'll use it to drag the escaped piggies back to their pen, navigating through treacherous environments. Each level will challenge you with mechanics that put your lasso skills to the test, from avoiding deadly obstacles to strategically maneuvering around environmental hazards.
Every Step Counts
Earn up to three stars per level based on your movement’s efficiency. Whether you aim to solve puzzles with maximum efficiency or prefer a more relaxed approach, you decide the challenge to suit your own playstyle.
Dashing through the… sand?
Prefer a rugged look or a dash of wild west charm? How about a fabulously dashing suit or something that says more… “leather daddy”? Don’t worry, in Hogtie you can customize both Ted and his trusty steed to fit your own personal flair and style.
Dust off your boots, grab your lasso, and prepare to wrangle the wildest puzzles the west has ever seen. Are you ready to tie some hogs?

Devlog 4 – Crafting the Look and Feel of Hogtie
Yeehaw, art cowboys!Today we’re pulling back the curtain on the world of Hogtie – from the cartoony visuals to the customizable cowboy gear, and how it all ties into the game’s feel. The world of Hogtie is colorful, charming, and just a little bit silly – and that’s exactly how we wanted it. From the very start, we aimed for an art style that feels fun-first. That’s why we built our own cartoon shader and custom visual effects for liquids and rope physics. The wild west usually comes with grit and dust. We gave it bright skies, cute pigs, and charming animations. We wanted players to feel relaxed while playing – even when the puzzles get tough. The tone is light, approachable, and filled with personality. Our horse winks. Our pigs react when you lasso them. And our cowboy? Fully customizable.Yes, you can dress Ted up however you like. From classic cowboy to flamboyant leather daddy, Hogtie isn’t afraid to be a little weird and a lot of fun. And don’t worry – everything you interact with follows strict visual clarity rules: silhouettes are clean, colors are purposeful, and every interaction is animated to communicate feedback. We made this world to be inviting. We hope you’ll love hanging out in it as much as we loved creating it!Read full article on Community Announcements (Akiva_VII)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog 3 – Meet the Team Behind Hogtie
Howdy from the dusty trails of development! In this devlog, we’ll introduce the crew at Alacrity Studios—the small but mighty team behind Hogtie, and share what it took to bring our first title to life. We’re Alacrity Studios, a small, newly founded studio from a group of university friends and game jam regulars. Here's the team:Orhan Yavuz Erhan – 3D/2D Artist, Game DesignerLinn Jupiter – Project Manager, MarketingBurak Akdere – DeveloperAlina Kılınçarslan – DeveloperWe met at university (two of us even graduated top of our class!) and previously worked together in another studio. That chemistry helped us hit the ground running. Hogtie actually started as a game jam project that won first place out of 44 entries, and we were told: “You need to make this a real game.” So… we did. That’s not to say it’s been smooth sailing. Setting up our first Steam page and development accounts was new territory. And mid-way through production, Discord got banned in our country. That slowed us down more than we expected, since we worked remotely. But we adapted, switched platforms, and kept moving forward. We may be a young studio, but Hogtie is built with the same spirit that got us through that jam: scrappy, creative, and determined!Read full article on Community Announcements (Akiva_VII)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog 2 – Designing the Puzzles of Hogtie
Hey there, lasso lovers and logic cowboys!Today we’re taking you behind the scenes to show how we built Hogtie’s tricky puzzles, biomes, and the balance between fun and frustration. When we sat down to design Hogtie’s levels, one thing was clear: we didn’t just want puzzles that are "solvable"– we wanted puzzles that are satisfying to master.Enter our three-star step system. You can always complete a level in as many moves as you like, but earning all three stars? That’s the real challenge. Early levels gently introduce mechanics, letting you experiment. And soon enough, you're juggling ropes, pigs, switches, fences, and ice tiles in increasingly intricate ways.We also divided the game into biomes. Why? In a lot of puzzle games, difficulty just ramps and ramps until you hit a wall. We didn’t want that. Biomes give players a soft reset: fresh tiles, new visuals, and a break from previous mechanics. One biome introduces Thin Ice tiles that break after two steps. Another introduces Air tiles, letting pigs literally fly – adding a vertical layer to your strategies. Each biome is designed to feel like a breath of fresh (wild west) air.Our goal is always clear: make it feel like play, not punishment.Read full article on Community Announcements (Akiva_VII)
