About this game

Condemned to purge your death sentence, you and a group of fellow inmates are sent to Earth—a cursed, abandoned wasteland. Teleport to a location of your choice, scavenge for tools, and outlast the competition to earn your freedom. Manage your oxygen carefully, use every resource at your disposal, and, above all, avoid the curse that haunts the planet.

Marked by the curse, your mission is clear: pass it on before it consumes your soul. As the hunter, you must target one of your fellow inmates. Deceive them with lies, lure them into traps, or pursue them in a relentless chase. The curse grants you supernatural powers—soar through the air with powerful leaps, track others through walls, and hear their pounding heartbeats. But beware: the longer you remain cursed, the closer you edge toward oblivion.

Death is only the beginning. Consumed by the curse, your soul transforms into one of many ghastly ghouls, each designed to haunt the living. Crawl, fly, or sprint—every ghoul offers unique abilities to navigate the terrain and hunt the remaining prisoners. Master each form’s strengths, exploit their weaknesses, and join forces with the cursed to spread chaos and dread among the survivors.

Smoothing things out - Update 02
Update 02, the one that makes things run smoothly, is finally here. It took a little longer than originally planned and the reason why is addressed later down this post. This update should hopefully enhance the game's performance and bring it to a good place for most PCs out there. I also wanted to add a little something more than just optimizations, so there's a new option in the hub to change your color before the game starts. What's New:- Graphics SettingsYou can now lower the graphics if you have a hard time running the game. These settings are set to medium by default and should accommodate most hardware.- Color SelectionIn the lobby, you now have access to this new terminal that allows you to change your suit's color before jumping in the teleporter. What Changed:- Levels have been tweaked to run better on most hardware. Some areas and effects may not look the same.- The game will now ask for confirmation before closing if the Quit Game button was pressed during a match.- The pause menu now has a button to invite friends- Tasing someone will lift their visor- The curse can now replenish oxygen when picking it up What should be fixed:- Golem will no longer be able to grab someone if they're receiving the curse- Fixed an issue with the curse animation not playing while it's being passed on, resulting in one character standing up during the event.- Taser's sound effect should now play at the correct location when using a taser that was picked up off the ground What comes next for Forecursed:This segment will touch on some personal stuff and the state of the project as it is right now. I want to be completely transparent and tell it like it is. When I released this game, I wasn't expecting to reach the stars and become the next big thing, but I had set some fair goals for myself. Jumping in the world of indie development is scary, especially from a financial point of view. I'd very much like to be able to afford food and a place to live. With that being said, I'm ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Surox)Patch NotesOfficial
The one with the trains in it - Update 01
Update 01 is finally here! I've had such a blast watching and playing the game with the community on discord. I truly can’t express how happy I am to keep working on Forecursed and putting out updates like this one. Thank you to everyone who gave it a chance and took the time to try it out! This update brings more content to the game as well as bug fixes and some balancing tweaks. What's New: - New map: Station Dodge deadly trains and navigate through this dark, foggy level that takes place entirely outside. - New items: Taser, Paintball gun, B. Eagle and Net Trap Taser: A standard taser that will stun whoever gets hit. Risky, but it can save your life. Paintball gun: Shoots fluorescent paint, it will leave a mark. B. Eagle: A powerful handgun with a powerful recoil. Net Trap: It catches whoever steps on it in a big net, effectively turning them into a Piñata - New ghoul: Balloon A small creature that can launch its tongue and propel itself towards its target. If it latches on to you, you better find something to take it out before it's too late. What Changed: - Slightly buffed the curse's melee attack. It should be easier to land now. - Same with the Golem's melee attack What should be fixed: - Getting frozen while cursed, sprinting and out of stamina will no longer drain your health - the ice chunk formed by the freeze ray follows players more accurately - Fixed a bug that allowed players to clip outside levels using the rake - Catching someone with the cursed leap at close range now attaches players properly - Fixed loosing the ability to use the curse's melee attack if the animation got cancelled My next focus: I will now shift my focus on an important part of development that needs a lot of love: Optimization. I believe that there is a lot that can be done to improve this game's performance. I will be planning more content as well, but I'd love to stabilize everything before moving forward. As always, if you want to find a group to play with, you can join the F...Read full article on Community Announcements (Surox)Patch NotesOfficial
Fixing bugs and a look at the future
Hello world, It's been a full month now since release and the support has been amazing. The Discord community is slowly but surely growing and so are the lobbies! I'm hard at work on building the next update. First, lets go through what this current update brings and at the end I'll elaborate on things to come. This small update should fix most of the voice chat frustrations along with other gameplay bugs. You should be able to jump in a game and use your microphone without issues (just make sure you have the right one selected in the options). Here's a list of fixes: - Fixed having to mess with the input volume at least once before using a microphone - Fixed push to talk and toggle talk always muting players respawning as ghouls - Fixed push to talk and toggle talk always muting players when a game ends - Fixed players getting muted only sometimes after a game ends even when no push to talk is selected - Fixed Golem's ranged attack not working for the host player - Fixed Golem's ranged attack sound playing repeatedly for the host player - Slightly buffed Golem's ranged attack hitbox - Fixed a bug that allowed players to clip outside the mines when using a rake and a portal at the same time - Fixed cursed player having free movement if they stepped on a rake and triggered their death animation As for the next step, here's what I got in store: It will feature new items, a new map and a new ghoul. I had a lot of feedback to work with and I'm trying to bring to life some of the most requested things. This update should be coming out by the end of March. I will start testing things soon though, and so can you! I will host play sessions to test out the new content, join us on Discord for more information.Read full article on Community Announcements (Surox)AnnouncementsOfficial
Forecursed is out now!
This game is a work of passion. Now, I finally get to share it with you. This is probably the most stressful and exciting day of my life. It started as a simple idea from a childhood memory and developed into a chaotic, hilarious experience with monsters, rakes and pool noodles. There are so many things to work on, but first I want to say thank you for taking a peek at this thing. No one can predict the future, but I want to share some of my plans for this game. I've heard a lot of feedback and ideas while testing. I'm working hard on a new map with some cool new mechanics and also more interesting and unique items. A new ghoul might make an appearance soon too. Of course, there's still a lot of rough edges that I want to polish. If you ever find something that doesn't work or just feels wrong, you can report it on the discord channel. It'll help me out a ton. There's also the occasional sneak peak at future updates over there if you're curious. So yeah, that's pretty much it. Now go get cursed and have fun! Thank you for reading, William Van Herck. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45266146/df0ddc6e0dd680c9b9bc0042d5d6dce319692393.jpgRead full article on Community Announcements (Surox)AnnouncementsOfficial
Forecursed goes into Open Playtest!
Welcome I spent the last year working on this game and honestly, it feels like yesterday when I first launched Unreal and called the new project "Untitled Tag Game". Time flies when you're having fun I guess. Now we're here, and you're about to participate in this journey too. I'm so excited to see how this turns out. Hopefully everyone has fun and we can continue developing this game together as a community. Before you start slapping everyone with rakes You're about to get thrown in possibly one of the most chaotic games of tag you've ever played so a little word of advice first. In there, it's everyone for themselves and the last person standing wins. There are multiple ways of accomplishing this. You could use brute force, form alliances with other players, hide in a corner or do a bunch of other things. It's really up to you and how you want to play. Just remember that dead players can come back to mess you up, so I wouldn't make too many enemies if I were you. Bugs, Feedback, Questions and anything in between I want this game to be as good as possible. It's a very simple goal, but I can't do it alone. I need your feedback more than ever. If you encounter a bug or you have an idea, you can share it on the official discord channel. It'll be my pleasure to read everything. I'm building this game for you, so it's only fair that you have a say in the matter. The playtest will be open from January 26th to February 1st. Thank you for your time, good luck have fun, William Van HerckRead full article on Community Announcements (Surox)
