Dive into Oceaneers, a thrilling mix of action, adventure, and simulation where you build floating colonies and survive the dangers of a submerged world. Command your survivors through unique island environments, uncovering ancient tech while battling aquatic threats.
About this game
In Oceaneers, a survival-crafting colony simulation game, you manage a group of stranded survivors in a flooded world where sci-fi meets palm trees. With sinking islands, and scarce resources, you’ll need to grow an island colony, recruit new survivors and protect them from dangers on both land and sea!

SURVIVE ON FLOATING ISLANDS
The ocean is scattered with floating islands powered by Float-Tech. Build devices to resurface them to haul back to your colony. Collect the best islands to deploy and create a thriving settlement.

Harvest, Scavenge, Survive
Harvest and scavenge resources to build a colony that can sustain your survivors. Supplies are scarce, so you’ll need to brave the ocean and journey far to keep your stockpiles up.

Colony Management & Needs
A steady food and water supply is essential to meet your survivors' needs, but don’t forget about waste. Spoiled food and survivor mishaps must be managed while you establish fertilizer production and crop farming.

Send Rafts on Expeditions!
Send survivors on expeditions, then take direct control once they arrive. Discover new biomes, resources, blueprints, and unique story items as you explore the seas. Locate the best islands for your colony!

Science Starts with Float-Tech
Research primitive contraptions, and uncover strange Float-Tech devices from an old-world corporation. With a wide and deep research tree, you decide how and when your colony advances.

Your Colony, Your Characters
Create characters with distinct skills and traits to form a well-rounded colony. With plenty of hairstyles, beards and mustaches, you’ll grow attached to your survivors and their journey.

Fend Off Threats Above and Below
Protect your colony from harsh weather, and threats on land and sea. Fortify your rafts, weather-proof your buildings and set up countermeasures against food-stealing seagulls, foot-pinching crabs and raft-wrecking sharks!

Explore Island Bunkers, Story Included!
Deep within floating islands lie bunkers filled with corporate secrets, unique resources, weird technology, and pieces of a larger story. Build access hatches and explore their hidden depths.

Features:
Control multiple characters in this single player experience.
Directly control characters and set up automated tasks.
Design multiple rafts and send survivors on expeditions.
Haul islands back to your colony to expand your island home.
Improve island buoyancy with contraptions that keep islands afloat.
Research and unlock advanced workstations and upgrades.
Survive against weather events, and threats on both land and sea.
Farm crops, prepare rations and cook meals.
Customize your survivor names, traits, hair styles... including beards & mustaches!
Uncover the deep sea storyline plot alongside the survival journey.

New "Ranged Combat & Stink Worms" update on the public test.
Ranged Combat & Stink Worms - We're gonna a need a bigger bath! The new Range Combat & Stink Worms update, complete with new tech and feature updates, is now on the public test branch for you to try right now. It will spend a short time there so we can gather your feedback and watch out for any significant bugs to squash. As with any new version, we always recommend making a new save of your currently colony. How play this update on the public test branch right now:Developer Note:There's a bunch of fun things in this update, let's dive right in!The big ticket item is a combat overhaul, now supporting ranged and unarmed combat... we've also implemented combat automation settings, so you have a lot of control over what your colonists do when you aren't manually controlling them.Unfortunately, Marcus was exploring a bunker and inadvertently released some Stink Worms into the wild! Jokes aside, we're really excited to bring these new creatures into the game as they are the first part of our new behavior system. They don't just randomly spawn, they have a preferred habitat, so based on the conditions of your islands they may decide to move in and cause an infestation, and you may find infested islands at expeditions.Long term we plan on improving the behavior of other wildlife with similar systems, so that there is an emergent ecosystem going on while you play that can lead to interesting things happening. You could even use these behaviors to your advantage... maybe you want a stink worm island to farm?Another big aspect of this update was reducing grind in some areas. We’ve been trying to identify areas that feel too grindy or tedious, this patch addresses a few issues but we would really love to get more feedback on this – if you have any thoughts or any areas that feel to grindy please let us know!Overall we want to you to get to expeditions earlier, explore bunkers earlier and find interesting things. You'll find some new floating wrecks of part of this, and we've adde...Read full article on Community Announcements (Barrel Smash Studios)Patch NotesOfficial
Oceaneers Early Access Roadmap Update
Park your raft and sit back, we've got some roadmap details for you! We're just over four months since early access release. In that time we've been consistently putting out updates for the game, with new features, content and improvements. After keeping a close eye on feedback, we've revisited the roadmap and expanded it with some extra features we think you will all enjoy.State of the GameThere's already heaps to do in Oceaneers. The current game mode is the story-mode, allowing you to play the complete story from start to finish with a wide range of tech to research and build. Players have been getting 50+ hours just from this mode (many players surpassing 100, even 150 hours). It's exciting that players are enjoying the game and getting so much out of it as there is still lots more planned!Having said that... Even though players are getting plenty of playtime out of the game, one aspect we want to improve is progression speed & resource gathering speed. We aren't aiming for this to be a super grindy game, so we still have some balance to do in this area. Ultimately we're just trying to find the right balance so that skill levels feel like they are impactful. Please be sure to let us know of any areas that feel too grindy or tedious, your feedback helps immensely.Below, we'll go into a little more detail on some of the items on the roadmap.Ranged Combat - Coming Soon!We are currently working on update 0.1.5 which introduces ranged combat, and it's feeling pretty good. We'll also be adding new automation options to give you more control over how your colonists behave when getting attacked and attacking. To make the transition from ranged to melee combat nice and smooth, we also implemented unarmed combat. Then we went crazy and took this a step further, adding a new occupation based around melee combat, and changing the Tree Puncher trait so it now levels up! If you've been dreaming about creating a colony of ocean dwelling warrior monks, you'll want to keep an eye o...Read full article on Community Announcements (Barrel Smash Studios)Patch NotesOfficial
"Modules, Building Grid & CUBERT" update out now!
Modules, Building Grid & CUBERT - Things Are Getting Weird! It's patch time! (Full patch notes below). As with every new patch, we highly recommend doing a "save as" to create a new save file. The new update is now live! Complete with new tech, overhauled building system, movable buildings, upgradable modules and more! Developer Message:This update improves the building system with a building grid, and makes building placement much clearer. We've also added the ability to move buildings, allowing you to swap to new islands much easier. Currently moving a building is instant, in the future there may be a "re-construction" time component added, but we'll see how it feels first. This update also extends tech, allows you to upgrade bunker modules, craft bunker modules, adds new loot, and enables the CUBERT device in your bunker.Modules:Bunkers can now be upgraded to have up to 4 module slots, and modules stack! This allows you to start focusing islands on a particular task (e.g. a farming island, a production island etc). As part of this we've also added some new module types that you can find, and a new very late-game building that allows you to make your own modules. There's even a couple of new "EX" modules. These are Float-Tech's experimental modules that, they are unique (so you'll only ever find one), can only be found as bunker loot, and, they can alter game mechanics. We've got more plans for additional "EX" modules in the future, and we're probably going to get a little weird with them!New Island & Island Loot:A new bunker, 165, is the latest in the mass produced bunker series that has been discovered. This bunker is 3 levels and contains 3 storage lockers, so stock up on maintenance tokens and get that loot! The highest island rating is also now 5A. If you're lucky enough to find one you'll be blessed with good buoyancy ratings.Regarding loot, we've updated loot tables so that loot is more rewarding, you'll even find backpacks and perhaps a super rare "EX" module.CU...Read full article on Community Announcements (Barrel Smash Studios)Patch NotesOfficial
New "Modules, Building & CUBERT" update on the public test.
Modules, Building & CUBERT - Things Are Getting Weird! The new Modules & Building update, complete with new tech and feature updates, is now on the public test branch for you to try right now. It will spend a short time there so we can gather your feedback and watch out for any significant bugs to squash. As with any new version, we always recommend making a new save of your currently colony. How play this update on the public test branch right now:Developer Note:We're excited to bring new content, improvements based on feedback and a new building grid system that takes the guesswork out of building placement. This update also addresses some issues that players were running into when research progression got ahead of the story progression. An additional warning is now shown with the buildings that require higher tier resource (e.g. hardwood/strongwood) that should hopefully clear that up. We've also made some adjustments to the main bunker to block off the lower level and keypad until it becomes relevant in the story, as this was causing some confusion. We will post the full patch notes and details when this is pushed to the live release. Here's a summary:Dig Up Water Pools: This highly requested feature is now here. Don't worry, we'll come up with new ways for you to get Dysentery!CUBERT: The Cube Resource Transformer seen in your bunker is now operational, allowing you to generate science cubes.New Building System: Overhauled building system, with new grid snapping and placement footprints. Move Buildings: You can now move buildings. Easily relocate to your newly acquired island!Module System: Island Module systems can now be upgraded to support 4 modules at once, and, they are stackable!New Modules: 5 new module types are available (with multiple tiers), including new experimental "EX" class modules which can only be found as bunker look and have unique effects.New Island: Bunker 165, the next tier of the mass-produced Float-Tech Series 160 island has appeared. "Face Slapping" hotfix!
We discovered this bug thanks to Hirnsturz during German coverage on Twitch and YouTube (very entertaining, be sure to watch and follow on YouTube here )If your save game from the previous patch had characters in the middle of sleeping, in the new patch those characters would retain the old sleeping condition and as such would keep their sleeping face throughout the day! This is now fixed :)Patch Notes (0.1.3N)Fixed issue where characters had a sleeping face, if you loaded a game from old version where those characters were in the middle of sleeping. This was due to new conditions for sleeping with the new lighting system.German Translations & Other TranslationsRemember, you can check the official Workshop (https://steamcommunity.com/app/3052510/workshop/) for community made translations.
