Haven & Hearth

Content notice: Haven & Hearth holds itself to a generally high level of decorum, and does not strive to shock or titillate its audience, however; - Player characters in the game can be dressed down to their birthday suits. - Some drugs are depicted in game. - Natural animal reproduction is, comically, represented. - Player characters can die. Haven & Hearth also, however, being fundamentally an online game played with other people, and allowing for conflict between players and their factions, has the following characteristics; - Interactions with other people in game are not pre-moderated. Mean words can be spoken, and evil deeds undertaken. - Player-versus-Player combat is free, mostly open, and cannot be opted-out of. - Free building and landscaping by players allows for artistic expressions in many of its potential forms. Beauty, truly, lies in the eye of the beholder.

About this game

Haven & Hearth is a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game) set in a fictional world loosely inspired by Slavic and Germanic myth and legend. The game sets itself apart from other games in the genre in its aim to provide players with an interactive, affectable and mutable game world, which can be permanently and fundamentally changed and affected through actions undertaken by the players. Our fundamental goal with Haven & Hearth is to create a game in which player choices have permanent and/or lasting effects and, thus, providing said players with a meaningful and fun gaming experience.

    Game Development: World 16.2

We've been developing, and here's what's new... {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/007537acdf9eb08ea6a1b39ad3836e2fedff427f.png New World Launch ----------------------- Tonight we end World 16.1 and launch a new world in its stead, W16.2, as first announced here! World 16 continues uninterrupted. Worlds 16 and 16.2 will run concurrently until further notice. The choice on which world to play will be made with the Wizard during character creation. We have made no changes which should impair custom clients. This post contains an updated, non-exhaustive, change log. Much has been left to the joy of discovery. Payment Model ----------------------- Nine new hats have/will been/be added to the store! Thank you for your consideration! All Bronze subscribers will be given the "Dark Tricorne" hat, free of charge. All Silver subscribers will additionally be given the "Popcorn Hat". All Gold Subscribers will additionally be given the "Honeypot Hat". Changes Only Applying to W16.2 ----------------------- Map & Time Single spawn continent Time factor has been restored, relative to World 16.1, to 1.0, same as on World 16. Wounds, however, heal faster than even on World 16.1. PvP Removed the rule, active in World 16.1, by which it was possible for a character to pass through gates while in combat if not having bought the "Rage" skill. It is, in 16.2, quite simply, not possible to pass through gates while in combat. It is no longer possible to enter locked houses while in combat. Entering a house/pocket world will no longer initiate the timed dropping of combat relations with people outside of the house/pocket world. Combat relations are maintained over world boundries as per normal, provided you remain close enough to maintain them. Note that animals will still drop combat relations as per usual. Stolen items can no longer be tracked. This as they were mostly used as tracking devices. Reduced the cost of "Rage" from 50k LP to 10k. Suggested here Hunger Hunger is reduced once weekly, on F...

    Game Development: Village Bomb

We've been developing, and here's what's new. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/70ba37dba7bd74f2d583bed2651cf5bbd3b84fe5.png New Implementations ----------------------- Reworked the handling of membership in political entities, primarily affecting villages. It is now possible to be a member of multiple villages. All political actions specific to a particular village (or Realm, technically) have been moved away from the action menu to buttons, instead, in the "Kith & Kin" window, where you can now select the entity which you wish to manage in a dropdown menu. Characters can now be described to Villages just as you would describe them to another character. (Simply select the person in your buddy list -> Describe -> Click the Village Idol) This allows villages to set and manage permissions and groupings for non-member characters. "Invite" permissions in the village are required to describe a character to it. Realms have technically been reworked in that their actions have also moved from the action menu, but it is not possible to be a member of multiple Realms, nor is it possible to describe characters to Realms. Learning Points earned by a character who is a member of multiple villages will be split evenly between them. Key Fixes ----------------------- Reworked "Field Cairn"s a bit Can now be administered while you are on its plot, sparing you the trouble of walking up to it. Can now be initiated for plot placement purposes without walking up to it. Made them slightly easier to destroy. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/1f58c2f30e682ba1baaf1b0be5cb6ddbab7a27de.png As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch. Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $7, is the "Bomb Cap". {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/948f6fa9ac3e3acb0b3379d28d2a6728ed2b488a.png$7 Whatever else can be said about this cap, it is pretty clear that it is, indisputably, the bomb. All Gold & Silver subscribers have been awarded the "Bomb Cap", free of charge. In the Pipe ----------------------- This is ...

    Prelude: World 16.2

We've been developing, and here's what's new... {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/bdaa6b3320b4b7ffcb208d0045a3c25afc309ed7.png World 16.2 As was announced at the start of World 16, we intend to launch the next new world — World 16.2 — without resetting World 16. This post is to inform you that that, indeed, remains the plan, and that we intend to launch World 16.2 on Friday, August 14th, 2026 @ 19:00 UTC. Worlds 16 and 16.2 will, then, run concurrently until the threads of their fates again unravel. World 16.1 will end with the launch of World 16.2. Notable Changes in W16.2 The exact changes are still pending at the time of this writing, but: Single continent spawn Changes to disempower characters without "Rage" in combat. The current line of thinking is to make it possible to "evict" characters without "Rage" from more or less anywhere. Reworked system for Gildings. A series of other changes, big and small, will, as usual, be left to the joy of discovery. TL;DR: We will aim to launch the... W16.2 server @ 19:00 UTC, Friday August 14th, 2026

    Game Development: Pfefferbench

We've been developing, and here's what's new. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/67a75691392a8f3c209bed01cff9c2c5168ea6a2.png New Implementations ----------------------- Added "Hasenpfeffer", food item. Key Fixes ----------------------- Reworked the crafting input menu such that: You can hold an item, and left-click an input slot, to limit the slot to only take items of that type. You can also limit an input slot to a particular input type by shift-left-clicking with the slot's input selection cursor active. (I.e. Left click input slot -> Shift-Left-Click a "Chantrelles" -> Slot is now limited to "Chantrelles"). Added recipe search by input. In the "Action Search" menu, at the bottom, there is now a "Search by ingredient" button. Clicking this, and then some input type, presents all known recipes which accepts the item in question as input. "Mortar & Pestle"s can now be placed on "Alchemist's Table"s. Made it so that equippable tools placed on work-benches can be used directly/implicitly, without going through the lolercoaster of manually equipping them. This currently works for "Smithy's Hammer"s placed on "Anvil"s and "Mortar & Pestle"s placed on "Alchemist's Table"s. Note that a manually equipped tool will always have priority over a tool equipped to a work-bench. Small Fixes ----------------------- Since my "Mound Bed"s ran out in the dead of winter: Reworked "Mound Bed" such that they can be replenished whenever they are below full levels of water/mulch. Should a "Mound Bed" deactivate due to running out of mulch/water entirely, it will need to be fully replenished before it activates again. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/1f58c2f30e682ba1baaf1b0be5cb6ddbab7a27de.png As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch. Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $7, is the "Zombie 'Shroom Cap". {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45223854/cecaaec074df3d052a2c4a05280372d016a1837f.png$7 Ever since this terrible bloom sprouted from your skull, you have felt an irresistible urge to clim...
