Navigate the tense corridors of Separated, an indie action game where you and your friend must communicate through voice chat to solve puzzles from opposite ends of connected houses. Evade a blind presence lurking in the shadows as every conversation could be your last chance for escape.

About this game

Note: Separated is a co-op only game (2 players have to own the game to play together). It heavily relies on voice chat communication. A microphone is required and headphones are highly recommended.

You and your friend are trapped in two connected houses. You have to communicate to solve puzzles with two different perspectives.

There's a blind entity roaming around. Whenever you hear it, you have to be very quiet or it will come for you!

Can you escape the clutches of the entity before it's too late?

    Fixing Crucial Issues

Hi, again! We know it’s been a while since our last update. We’re currently working on a big update that’s taking a little longer than expected, but we had to push a patch sooner to address some crucial bugs and issues.Bugs:In no ghost mode: In Level 4, fixed an issue where an item could be placed in an unreachable area, making it impossible to win.Fixed an issue where Ghost Girl’s footsteps sounded the same when walking on stairs, Floor 1, and Floor 2. Now you can more clearly distinguish which floor the ghost is walking on and whether she is on the stairs or not.Fixed being unable to switch between story notes while in lobby. As usual, if you have any questions, you can post about them in discussions and also join our Discord and post them there.Yousef BadrTwisted Realm

    Balancing & New Difficulty Options

Hello again! In this week's update, we've decided to refine the AI's behavior and introduce clearer difficulty options for players of all skill levels.ChangelogMade the Ghost's behavior more consistent by having her stick to one side of the wall when navigating corridors.Tied the difficulty to the Ghost and added two more difficulty levels. The available Ghost Aggressiveness settings are now No Ghost, Minimal, Normal, Aggressive, and Nightmare.Made the No Ghost difficulty unlock levels for players who just want to solve puzzles without the headache of dealing with the Ghost.Made the Ghost rest before changing levels instead of only resting after a player gets caught. Resting time has also been increased depending on the difficulty and level.Added two extra achievements:Fearless Escapists: When you escape Level 4 with the Ghost set to Aggressive or higher.Masterminds: When you escape Level 4 with the Ghost set to Nightmare.Improved the Chinese (Simplified) translation with the help of 希克君.Bug FixesFixed a bug where the Note Inventory could render outside the game window on some resolutions.Fixed an issue where the doll could be picked up and burned while the Ghost was resting or in the other house. What's nextWe are planning to add an ULTIMATE mode with a leaderboard! This mode will contain all puzzles and have multiple escape routes available at once. We are also aware that the microphone threshold is causing some audio to be cut off, and we are looking for a solution to this problem. This should be the last update before we start working on the new map.If you have any feedback or suggestions, please contact us through the game's Discussions or our Discord server!Yousef Badr & Youssef FekkyTwisted Realm

    Difficulty Balancing

We Keep Refining!Hello again! Based on your feedback, we balanced the difficulty across all levels, especially Levels 3 and 4. We will continue balancing the game.ChangelogIn Normal mode, we removed the mechanic that made the ghost angrier over time during the same session, as it felt unfair since puzzle solutions are randomly generated.Increased resting times. In Level 3:Lowered the time required to hold the garage door open to escape. In Hidden Symbols with UV Photos: Made the locations shown in the Polaroid photos more apparent. In Level 4:Removed the Safe puzzle. What's nextWe are aware of players' frustration with the ghost and its inconsistent behavior, and we will address this issue thoroughly in the next update, which will be released very soon. We will also make the game more accessible by adding the following modes: Puzzles-only, Easy, Normal, and Hardcore, and heavily tune the puzzles and ghost behavior for each difficulty to ensure a satisfying experience for everyone.Yousef Badr & Youssef FekkyTwisted Realm

Major Changes & New Difficulty Modes

We are here and faster than EVER!Seeing our players unhappy with the game or frustrated isn't something we can tolerate or allow. From all the reviews we received, we concluded that many of you have trouble understanding the puzzles and their solutions with the ghost constantly on your back. Overall, the ghost is frustrating. So we decided to address these issues WITHOUT ruining the game for the players who enjoyed this tough experience. So we did the following:Major ChangesSignificantly increased session duration across all levels. We reduced the ghost's aggression across all levels and game modes.Increased the time required for the ghost to enter the next aggression phase, which previously happened too quickly.Increased the ghost's resting time after catching a player.Added two more game modes, making a total of three, now available in the lobby:Practice: Learn the environment and puzzles without the ghost.Shorter time limit, so the time factor is still there. This doesn't unlock the next level since we want winning a level to feel like an accomplishment, a satisfying WIN. This mode is more for practice, so you can learn everything about the level and its puzzles without the headache of dealing with the ghost. We want to hear your feedback about this mode.Normal (The New Default Mode): Your mic doesn't alert the ghost, so you can now describe the puzzles in detail and understand them more easily.Hardcore (The hardcore experience intended by the game designers): Same as Normal mode, but your mic DOES alert the ghost. For new players, deciphering the puzzles will be harder, and communicating in this mode will be tough.Further adjusted ghost footstep sounds, making it easier to hear her and stop talking or interacting before she hears you, especially when you're on different house floors. What's After This Update?Based on your feedback, we will decide if designing a proper 4-level campaign puzzle-only mode is worth it. It must be engaging and fun, not a boring snooze fest...

This will be addressed more thoroughly in the next update.Redesigned the PC keyboard puzzle timer to make the puzzle much less frustrating and more enjoyable.Reduced the number of drawers throughout the house to a maximum of two per room, making important items easier to find.Additionally, if you're having trouble understanding any puzzle, we've put together a guide to help you: Puzzle Guide in EnglishThis hotfix focuses on addressing the most urgent issues as quickly as possible.
