Oct 12 v1.0.6 Update Notes (only affects locales using decimal comma)

Fixed a silent but game-breaking bug when parsing numbers in locales using decimal comma. ATTENTION: If both of the following apply to you, your save file may have been corrupted. Your PC's locale uses comma (",") as the decimal separator, e.g., "0,5" means "half." (Most European and South American countries. This is a Windows system setting, irrelevant to the language you have chosen in-game.) You reached Chapter 2 before this update was applied. If you answer "No" to either of the above, this bug doesn't affect you and you may stop reading. For those affected, please do the following to continue playing: Update the game to v1.0.6 (the version can be found in "Credits," lower left corner) Download the official save files from the link below. This save was created right after entering Chapter 2 Move both save files (.json/.jpg) to `C:/Users/ /AppData/Roaming/escape_everlit_game/` (If the above path does not exist, try replacing `Roaming` with `Local` or `LocalLow`) In game, load this save (#3) to continue playing. (This save assumes Fi didn't give Yin the fingerprint model in Chapter 1.) Save file: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TDMlfuXRjxeAJBsKkMSTHPkHhuSZCrGY?usp=sharing Sincere apologies for the possible loss of progress and inconvenience. Below is more detail on this issue if you're interested. Q: What happened? A: The dialogue system used in Escape Everlit is an older version of Yarn Spinner Godot. This version has a bug that incorrectly parses float numbers in locales that use decimal comma. Details: https://github.com/YarnSpinnerTool/YarnSpinner/issues/369 . The only Yarn Spinner float number used in Escape Everlit is a game progress indicator. By silently parsing something like "2.5" incorrectly as "2" in these locales (because "2,5" is expected), the dialogue system effectively blocks game progress and triggers unexpected dialogues. Q: Why haven't you found this bug earlier? A: All my playtesters and I are in locales using decimal point ("2.5"). So...

    Escape Everlit is Now Live!

It's here. Finally.20 months ago, I quit my job to do something fun. Back then, I knew nothing about game development. I'd never had any formal training in art or music, nor solid end-to-end software engineering experience. All I had were a few unpublished short stories. But I was a gamer with over 30 years under my belt. I believed I could make it—so I went all in. After 2,742 hours of joy, self-doubt, and simply, work, I present this point-n-click narrative-oriented adventure:9-10 hours of gameplay4 playable protagonists trapped on a secret island22 interconnected supporting characters10,000+ lines of dialogue5 distinct area maps4-5 different endings My goal from day one was to tell a unique, compelling, and grounded sci-fi mystery with an ensemble cast—a story with intricate structure that could only be told through the interactive medium of video games. This kept me going through the whole solo development, without a publisher or even outsourcing.I can honestly say I've created something I'm satisfied with.Players who participated in beta testing or tried the demo have also given many positive feedbacks: "What an amazing story!" "Personally, I think the story is every bit as good as *** (well, an excellent game in this genre)" "There are so many unconventional creative mechanics" "The puzzle hints are really thoughtfully designed and user-friendly" and more.If it can deliver a unique experience to you too, that would make it all worthwhile. The game is now available on Steam with a 10% launch discount. Windows OS only.(Almost all art and music assets were created using commercially licensed generative AI services. If you're interested in narrative adventure games but have concerns about the quality of AI-generated content, please try the demo. It's the first (approx.) 90 minutes of the game, and your save file carries over seamlessly to the full version.)

Escape Everlit to launch on July 31st! Demo updated (save file compatible)!

Hey there, I'm ash from Lantao Studio, a solo gamedev. After a year and a half of development (2,700 full-time work hours), "Escape Everlit" is finally set to officially launch at the end of this month. The beta testing process has garnered wonderful reviews, giving me confidence to say: "This sci-fi suspense interactive story has been told well." Although the dev time ended up being three times my initial estimate, seeing this unique work come together in its complete form makes every struggle in the creative process worthwhile. The game previously participated in Steam's October Next Fest last year. (Yes, two more Next Fests have passed since then.) While the demo released at that time has remained available for the past nine months and I've made numerous adjustments based on collected feedback, the demo itself hasn't received any updates. This updated demo, besides being more polished, covers roughly the same story section as before—the first chapter and the first half of the second chapter, approximately 1.5 hours of story setup. The full version runs about 9-10 hours. Save files from the new demo are compatible with the full version, but not with the previous demo. After purchasing the full version, you can seamlessly load your final autosave from the demo to continue your journey. I hope the new demo will help undecided players determine whether this game, which fully utilizes AI-generated art and music, meets their expectations. The demo will remain available indefinitely. If you enjoy narrative/text-driven games, please give it a try. If you find it appealing, feel free to add to your wishlist—you'll receive a notification when it launches. Thank you!
