Explore the joys of horse care and management in EQUIRE, an indie simulation where you can shape your own ranch or compete in thrilling races.
About this game
Take on the challenge of building and managing your dream horse ranch. Ride in competitions to rise through the ranks and become one of the best, or focus on creating the perfect experience for your guests to attract them in masses. Become a renowned breeder who sells horses worldwide, or simply enjoy a cozy life with the horses on the estate you always dreamed of. Whatever you choose, the world is yours!
Experience horse-riding gameplay that combines realism with fun. If you’re up to the challenge, compete in show-jumping and cross-country events that are easy to learn but hard to master. As you and your horses improve, you can enter more advanced competitions and fight for greater rewards.
EQUIRE combines large-scale building from a top-down perspective with precise placement of smaller objects in first-person. This gives you all the tools you need to build the horse ranch of your dreams. Whether that means creating a breathtaking resort that guests never want to leave, or a personal equestrian retreat where you can unwind after thrilling competitions or the stress of everyday life.
Owning horses and running a ranch is more than just riding. Breed, train, and trade horses as you plan the financing of your next building project or horse purchase. Open your ranch to visitors and choose activities that match their interests. Hiring the right staff not only affects many aspects of your ranch but also helps remove gameplay that would otherwise feel like a chore.
In EQUIRE, your estate sits within a protected nature reserve threatened by a global oil company seeking to exploit its resources. As you expand your ranch, the money and reputation you earn allow you to reclaim increasingly large areas of the reserve. Explore diverse biomes on horseback, clean up the damage left behind, and rebuild the reserve’s infrastructure.

Dev-Update 12
Hi everyone, since the temperature inside my room is currently high enough to slowly cook my brain (and therefore prevent any particularly deep programming sessions), I figured this would be the perfect time to give you an update on EQUIRE's development. Lately I've been back at work tackling many of the issues that came up in playtest feedback. Here are some of the biggest problems I've been working on."I don't know how to do anything”This is a big one of course. No game is fun if you don’t know what to do or how to do it. To solve this, I've started creating a proper tutorial that introduces the basics of building, riding controls, and the general gameplay loop. Moreover, the system behind it will also allow me to add goals, hints, and guidance throughout the game whenever they're needed. I'm still deciding whether menu-heavy systems, like horse training, should be explained in the tutorial aswell or through an in-game glossary. Besides the tutorial, I also wanted the game to be more intuitive overall. One small addition that helps with this is the appointment letter from the Environmental Agency (ENVA), which officially assigns you as the new reserve manager at the start of a game and grants permission to build your horse ranch. It gives the game a clearer starting point and better explains the setting. At the same time, I started a complete UI rework which also addresses another common piece of feedback."The UI is kinda ugly."Fair enough. The playtest UI was built almost entirely for functionality. It did its job, but let's just say... Nobody would have accused it of being beautiful. Since you'll hopefully spend quite a bit of time managing horses, staff, and facilities through menus, it deserves a proper makeover. I've changed the overall color palette from blue and gold to black, brown, and off-white. The goal is to combine a modern, elegant interface with small immersive details that make interacting with menus a little more enjoyable. For example, horse stat...Read full article on Community Announcements (NobleCourt)Patch NotesOfficial
Dev-Update 11
Hey everyone,This Dev-Update will be a bit unusual. Last weekend we held the first ever pre-alpha playtest with members of the EQUIRE Discord. In the weeks leading up to the playtest I worked on countless small improvements, fixing bugs and adding little touches throughout the game, so listing every change would not really make sense this time. Instead, I would like to share my personal experience from the playtest and talk about the feedback I received during and after the event.Running an early playtest has been a goal since the beginning of development. I think it is crucial to validate that the core ideas of the game are not only fun in my head but also enjoyable for players. When I got back into development at the start of the year I set myself the goal of announcing the playtest during Horse-Fest and then running it two weeks later. This created a fairly ambitious deadline, but it also gave me a lot of motivation. During that time I focused on fixing and polishing existing mechanics instead of adding new features. By the time Horse-Fest arrived I felt confident enough to announce the playtest. The response was amazing. More than 200 people from the Discord community signed up.When the playtest weekend arrived I had managed to implement most of the features I wanted feedback on, but I also had to cut several improvements that I now need to add afterwards. Looking back I probably should have planned more time before the playtest to simply play the game myself and eliminate the worst bugs. Instead I pushed to add as many features as possible so the game would feel more complete and accessible.Unfortunately this meant that when the playtest started on Friday many players ran into some nasty bugs. I immediately started fixing issues and pushing updates to make the game more playable. Over the course of the weekend I released seven updates and fixed problems that ranged from disappearing ranches to trapped horses and UI issues. I still think including many systems f...Read full article on Community Announcements (NobleCourt)AnnouncementsOfficial

Dev-Update 10
Hey guys, long time no see… hear… read…? Whatever, during the end of last year a lot of things in my personal life prevented me from working on EQUIRE. I started a new job, adopted a dog and was sick more than usual, but since the new year things finally took an upturn. My schedule is finally falling into place and I am working on the game with big motivation 😊 In the last month I worked mainly on some of the management aspects of the game so let’s get into what has changed.Guests: Groups no moreOne of the biggest changes is how guests are handled. The old system with multiple guest groups has been removed. Each group previously needed its own activity schedule, which quickly became tedious with many small groups, and surprisingly shallow with larger groups where preferences averaged out. In the end, schedule building stopped being engaging, so I decided to approach the problem from a different angle.Guests now all follow a single shared activity schedule. Instead of micromanaging groups, the core decision-making now happens on an individual level through horse–guest matching. Every guest needs to be assigned a fitting horse, and these matches directly influence guest happiness, tips, and reputation gains. The matching system considers several factors, each with its own impact:Riding experience: Low-experience guests need horses that are easy and safe to ride, making discipline and courage especially important.Personality compatibility: The temperament of guest and horse needs to match. Also, a guest’s empathy must be higher than the horse’s sensitivity for the match to feel comfortable.Preferred disciplines: Guests are happier when matched with horses that fit their favorite disciplines.Horses: The name is BondTo work well with the new guest mechanics and present the horses better in management mechanics, I redesigned some of their UI elements. I wanted for stats like Speed and Acceleration to feel different from personality aspects like Temperament and Sensitivity....Read full article on Community Announcements (NobleCourt)
