About this game
Recursive Riftfall is a co-op looter where you explore exotic dungeons in search of data cartridges to retrieve and process into valuable data. Those who collect enough data are brought before the benefactors to present it for acclimation, while those who don’t are left stranded between dimensions. Your resources are limited – as you collect data, you will be rewarded with credits which you can spend on tools like teleporters, cloaking devices, and radios to make your job easier or funnier.
Recursive Riftfall has no player cap. Play by yourself or with 4, 6, or more people until the host can’t handle it. The game has an adaptive difficulty system which tailors the challenge to the number of players, and supports a seamless drop-in/drop-out system that allows players to join and leave at any time without needing to restart the lobby.
After an interdimensional calamity consumed our reality, entities from beyond saved what refugees they could and have tasked them with exploring rifts once inhabited by unknown peoples who studied the calamitous reality devourer. Their data in mass aggregate could prove vital in preventing the destruction of other realities. You are one of those refugees, left with nothing but to go where your benefactors allow as they undertake their own search to save other dimensions and beyond.

Public Playtest is Live
The playtest for Recursive Riftfall is now public, and the demo is imminent. The game is taking part in February next fest which begins the 23rd, so the game is in urgent need of playtesters to smooth out any rough edges it may have before the demo release. Postponement is not an option. The time has come to have this game’s release date behind me, for better or worse. It needs to come out, no matter the state or the marketing momentum, and I want it to be as absolutely stellar and bug-free as it can be when that time comes. What can you do? Download and play the game. It’s a development build, so red error messages may pop up. These are bugs. There is a button with the message that lets you open this log. If you open the log, copy the paragraph block of text that generated the red error message in-game, and paste it to me somehow, that is immensely helpful. You can paste it as a comment on this community post, join the discord and put it there, DM me on discord or bluesky, add me as a friend on steam and message me - whatever is the easiest and simplest for you. A note about what you were doing at the time is an extra layer of helpful. There is a way on my end to automate a large part of this process and make it smoother for you, generating more bug reports for me. I don’t have the time to figure that out at the moment. Thanks, and I hope to see you in the game.Read full article on Community Announcements (Recursive Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
First Playtest Complete!
This evening I completed the first every playtest of the game with myself and some friends. There had been previous tests to try out basic features on their own, but today was the actual first test with core gameplay mechanics in place and a relative lack of game-breaking issues. As expected there were some bugs, some worse than others, but these will be fixed up in the coming days and the game will be trialed once again to keep trying to find more. I've been working on this project almost every day for the past 13 months, and in that time I've made essentially zero community-building effort, with all my game-focused time going toward making the game, but that's going to need to change in the coming weeks and months now that I actually have a basic playable product that people have access to. For now, no more playtesters will be let in yet. I want to iron out game-breaking bugs, after which I'll add in more game variety which is currently turned off for testing to only cover the core gameplay elements, after which the game will need MORE testing. After THAT point, once there aren't severe issues, I'll start letting in more testers. I want the playtest experience to be the game itself, I don't want part of the experience to be knowing what not to do because it breaks the game. You should be able to just play it. In the meantime, feel free to join the discord server linked on the game's steam page to chat with me about the game or anything.Read full article on Community Announcements (Recursive Games)
