Discover a charming AI companion named Unity-Chan who invites you into her virtual room for fun mini games. Interact with her unique personality as you explore this casual, indie experience.

About this game

Kohaku Otori (also known as Unity-chan) found a way to traverse between worlds through the mysterious door found in her new apartment - one of these worlds is your desktop! Invite her to your PC, get to know each other, visit her room and play games together!

Unity-Chan: Desktop Companion is a mix of various genres:

  • Desktop Assistant: Unity-chan can hang out on your desktop, where she spends time with you as you focus on your work, watch videos or play games. Thanks to modern text-generation AI you can chat with her about anything, and even share pictures with her to comment and discuss on

  • Become Friends: Chatting is not just plain exchanging text and information. Unity-chan has special reactions for messages that make her feel happy, laugh or annoyed. All this influence her general mood and may change how she reacts to other subjects, and with time she opens up to you and likes you more. And who knows, maybe you will become the one who she trusts most?

  • Mini games: Interact with your virtual friend on another level by visiting her room and playing games with her there, with games varying from casual puzzle to more complex action shooter!

Unity-chan is all alone on your desktop and she doesn't have many friends outside of high school, so don't be shy and visit her in her room and chat while playing mini games together. Spend time with her playing mini games like Tic-Tac-Toe and Match-3 to more complex like Virus Offense - a top-down shooter where both you and Unity-chan fight against waves of cyber enemies!

If you are busy at work and don't have time to play mini games with her, you can still use her help and ask her about anything. Being powered by advanced text-generation AI she can become your source of quick access knowledge with more pleasant delivery than plain chat interface. Or a good source for silly jokes, lyrics or stories to lighten your mood. It's your story and she can make your daily life more colorful. Gain her trust and be nice to her so she may reward you with her friendship and share her story with you! Or make fun of her and make her angry, so she may argue with you or even refuse to cooperate completely, choice is yours.

Key features:

  • Advanced AI chat powered by modern text generation AI, everything is built-in and offline!

  • Additional systems simulating Unity-chan's mood, emotions and relation with player

  • Set up calendar reminders and let her learn facts about you

  • Visit her in her virtual room where you can play various mini games with her like Tic-Tac-Toe and Match-3

  • Play more advanced mini game on her TV console and meet yet another character to chat with!

  • Switch between desktop mascot mode and streamer mode, where she looks like a streamer watching your screen and judging your plays in other games >:D

    Demo public release!

Hey hey! 👋Unity-Chan: Desktop Companion Demo just now became available for everyone for free - that's a great price! :DI hope you will have fun playing it! Can't wait to see how you it will go, hopefully without any technical issues 😅New UCDC videosI made two videos to help with promoting the gameVideo with Unity-chan figurine changing into our desktop mascotThis was a small experimental idea that had been lingering in my mind for a while, and I really wanted to bring it to life 😊Demo announcement trailerAnd more regular trailer with feature showcase 🎮Game development updateAs for now I am currently still working on Unity-chan movement logic inside the virtual room. It is mostly done, now there are some things left like attaching the old transition system to the new one, like instead of teleporting from chair to sofa executing tasks and animations. After some work on animations I noticed how difficult it is to make sure state transitions are precisely fitting the objects. By transitions I mean actions like sitting down, standing up, positioning to interact with object. It is even more troublesome if we include furniture of various sizes and moddable character models. Working on it being a solo developer with little animation skills would take to long.So instead of fighting it I decided to simplify it. Now instead of bad animation transitions the animation will be replaced with transition effect. Let me show it in action.I know it isn't the perfect solution, but with my solo dev skills I need to cut some corners, after I tried creating matching animation transitioning I knew it would take too long to add more Unity-chan actions for me alone to develop. But I hope this new effect will not break immersion too much, we can always explain that her virtual world works in a bit different way that ours 😅If you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments or join our Discord Server - I'd love to see what you guys will come up with when chatting with Unity-chan! ...

    👻 Happy Halloween! 🎃

Hey hey! 👋Today is Halloween, the time of spooky ghosts and creepy skeletons... and partying in cool costumes! 🎃To commemorate such a cute moment, here's an artwork of them surprising yet another neighbor. How could you resist giving them all the treats!?Art made by Uruka (X)On our left, the shy girl is Yuko Kanbayashi. She actually has cat ears even without the costume, since she's a neko girl! She didn't feel like dressing up too much, so she is a cat girl in a cat hoodie. She loves playing indie games and sleeping (even when they all hang out). She's also currently the most tech-savvy girl of the trio!On the opposite side is Misaki Fujiwara - both in position on the artwork and passion for costumes! She loved creating costumes so much that it stuck with her to this day, and her main passion became fashion and costume design! She's also the one who gave Unity-chan her nickname. And in the center here's our star - Kohaku Otori, also known as Unity-chan! Always the bravest and most active of them, she chose herself as the one asking for treats in the center. She is the type who doesn't hesitate and thinks fast, but also can be quite stubborn at times! Now onto the game statusI know I didn't post for quite a while, and I apologize for that. Some who visited the store in September might have seen that there were quite big issues with game presence on store - for a month it was completely delisted! But luckily it is back now!Long story short: game got delisted because, during tests, it was found that AI can generate NSFW answers (which wasn't my intent!). So I reappealed to the decision, changed the built-in AI model, and added needed filtering so such things won't be possible in the future. And thankfully they brought back my game to the store and we continue the game verification!I didn’t want to make a public statement because everything was uncertain, and I didn’t know what the final outcome would be and didn't want to give false hope in case things went bad way. To ...

Mod Toolset release and more modding features: skins, translations, scenery

Hey hey! It's been quite a while since I posted a devlog, but it was a busy time! The good thing is that the work has its results, and I managed to prepare UCDC Mod Toolset to a state ready to be public! Yeah, even before there is a game to be modded, you have access to mod it :DUCDC Mod ToolsetI prepared several public repositories to organize the Toolset:Releases - a place with unity package ready for download, and documentation focused on general info about modding. This is the most important place to visit if you're interested in modding the game GitHub - UCDC Mod ToolsetMod API - a repository containing code for a library that is used to communicate mods with the game. The library is included inside Mod Toolset, but this repository is good if you are interested in creating your own scripts in mods GitHub - UCDC Mod APIMod Templates - a set of mod templates. I decided to create quite a few of them to showcase mod interface functionalities. It may be a good starting point, you could even just copy the whole repository and build your mod from that GitHub - Mod TemplatesVRM Skin Mod Templates - I noticed how popular this format is in terms of creating anime characters, so I decided to create a separate repository dedicated just to it. It also showcases more advanced skin mods that integrate even more with in-game systemsGitHub - VRM Mod TemplatesI also decided to create a separate section of channels dedicated to modding on our Discord Server, with a place to showcase your mod, Mod Toolset updates notices or reporting issues. Or just sharing ideas or asking for help. The bestest Discord Server ❤You can also find tutorial videos for setting up the environment and creating a basic skin mod. I plan to create more videos about the topic in the future! SkinsThe moment I started working on overriding character skins I saw that I need to rework how the character structure works. I remade how even the built-in skins are loaded, and now both modded and built-in skins are tre...
