Escape from a mutating nightmare in Mutation, an indie adventure where your decisions shape survival. Navigate treacherous corridors as you uncover the secrets of a testing facility that won't stop changing.
About this game
A shapeshifting horror
"That blaspheme abomination adapts as quick as a nightmare; now it's a beast, now its fluids are corrosive, now it spits acid, now it lays eggs around to bring waves of apocalypse to the world, now the bioluminescent appendages it chases our hope with blind us all. We know up to 144 mutations of that being and our bowels gave us the perfect answer to survive them all... running."
A twisted, ever changing labyrinth
"Our hope is trapped in a morphing labyrinth, their brain tarnished by fear and dread. Their senses, blurred among horror shadows, crawl in twisting corridors, looking for an exit, a mirage only proved real by the items laying around this god-forsaken facility.
What hides behind the next door? Heaven? Hell? Or... another nightmare?"
Craft, heal and survive
"Our resolve holds the culmination of all our mistakes and efforts, the Chronus Abyssus. Survival wouldn't be possible without the item-combining, nutrient-absorbing and all those other features in such a fatal environment. We need our hope to survive and retrieve our equipment as well..."
Leave your humanity behind
"May our desires be sacrificed to the heart of Dagon to surface from the pit of madness. Sacrifice arcane resonances and part of your soul forged by the experience of countless deaths to survive longer and longer."

A Flawless start Tutorial Access Fix: Some content creators didn’t access the tutorial due to a save file issue where the game didn’t transition correctly after the cutscene. This has now been fixed, ensuring that everyone plays the tutorial smoothly and only once. I'm actively refining the game's rough edges to make it shine, so stay tuned: exciting updates are coming! Mutation Giveaway and the start of a journey
The Beginning of a Journey Mutation was released yesterday, marking both the end and the beginning of new chapters for my career as a developer, for the game itself, and for the community that I hope to grow together with! I’d like to inform you that if you don’t want to pay for the game and want to try your luck, there is an ongoing giveaway with 80 game keys on IndieDB! Additionally, if you want to watch a gameplay session by a professional streamer with 15 million subscribers, here’s the gameplay by iTownGamePlay *Terror&Diversión*: Gameplay Video: I have to admit, I really enjoyed watching it (especially when the Abyssal Carcass gave him his first jumpscare! ) Moreover, the official website of Cascadeur has published a blog post featuring Mutation’s development story, written by me personally! If you’re curious about how a solo indie developer managed to create this game in just a year, you’ll definitely find the read interesting: Link to Cascadeur’s blog on Mutation. Altars and Detectors
An increasingly heated fight against time Tired of not having enough tools at your disposal to survive? Introducing The Altar Replica, an object that channels resonance for the abomination and that you can disrupt with your Chronus Abyssus to delay the next mutation of the unclean being. Replica of the Altar {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45128065/3fdd93a93eefb509107f6663b1474744315eb145.gif Just as mutative bags speed up the Mutation of Abomination by two minutes, altars slow it down by two. Now we're playing ( almost ) on a level playing field! Speaking of mutative pouches, here's a new gadget for you: M particle detector! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45128065/345df5d2f8c9f313b33146ba99f6a34c78f8b119.jpg This gadget detects M particles inside the mutative pouches, indicating where they are so you can destroy them, search every tiny room to unearth this valuable aid! Also added special effects to the skill point allocation in the Heart of Dagon and game credits in the archive section. I have also fixed some minor bugs and glitches that were left over from the last update: Fix List Fix waypoint bug where it would remain visible if you got too far away from the puzzle door once it was already created. Fix camera glitch when head rocking was off and the monster hit the player. Fix language text that appeared “ Italian ‘ instead of ’ English ” if the game was started in English. That's all for this update! This is probably the last update before the early access release, so see you there directly! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the friends and contributors who helped me get this far, you guys are awesome!Read full article on Community Announcements (Ossified Games)Patch NotesOfficial
Motion sickness and Mutative Blobs
Patch 0.1.4.2: A Comfortable Horror Some content creators have rightly pointed out that Mutation's immersive first-person perspective caused nausea for some players. To address this and improve accessibility, I’ve introduced the option to enable or disable head bobbing and motion blur. Along with the ability to adjust controller sensitivity, this should make the game more comfortable to play; hopefully reducing the need for ginger candies! Additionally, the game language can now be changed at any time without additional loading screens, directly from the options menu. Screenshot of the New Options {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45128065/97fe4d743067b67384980fbd1221f1748b24b52d.png New Content: Mutative Blob This small, revolting creature will desperately seek the abomination to be consumed by it. In exchange, the abomination will accelerate the development of its current mutation. I advise killing the thing before it fulfills its purpose. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45128065/276182555dc9921f58e252566b3600e5135fd490.gif These were the highlights! Below is the full list of fixes and additions in this patch: Additions Gameplay: New creature: Mutative Sac. Options: Head bobbing, motion blur, and language selection options added. A link to the Discord channel has also been included in the options menu. Audio: New ambient music for the Sewers and Laboratory levels. Music now stops during blackouts, increasing tension. Fixes Gameplay: It’s no longer possible to kick while crouched. Options now save and load correctly. Camera issues when reaching the end-run portal have been resolved. Options: Head bobbing, motion blur, and language selection options added. Audio: New ambient music for the Sewers and Laboratory levels.Read full article on Community Announcements (Ossified Games)Patch NotesOfficial
New tutorial and better options
A New Tutorial and Improved Options Hi everyone, Manuel here, the developer of Mutation. I’ve noticed that many content creators and players weren’t satisfied with the tutorial, and to be honest, I wasn’t either. I apologize for that! At the time, I didn’t have enough resources or time to create a better experience. Today, I’m excited to announce that a brand-new tutorial level is now available with the latest update! This updated tutorial covers the game’s core mechanics, providing a much smoother introduction to Mutation. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45128065/384d22b2976491ddced5faf7bc3526677ba450d9.png I’ve also noticed that some players weren’t seeing any changes in the options menu when tweaking settings. This was because many didn’t press the “Apply Changes” button. After watching several streams and receiving feedback, I decided to implement immediate application of settings. Now, any changes you make should take effect right away. Note: The "Windowed Fullscreen Mode" currently doesn’t adjust resolution properly when changed. This bug will be addressed in the next hotfix, which will be released soon. Thank you for your patience and support, keep the feedback coming!Read full article on Community Announcements (Ossified Games)
