About this game

Features

  • A retro jRPG mixed with elements of cozy games. Turn based combat is mixed with an idle quest system, dojo battle gauntlets, fishing, and a world equal parts funny and mysterious.

  • Class system with wacky choices such as the Codwalloper who attacks with dead fish, Souschef who cooks enemies to turn them into items, the survivalist Scrounger, a parlor magician Rinkydink, and an essential oils salesperson known as the Oilist.

  • Battle strange and occasional fierce foes using golf clubs, foam rollers, projectile fish in classic side-view combat reminiscent of the 90s. Fill up the ZEST bar and activate it to give a character a huge boost!

The Halite Warriors vs. The Snail

It's called A Snail's Tale - that might lead you to believe that the snail is the main character, but nay, friend. The player takes control of Samson Spligglebarp, the noble descendant of a famed historian who is eager to make his own mark on the world.

Samson travels to the Halite Kingdom to enter King Phillippe's challenge, competing against other adventurers for a chance to be a Halite Warrior. The King reveals that he is eternally pursued by an immortal snail who will never rest until he is destroyed. Shenanigans then ensue.

Fighting with Fish?! Meet the Codwalloper

CodwalloperOne of five available character classes, the Codwalloper is a fish combat specialist. And luckily for you, the player, there are plenty of fish in the world of A Snail's Tale! The Codwalloper serves as a physical fighter with some quirks.Acts of CodFirst of all, the name of this character is no fluke. He has a fixed weapon that cannot be removed, the Cod. Attacking with a dead fish may not sound very appealing, but it is surprisingly effective because the power of the Cod scales with the character's level.Throw it AwayThe major appeal of the Codwalloper is that it's one of two classes that can use caught fish as a consumable. In this case, the Codwalloper has a THROW command that allows them to throw fish at enemies as attack items. Different fish will deal different amounts of damage, and some will even deal elemental damage. This command gives the Codwalloper a renewable source of serious firepower!Wallop AwayThe Codwalloper is an excellent addition to any party, especially for those who do not want to grind for new weapons and skills. However, this strength comes at the expense of forfeiting the ability to exploit elemental weaknesses. Choose wisely! That's it for today's update. We will be talking about the other characters in the days/weeks to come!
