Mizuki and the Crimson Moon Demo Version 7.0.0
A new demo version for Mizuki and the Crimson Moon is out!To be brief, there isn't a lot of new content with this update, but you'll find that the graphics, effects, and gameplay have all been enhanced! This update is to serve as an in-between for the previous update and the next update, because the next update is going to be big.Important ChangesHere's a short list of changes you can expect in this update. A more complete list will be further below.Added Teleportation Dodges. Upon teleporting, Mizuki leaves a wisp behind for just a few seconds. If an enemy attack hits this wisp, you will immediately regain a wisp! It requires good timing but allows you to teleport a lot more than you normally would be able to in the middle of battle.Added a better teleportation line-of-sight indicator. There are now additional effects that are visible when planning a teleport, clearly showing if the teleport is allowed.Settings available everywhere! Previously settings were limited to the main menu, but now they re accessible from anywhere through pausing (as they should be). What's Next?I've already put a good amount of time into what will be the final major update for the demo of Mizuki and the Crimson Moon and I'm going to keep working on it. The final major demo will release as part of the October Steam NextFest which I will be participating in. In that update, the first boss of the game, the Yokai Hunter, will be released! In addition, there will also be balance changes, quality of life additions, and possibly even some new enemies!I hope you'll all give this version a try and let me know if you have any feedback! Thank you for your support!CritsOnAStickChange ListAdded teleportation dodge ability to regain wisp on avoiding an attack with a teleportAdded Settings button to all pause menusAdded teleportation line-of-sight particles when planning a teleportAdded addition particles and hit-flash to striking an enemyAdded the ability to checkpoints to fully restore Mizuki's lifeAdd...Read full article on Community Announcements (CritsOnAStick)Patch NotesOfficial

Controller Support Update - Demo Version 6.0.0
Controller support comes to Mizuki and the Crimson Moon!Late happy new year everyone! It has been a while since a proper update post was made. Despite the length of silence, I have been hard at work on Mizuki and the Crimson Moon publishing smaller updates and working on this large one. Below you'll find a summary of notable additions, changes, and improvements along with a roadmap of where this demo and eventual game are headed.Controller and Gamepad SupportMizuki and the Crimson Moon is now playable with most* controllers! Movement, combat, and teleportation have been improved to allow for enjoyable gameplay with a controller. Heads up though, it will most likely still be easier to play with a mouse and keyboard since that allows for the best control of Mizuki's teleportation. Lots of improvements and quality of life features will come out in the coming weeks to allow for controller gameplay to come as close as possible to mouse-and-keyboard gameplay.*Nintendo Switch controllers are incompatible.Quality of Life Features and Improved GameplayLots of standard quality of life features have been added to gameplay to give more responsive controls and hopefully a more enjoyable experience playing the game. Player controls, movement physics, and input responsiveness have been reworked and improved this update. Teleportation information for Mizuki is also a bit more visible.Improve UI Layout and DesignA lot of work has gone into making the UI look and feel better. Pause menus are less clunky and have much better graphics to go with them.Lots of Other Bug Fixes and ImprovementsThis section is hard to sum up because throughout everything listed up above, so many small changes and improvements were made. It would take a lot of text to list them all (and there are quite a few that I lost track of), so I will list the general groups or more notable changes below:Stage redesigns with a smaller tile collision and no transition zonesAdded checkpoints to stagesEnemy AI improvement...Read full article on Community Announcements (CritsOnAStick)Patch NotesOfficial

Some of the big changes include: The ability to BREAK enemies. Attack most enemies just right to stun them for a couple seconds. A healing ability for Mizuki! Spend all of your remaining wisps to recover some health. Just don't get hit! Directional attacking, even in the air! Many small gameplay balances Lot of bug fixes If you enjoy it, please leave a review and tell me your thoughts! Stuff like that goes a long way in helping a small indie developer like me.
