Embark on a thrilling adventure in Zector 7, an action-packed RPG where you craft, build, and fight alongside friends across a deadly open-world. Use modern and sci-fi tech to loot, harvest, and trade for resources in this indie gem from SocksandGoats Studios.
About this game
Zector 7 is a sci-fi zombie survival game set in a world where futuristic technology meets the remnants of modern civilization. As a volunteer in a secret experiment, you awaken in an abandoned facility far into the future, only to discover that the world has been overrun by the undead. The company behind it all, Zector, holds the key to the outbreak—and your survival.
Explore a massive open world filled with advanced technology, hidden alien ruins, and decaying cities. Gather resources, craft weapons, and defend your base from hordes of zombies that attack every night. Use futuristic tools and weapons as you fight your way through increasingly dangerous environments, uncovering the mystery behind Zector’s experiments.
Will you survive long enough to unravel the truth?
Friends or Solo
You can play with up to 10 players or fly solo, it's your call. Currently, the lobby system is pier-to-pier hosting, but I'd like to add dedicated servers eventually.
Also, there is Proximity Chat so you and your friends can fully immersive yourselves if you'd like.
Skills / Levels
Earn XP by doing a variety of things including defeating zombies, bandits and wildlife
Use your Skill points to increase your stats like stamina, hunger, thirst, health, agility, speed, and much more.
Crafting / Building
Craft items, tools, weapons and vehicles
Build a base, farm, and more to defend your area, or just relax and get that farm life vibe going.
The Night
The nights are inherently more dangerous for a few reasons.
Certain types of enemies only spawn at night
More running zombies will spawn at night
Unless you've setup lights, it will be hard to see them coming.
Temperatures can drop at night
Beacon Towers
For some added adrenaline, you can go active a Beacon Tower, which will summon a large horde. Why do that, you ask? Because those large hordes will have some great loot. Plus, once the Beacon Tower activates, it will spawn a loot box with high tier items inside.
Locations
Zectors - sci-fi facilities made by the company Zector. You start off in Zector 3, but you can find the other zector facilities and discover their secrets (and loot)
Graveport City - The biggest Old World town in the region. It was the first city to be overrun by the infestation. They blamed their ruin on anyone that embraced newer Technology and vowed to only use Old World tech. Lots of loot (and enemies)
Cyber City (still in development)

🤝 Friends and invitesInviting a friend from the main menu or the pause menu now actually reaches them, and joining works as expected. This is the fix for the invites that quietly went nowhere. One friends panel, shared by the main menu and the pause menuEach friend row tells you whether the invite was sent or what went wrongThe list shows when it is loading, when it is empty, and offers Retry if Steam does not answer 🧟 AI Spawners Updated the AI spawners so zeeks and other enemies now don't respawn for a much longer time after you kill them.💥 Error & Crash Reporting If the game crashes, it now reports itself. The technical details are captured automatically, and a crash window lets you say what you were doing when it happened. What a report containsYour hardware, graphics driver, settings, and roughly where you were in the worldThe last stretch of log leading up to the problemIt does not include your Steam account, email, Windows username, or computer name.Read full article on Community Announcements (socksandgoats)Patch NotesOfficial
Salvage & Repair
📦 Containers give loot again. A dozen loot tables and crafting recipes pointed at items that no longer existed — cash registers, resource caches, tool and ammo stashes, the military vehicle cache, and the zombie nest all came up empty, and the Cupboard recipe could never be crafted. All of them resolve now. 🔧 Repair works on everything that wears out. Every degrading item has a repair recipe, the repair list no longer runs off the edge of the panel, and the Repair button stays disabled until you actually have the materials. 🏗️ Building places one part per click instead of several. 🐞 Report a bug from inside the game. It captures your machine, your settings, and where you were standing, so a report arrives with the context already attached. 🎒 Character cosmetics. Backpacks, hats, and helmets now fit as proper wearable gear. 🗺️ World pass. Placement and loot across the map have been updated, including a new cabin stash and refreshed beacon-tower and equipment caches. Item values were adjusted throughout, with additional updates to inventory, chests, and ranged weapons.Read full article on Community Announcements (socksandgoats)AnnouncementsOfficial
The Darkness has arrived
The Darkness Update Something is watching us...A monolith is hovering over the wasteland. Nobody knows when it arrived or what it wants... The DarknessEver since that monolith arrived, we've been seeing these dark red clouds of fog, and they seem to just keep growing in number and size. The fog has proven to be lethal if you breathe it, but what comes afterward is even more horrifying. The only thing we've found that helps stay the Darkness are these Beacon Posts that Zector designed way back in the day. The kicker? They are powered by Luminium, one of the rarest and most precious minerals on the planet. Luminium and luma light The dark has one reliable enemy, and you can carry it. Luminium ore — cut it out of nodes in the field, refine it into ingots at a bench. Luma capsules — throwable. A burst of luma light where you need it, when something is coming and you'd rather it wasn't dark. Luma charges — the only weapon we know of that can destroy a Darkness Source. Beacon TowersOur only warning and defense against the Darkness. Every night, there are more nightmares unleashed on our world, and the Towers are our greatest defense we know of against them. Each night, you will hear both the horrifying and life-saving alarm from Beacon Towers across the landscape warning you of what is about to come for you. As soon as you hear a Beacon Tower siren, you should be headed straight for home unless you don't value your life.Once a Beacon Tower is fully powered up, it will create a wide-ranging Luma Dome, which will shield you from the Darkness as well as incinerate any freakers inside. You can also place smaller beacons yourself called Beacon Posts. A deployed Beacon Post projects a small dome of luma light and protects anyone inside it from both the Darkness fog and it's creatures. Placing them well is how you hold ground you'd otherwise have to abandon. There's more out there than fits in one postGraveport City — a full city district, and the densest concentration of infected...Read full article on Community Announcements (socksandgoats)AnnouncementsOfficial
