About this game

How high can you get? It's time to find out. Hold any button to Go Up. Unlock a vast array of new skills to find ways to Go Up faster. Explore the skill tree and discover minigames and mysteries around every corner. What is the meaning of life? Why do we yearn for progress? Where did I leave my keys? None of these questions will be answered in the course of your long and often times confusing journey to the highest ascents of the firmament.

Collect dust, spice, chaos and more as you ascend

On the course of your journey you will encounter many types of Dust. White dust will help you upgrade your skills. Red and blue dust provide boost and acceleration, while pink dust triggers chaotic events that can assist or impede your progress.

Journey through vast and varied environments

Travel through 11 unique and vibrant regions as you traverse the realms, ascending from the pits of 🔥Tartarus🔥 through ❀Elysium❀ and beyond into the heavenly ✧Cosmos✧.

Face the beasts that lurk in the depths

Creeping spiders, grabbing tentacles, and darker nameless things lurk in the depths, waiting to impede your ever upward journey. But fear not, there is no challenge that can not be overcome with wit and bravery, and lots and lots of upgrades.

Collect Rewards

It's not all monsters and darkness. There are great rewards to be found scattered throughout the realms, as long as you know where to look. And if you ever get tired of the grind you can always kick back and do some fishing.

If you’re not going up, you’re going down

Press any button to Go Up, but don’t stop pressing, or you will go down. When the game is not running, you are falling, so keep your finger on that button! Don't worry though, this is still an idle game, and there are lots of skills you can purchase to keep yourself going up.

Spend Golden Dust to purchase upgrades

An expansive skill tree offers a nearly endless array of unique skills to help you Go Up faster.

We’ve got 🧲Magnets🧲.
We’ve got 🚀Boosters🚀.
We've got 🛡️Shields🛡️.
We’ve got ⏫Accelerators⏫ and 🚫⏬Anti-Decelarators⏬🚫.
Or you can save up your Golden Dust for the ultimate purchase, the skill that lets you Go Up automatically without a single button press. True idle perfection.

Keep your eyes peeled as you explore this strange realm of possibilities. There are secrets that hide in the darkness waiting to be uncovered.

Global and Friend High Scores

Compete with your friends and the world to see who can get the highest. Pass the ghostly echo of another player’s high score to knock them off the leader board, exploding their ghost into valuable dust that you can collect.

    Go Up Full Release

The full game is out now, and we thank everyone who supported us and played our game. While this is the final planned release we will be keeping an eye out for bugs and chances to add content in the following years. As always any feedback is still appreciated as future updates are never out of the question. Noble Whale's bread and butter has thus far been in making plugins for game creators. Go Up was a huge learning experience for us, and while we are proud of our game we do plan to get back into making plugins for a while. We do have ambitions to make another game in the future, so follow Noble Whale on instagram, bluesky, and discord to stay up to date on what we are working on and we'll see all of you down the road for the next one!

    Demo Updates and Prerelease Juice

Demo Update!Go Up has grown so much at this point that we've decided to unlock the entire first ascension in the demo, totally free to play, right now. Give it a try! And keep an eye out for the imminent full release.Prerelease JuicingSounds, music, visual effects, cursor effects, and more! We've been hard at work making Go Up as much of an audiovisual spectacle as it can be in the final months before release. We think we've landed on some good final mechanics to close the massive game loop, so as we put all the final pieces into place we've also been doing a ton of testing and juicing to everything that has been in place a while.

    Our Biggest Update Yet!

It’s been a minute but we’ve been busy and have a lot to highlight for this update. New mechanics, polish, fixes, and balance changes, along with a new unlockable music track.SpitshinesIn order to continue making the cave system how we envisioned it we had to go back and polish up a few things we added a while back. The boulders/mounds and their lighting/reveal systems needed a little work, and along with that came some polish to how we hide and reveal the known map as you unlock new areas. It’s been a long time coming, but we finally got around to organizing the next few “Mystery Box” style skills and the mechanics of how the player receives their respective “keys”. We needed an upgrade to the forge and some new craftables for use in and out of the cave as well. Cave Exploration!Once you find your way in you’ll be met with many challenges in the ever shifting darkness that will test your skills, your ingenuity, and at times your pockets. To explore the cave you will need to come prepared, but with greater challenge comes greater rewards. As you make your way through the cave you will certainly find some foes to block your path, but you will also have the opportunity to make some lifelong friends that might be able to assist you in your explorations, even through ascensions. A great treasure awaits those who can survive the journey through the cave.Everything Else:We added some more states to the skill tree visual styling to help see and read things a little easier as you make your way through ascensions. Already purchased skills now have their own overlay so you’re not endlessly searching for the one skill you missed on your way to ascending. The dark upgradable skills also have a new background once you have the ability to purchase them.Along with the new music track from our friend Stephen Garza we added a little detail we 100% lifted from the makers of a little game called Slay the Spire 2. If you haven’t heard of it (how?) you should do yourself a favor and fam...

    A roadmap... type... thing

What started out as a learning project has taken on a life of its own and exploded into a much larger project than we ever dreamed it would be in the initial months of development before coming to early access. We admittedly have not put much effort into advertising so far, as we want to focus on actually finishing Go Up. While anyone would obviously love to make some real money on their game, we still have our eye firmly on our initial objective, which is to make a unique incremental game that we are proud of, and one that our players will enjoy. So for now the advertising and money can wait, we still have work to do. There are a few more tricks up our sleeves for mechanics that will be added before the “final” release of Go Up, but we also wanted to take some time to inform our early access supporters of what is to come, and also remind any newcomers that now is the time to speak up and let us know what you would like to see! If you have feedback let us know here on steam or on discord, but the sooner the better!Steam Community HubGo Up DiscordPlans for the FutureStrict timelines aren't really our thing here at Noble Whale, which is to say we won’t be talking about dates in this post. We like to leave room for the creative ideas we have along the way while working, so unfortunately that means most of the time we can’t really say how long something will take. So far literally every mechanic we’ve made in Go Up has grown and changed, sometimes into something completely different than our initial ideas for the given mechanic. So whenever we find ourselves at the precipice of Go Up’s “final” release our main goals are the same as stated above; for Go Up to be in a state we can be proud of, and our players enjoy. This coming release (sometime in May 2026) is introducing the final area unlock of the skill tree, The Abyss! A place where nameless things gnaw at the heart of the earth. It sounds scary, but we intend for you to have a friend as you reach the dark places of ...
