Patch v.1.3.0
The sea creature Kwidikwik joins the roster of of playable Gemwielders. The Trident rewards a balanced, tactical playstyle, mixing attack and defense, and synergizes exceptionally well with card draw and card sorting. I also added some new achievements to go along with it and polished the stat screen for multiplayer matches. Content A new playable character has been added to the game, the sea creature Kwidikwik wields the mighty Trident. Achievements The “Power Grid” achievement now is unlocked by using Substation while having Amber Engine in play. Trident comes with three new achievements to unlock. Polish Match statistics are presented more cleanly and fit all the gembearers more easily. (You can check your multiplayer statistics by clicking your own name in the title screen. This also accesses your multiplayer match history.) Bug Fixes Added a delay when using the Tome shuffle ability to make sure all effects finished resolving before the shuffle occurs. Patch v.1.2.1 The player info, accessed via clicking your name in the main menu, now correctly displays statistics and match history for Onyx. Bug Fixes Onyx statistics are correctly displayed in the statistics panel. The match history correctly displays Onyx gems.Read full article on Community Announcements (Estragon)Patch NotesOfficial

Patch v.1.2.0
This major update adds a new unique gem, the Onyx. Thematically you are in a swamp setting, collecting herbs and gathering ingredients to grind up in your mortar and pestle. The gameplay of this gem revolves around getting rewards for discarding cards. Sokras knows how to use Onyx properly and the gem will be unlocked in solo play after you win a small number of games. Have fun exploring the Onyx swamp and may the gems favor you. Content Added a brand new gem type from the paper version of Gemwielders, Onyx. This gem revolves around discard mechanics: Many cards reward the player when being discarded while others create effects from discarding cards. Renamed the “Skola”-button to “Play Solo”. This is to avoid confusion and to communicate better that the game can be enjoyed as a single-player experience. Sokras When Sokras gets to pick a card to be discarded, their choice is more refined. Bug Fixes Fixed life syncing in online multiplayer. This should prevent a rare bug where the game would result in a win for one player but the other would be on 1 life and think their opponent has disconnected. I addressed a bug where Sokras duplicated Intuition on certain occasions. You are no longer able to cancel out of Ancient Recipe after having seen the top three cards of the gem card deck. You either pick a card or click “skip” to tuck all of them away. Tome’s shuffle ability is usable with 1 power when there’s Battery on it. The Source counter also includes cards that are tucked away on Secret Stash. Polish Increased the duration that error messages are displayed to make them easier to read. Moved the selection arrows in the main menu slightly outwards to prevent accidentally clicking the character model. Tweaks Changed the card text on Mechanical Bird so it states clearly that it only targets other modifications. While using it on itself would work technically and is a fun and creative way to trigger the Fungus/Dark Pact combination, this occurs extremely rarely and does no...Read full article on Community Announcements (Estragon)Patch NotesOfficial

Hotfix to properly display the match history entries for Flute and Tome and another minor display bug regarding Ancient Recipe. Bug Fixes The match history correctly displays the icons for Flute and Tome. Patch v.1.1.0
After implementing the illustrations from the paper game and repainting the backgrounds I felt the models, gems and cards didn’t fit the rest of the game as well as they should. I therefore decided to make some major changes to the art style: Taking inspiration from paper theatre, I repainted all the models and changed the look of the cards to match the paper version of Gemwielders. The new “paper” models are, of course, much simpler to animate. They move when attacking or being hit as if held by an invisible hand. Due to that simplicity I could implement two new characters, the freshly reworked Flute and, an all time favorite, Tome. This change marks a new beginning for the game, and I am convinced the gems are looking favorable upon the further development of Gemwielders. Content Added a complete new Character from the paper version of Gemwielders, Nishkin, wielder of the Flute. The implementation matches the newly illustrated Flute rework of the paper card game. Wielding her mighty Tome, Truda has also made it into the digital version of Gemwielders, and she is ready to cook up some Ancient Recipes. Art Direction I replaced the animated character models by traditionally made static models. These are drawn in pencil and ink, then painted in watercolors on watercolor paper and scanned in. They are inspired by paper theatre and will help round out the art style of the digital version of Gemwielders by making it feel more similar to the paper version. I also changed the Source to match the base version of the paper game. New gem images resemble the ones used in the paper version. New card frames mirror the ones used in the paper version. Balance I rerolled Amber Engine to the paper version. This is in the spirit of aligning the digital and paper version of Gemwielders more closely. Apart from that I still like the simplicity of the power generating Amber Engine, even though it arguably produces too much power. It also works very well from a thematic point of view. Po...Read full article on Community Announcements (Estragon)
