BETA Branch
Hello fellow Architects! After seeing the results of our poll, we've decided to open up a public BETA branch on Steam! Here you will find strange experiments, new features, questionable decisions, and probably a few broken ideas. SO BEWARE! If you're not ready to try unstable stuff, DON'T TRY THIS VERSION! The **Default branch will always be the most stable version** of the game, and from time to time, features tested in the Beta Branch will make their way into the main game. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Separate Save Files The Beta version uses a separate save folder, so your progress in the Beta will not affect or carry over to the main version of the game, and vice versa. You can find the game's save folders here: C:\Users\YOUR_PC_USER\AppData\LocalLow\Broken Arms Games Srl HOW TO ACCESS THE BETA BRANCH It's easy! 1. Go to your Steam Library 2. Right-click on Under Par Golf Architect 3. Select Properties 4. Go to Betas 5. Select the "open_beta" branch Steam should then automatically download the Beta version. If you want to go back to the main stable version, follow the same steps and select "Default". WHAT'S IN THE BETA VERSION? Okay, let's talk about the juicy stuff! ⛳ Bird's-Eye View Golfing {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/334ba56713e9d6f8cba348a641fef9d187f1ed47.png You asked, we're trying to deliver! You can now test your holes directly from the bird's-eye view. Simply select a hole and press the Play button to give it a try! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/d3d5a4414053fc369e8c44eefe2aecce412411d5.png This is still experimental, so we're particularly interested in hearing what you think about it. ⛰️ Terraforming Information You can now see height information while terraforming! Panorama Update
Hello fellow Architects! I'm standing proud today to finally bring you the Panorama Update! We have a massive changelog this time, with lots of new ways to make your golf club more beautiful, more natural, and a little more wild. Let's jump into it! Scenic Trees {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/c31ac36b7b0a8b5dc61935eaf88dde0f527849e8.png Scenic Trees are both beautiful and strategic! They're much bigger than regular trees, which means they're also very effective at keeping golfers from taking unwanted shortcuts across your course. Just keep an eye on their maintenance costs — beauty doesn't come for free! Décor {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/b1cea351b5a2cb3e7687940dff3cbcfa52304fd7.png We've added a variety of new décor items to let you further customize your golf club and give it a bit more personality! New Rocks {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/49b9b0eaa1ebf5ab40b52b9b1ee707b4ac0db5cc.png More rocks! You can now decorate your course with Small, Medium, and Large Rocks, giving you more options when shaping the landscape of your club. Waterfalls {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/c1f039c8f4d5a7832366e9d74e99f14d84a1daa2.png Water just got a lot more interesting! Raising or lowering terrain underneath water can now generate waterfalls, and you'll also be able to see the direction in which the water flows. Please note: this system also affects your existing saved golf clubs, so you may find some unexpected waterfalls appearing in older courses. If you spot one somewhere you don't want it, don't panic! Just terraform the area a little and you'll be good to go. Animals {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/1d8dd0309cec687aa2639ffff417445a4b1c250e.png Gotta catch 'em all! Certain combinations of terrain and structures can now attract animals to your golf club. We'll let you discover exactly what attracts what... And let's just say we're already thinking about the fantastic opportunities this could open up in the future. We've been working a little harder behind the scenes to better define our next updates, and I can finally give you some insights into what we're cooking. We decided to move toward themed updates. We've identified a few more bottlenecks that should help the game run much smoother, especially on lower-end PCs, Steam Deck, and consoles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Panorama Update {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/1d91070512c47f0c30456b41bad423ad7a529b26.png This is the next one in line! Patch 1.1.12, the Smooth Swing Update
Hello fellow Architects! I'm here with an update that you don't want, but you definitely need! ːsteamsadː Before we jump into the patch notes, I want to publicly address some feedback we've received. We know that updates have felt a little slow lately, and that new content is taking longer than you'd like to arrive. We hear you! The reality is that we're also finishing another game, and being a relatively small studio, it's inevitable that things slow down a little on our other projects during the final 3 weeks before a launch. But! Starting in September, updates will become much heavier on content. We're also reorganizing our updates around specific themes, which will allow us to share a clearer roadmap with you very soon! And that brings us to the first of these "organized" updates... Update 1.1.12, the Smooth Swing Update ⛳ This time, we're focusing on **optimization and performance**, especially on lower-end hardware and consoles. New & Improved Golfer LODs: Golfers now use different Levels of Detail depending on their distance from the camera. The farther away they are, the less geometry the game needs to render. Better Golfer AI Performance: We've optimized golfer AI to reduce CPU-intensive calculations while also improving their behaviour. Better Terrain Calculations: We've optimized terrain-building calculations to make building and terraforming less demanding. Bug Fixes Animals now spawn correctly: You'll still need to find the right combination of terrain and structures to attract them! When returning from a Sandbox level to the Career Map, the caddy will now spawn near the correct level. Various minor bug fixes and improvements. Demo Update We also took a moment to update the demo with all the improvements we've made since release! So, while this update might not bring you a shiny new toy to play with, hopefully you'll notice something just as important: a smoother Under Par! ⛳ And from September... we'll get back to adding more toys. 😄 Hope to see you on...Read full article on Community Announcements (yveshohler)Patch NotesOfficial
Patch 1.1.6 is Here!
Hello Fellow Architects It took us a little longer than expected, but the wait is finally over the new Fence System is here! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/e4d24b7710535ae2a732d982275ed6db88834b94.png You now have three new fence types to choose from: Short Fence Medium Fence Tall Fence {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/23669f2cbfd989386d413a79d469189037524457.png Fence Details The new fences are more than just decorative! Golfers and your avatar can no longer walk through fences. Golf balls will now bounce off fences instead of passing through them. If a ball comes to rest next to a fence, the lie will be treated as Default Terrain. The legacy fences are no longer available in the build menu. If you load an older save, existing old fences will still be there you can sell them, but you won't be able to build any new ones. Community Feedback Thanks to your feedback, we've also made a couple of improvements: Golf balls now come out clean after landing in water or going Out of Bounds. You can now see whether you've completed all V.I.P. missions for a level. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/ecd9991f7224c7f71e5500045cdf00069b32c70b.jpg Fixed controller navigation when selecting Flower Beds. Fixed incorrect tournament score display. You can now sell golf terrain even while in debt (when you need the money most!). Various minor bug fixes. What's Next With most of our initial roadmap now in a good place, {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45524161/bf56d93b822c463777244d048ce2fafb31cdd77b.png we've started looking at the next big improvements, beginning with a complete overhaul of the water system and new terrains! More soon! We've also received some concerning feedback about performance, not just on consoles, but on PC as well. Improving optimization is now one of our top priorities, so we're working hard to deliver that 360 no-scope, 300 FPS, GG WP experience. ːchicken_wowː Steam Machine We also tested the game on the new Steam machine to make sure we're ready for its launch, and we're happy to report ...Read full article on Community Announcements (yveshohler)
