Scouts Out is an action-packed helicopter survival experience where you fight to survive and make a daring escape. Developed by Rotating Games, this indie game pushes the limits of what it means to flee from danger in a high-stakes environment.

About this game

Stay Airborne while everything tries to tear you down!

Scouts Out is a score-driven arcade helicopter shooter built around control, pressure, and survival.

You’re not flying a perfect machine. You’re fighting to keep it in the air.

Enemies close in. Movement gets harder. The screen fills with threats.
The longer you survive, the less room you have to recover.

Every kill matters.

Chain explosions together to clear space, build momentum, and push your score higher—but hesitate for even a moment, and the pressure catches up.

This is a game about staying alive just a little longer than you should.

💥 Trigger explosive chain reactions to clear enemies

🚁 Fast-paced helicopter combat with constant pressure

Scouts Out just got weirder — and cheaper.

Custom Decals - Put Your Own Art on the HelicopterYou can now drop your own images into the game as decals. Slap them on your helicopter, or let them show up right as everything goes wrong (and in Scouts Out, everything goes wrong eventually). However you use it, this run is now yours in a way it wasn't before. This is two updates in one. If you've been playing since launch you're jumping straight from 1.0.2 to 1.2.1, so you're getting the decal system, a visual overhaul, and a difficulty rebalance that changes how a run actually feels.Fly Your Own Colors: Custom DecalsNo config files, no setup. Drop any PNG or JPG into the game's decal folder and it turns up in the menu, named after your file.To find the folder: right-click Scouts Out in your Steam library, then Manage > Browse local files, then open ScoutsOut_Data > StreamingAssets > Mods > DecalsAuto-scaling. A 128px icon and a 4096px masterpiece render at the same size, aspect ratio preserved. Nothing to tune.It sticks around. Your decal flies with you, shows up as a watermark on the game-over summary, The Difficulty PassScouts Out was too easy, and the reason turned out to be arithmetic rather than design, damage was scaled so small against your health pool that a run basically never left full health. This release rebuilds that from the ground up.If you've played before, this is the change you'll feel first.Damage rebalanced across the board. Every weapon, drone and collision now costs a meaningful share of your health. A run ends in a handful of solid hits rather than a few hundred grazes.Incoming damage ramps with the run. The round that grazes you in the opening minute is a serious threat once you're up to speed.Health regenerates between engagements. Stay out of fire for a few seconds and you recover - but only to the top of your current quarter of the health bar. Damage is never fully undone without a pickup.Deep runs become a war of attrition. The further you go, the lower your recovery ceiling.Brief invul...

Audio Overhaul Update – Version 0.9.36

Just pushed a pretty big audio pass across the game.Weapons should feel a lot clearer now when they change. You’ll hear distinct sounds when you upgrade, and when you burn through upgraded ammo and drop back to default. It’s a small thing, but it makes moment to moment gameplay easier to read.Pickups also got cleaned up. Armor, health, and weapon upgrades now all have their own proper sounds instead of sharing the same generic one, so you can tell what you grabbed without needing to look. There’s also a broader pass on audio across multiple systems. Nothing flashy, just tightening things up so everything feels more consistent and intentional.More polish updates coming soon.\ - 2026-04-14- Added clearer weapon transition audio feedback: - weapon upgrade sound now plays when a new player weapon is applied, - weapon downgrade sound now plays when upgraded weapon ammo is depleted and it falls back to default.- Ensured upgrade pickup sounds use specific SFX mappings for Armor, Health, and Weapon upgrades instead of a generic pickup label.
