About this game

Underneath: Dwarven Artifacts is a solo-developed 3D real-time first-person single-player dungeon crawler. Immerse yourself in dark, underground caves, dwarven ruins, and tunnels filled with monsters and long-forgotten loot. Search for lost artifacts and make decisions that will determine the fate of dwarven civilization. Become a fierce warrior, a stealthy marksdwarf, or a master of lost dwarven rune magic.
Lore
Only 20 years have passed since the Tremor. The mighty dwarven kingdom still recovering, its underground tunnels still collapsed. You are a dwarf born in Ahrnsbrak Fortress, an outpost on the outskirts, now governed by a guild called the Order. This guild is dedicated to searching for ancient dwarven artifacts, technology lost millennia ago.
Rebuild the might of the dwarven kingdom, join forces with The Order as they vie for power, or choose to remain independent and harness the power of the artifacts you discover to become the most powerful dwarf in the realm.

World and Location Generation
Most locations are procedurally generated, with multi-level caves connecting through tunnels in surprising ways, secret passages, and pseudo-randomly generated equipment to find – all of this ensures that no two games are the same. At the same time, you can encounter many locations that are hand-crafted, while the main storyline remains unchanged, but with multiple paths to follow.
Cooking and Increasing Character Stats
There are no classic experience points in Underneath. The only way to increase character stats is by eating various food.
A refined cooking system - both roasting individual ingredients by the fire and cooking meals with several ingredients, the chance to discover recipes (which can also be found or purchased) - thanks to which we will be able to develop character statistics in the direction we want.

Underneath Demo
Axes high!I'm positively surprised you guys are finding Underneath Demo in the vastness of Steam games, especially while I haven't done any marketing at all yet!You are the true unpolished gem finders, well fit for a dwarven explorer! As I'm developing Underneath solo after-hours for a few years now, I figured I will release the demo during the Medieval Steam Fest and see what happens. It's still unfinished, but playable. Keep in mind that due to the early stages of development, your save games will stop being compatibile with major updates to the game files. But I've created Underneath: Dwarven Artifacts to be a replayable experience, so I hope you will find fun with starting again, as much as I enjoy it still after years of testing!I'm planning on finishing the demo until October 2026 Steam Next Fest (Octoberfest? :) )I will keep updating it, focusing mainly on combat, story and fortress location.ChangelogHere is a changelog for version 0.1.8a. I've been focusing on fixing bugs I encountered and saw while watching some gameplay videos from the demo, like this one:It's darker nowAdded shader preloading so there will be fewer stuttersChanged how beard is rendered on player character viewDungeon re-generation should take less iterations nowOres can now spawn in corridors tooReworked item drops from destroying stone objects (less stone from ores for example)Minor changesStone have less hp nowJump sound changed, jump is a bit higher nowDrinking alcohol when full added to inebriety factorCould've used ores and ingots in inventory without smelter openedOre translations, graphic preset options, trainer dialogueAdding multiple Torg quests by translating tutorial room noteHolding interactions (like getting oil from wall "lanterns" Secret door opening smoke (on medium+ quality) visibilityClosing guard dialogue prevented getting "talk to bookmaster" questCheers,GradirRead full article on Community Announcements (Gradir)
