About this game

Rogue Conflict is a game that combines the tactical depth of a wargame with the unpredictability of a roguelike.
Each campaign unfolds differently — maps, units, and upgrades change with every run.
Units lost are gone forever, and if you fail a campaign you will have to start a new one.

At the beginning of each new campaign you are presented with the option to pick one of fifteen unique armies, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Throughout the campaign you will also have to opportunity to customize your army by requesting new units and assigning upgrades to them to help further specialize your army.

All the maps in Rogue Conflict are procedurally generated, ensuring that no two runs are the same.
You'll need to carefully plan your attack at the beginning of each mission and make sure you use the maps terrain features to your advantage in order to complete each combat puzzle.

The difficulty in Rogue Conflict is designed to push your tactical skills to their limit.
When advancing your troops, you will have to do so with care, as your opponent will be ready to punish you for every little misstep along the way, and the roguelike nature of the game means that all decisions are final.

Rogue Conflict Update IV
Greetings once again!I got a new update for you all, and this time around my main focus has been on reworking and fleshing out the difficulty options in the game, as it seems to still be the main issue players have with the game.New Difficulty Options:So the main thing I changed with the difficulty options, is that I added two more options to choose from. You now got Beginner, Novice, Veteran and Expert.Novice is a reworked version of the old Easy difficulty setting, and Veteran is exactly the same as the old Standard difficulty option.Beginner is of course a even easier option than Novice (formerly Easy), to help along new players. And Expert is the new hardest option in the game, and is only recommended for experienced RC players looking for a challenge. If you want to read about the exact details of these difficulty options, then you can do so in the in-game manual under the "Choose your Army" entry.New Medals:I also added new medals to represent each difficulty setting.Beginner Novice (formerly Easy)Veteran (formerly Standard)ExpertFill Medals option:Another addition I made is that I added the option to "fill in" missing medals for an army.So what this means is that if you have a army that say you have only beaten the campaign with once on the veteran difficulty setting. Then, if you select that army you will get the option to fill in all the missing medals for it of a lesser rank, which in this examples case would be the Novice and Beginner difficulty medals. But what is important to note, is that this is purely a aesthetic option and will not award you any points to unlock new armies with. It is only an option for all the completionists out there who wants nice looking brackets without having to complete the campaign a million times over, with the same army on every difficulty setting.New Achievements:I also added new achievements for beating the campaign on Expert difficulty, and reworked the old achievements for beating the campaign "X number of times", so tha...Read full article on Community Announcements (Wik)Patch NotesOfficial
Rogue Conflict, Update III
Guess who's back! After taking a long break from working on any RC related content, I am happy to announce that I got some new goodies for you all, in the form of some new Quality of life features, bug fixes and some other minor improvements.New Features:Combat preview window:The biggest new feature, that I have spent the most time working on during this updates development is this new "combat preview window" as I like to call it.This window will show up when you hover over a enemy unit, and its purpose is to give you a more detailed overview of what will go down when you attack an enemy.I know there have been people asking for something like this for a while, and I myself have also for a long time wanted to add something like this to the game, as I've always felt that the numbers that pop up on top of a enemy unit when you target them, just isn't enough information, especially for new players I can imagine it can be very frustrating when you are trying to learn the ropes of the game. So hopefully this will alleviate the learning curve a bit, which I still believe is one of the biggest issues with the game. And if you want to read more in detail what kind of information the combat preview window entails, then you can do so in the in-game manual under the "Combat" entry.Unit Rank Icons:The next quality of life feature in this update, are these "unit rank icons".This one is also one that I have for a long time wanted to add to the game myself, and have gotten requests to put something similar in the game. The purpose of these "icons" or "numbers" is to tell you what rank the unit is simply by looking at it and not needing to click on it, which will hopefully make it a bit easier when you manage your units. But honestly, I gotta say that I am not completely satisfied with the results, as you still can't tell exactly what type of upgrades the unit is carrying without clicking on it. But hopefully this will do for now. Also, if these two new features bother you, and you find...Read full article on Community Announcements (Wik)Patch NotesOfficial
Rogue Conflict, Update II
Greetings everyone, this time around I got an update that nobody asked for, Which is new "promotional art" or "capsule art" as steam likes to call it, for the game. New Art: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44993717/47dae42b9912fd1d886b31f2f44a93fa4c39492d.png The main reason for wanting to change the art for the game is very selfish one. As the game's art is one of the few aspects of the game that i didn't do myself, and therefore it has always been an aspect of the game that I've always wished to change, just so I can say that even that part of the game was made by my own hands. Original Art: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44993717/c40be62e52bbad4db9dc107283839bc1fc1bdd5e.png Another reason for wanting to change it, is that I've never been quite satisfied with how the original art turned out. I always felt that it didn't quite capture the tone and the soul of the game. Which is not meant to discredit the artist who did the original art. He did an excellent job and the fault lies completely in my own hands. Because when i had the art commissioned back in autumn last year, I didn't really have a clear idea in mind for what the art for the game should look like, and my attitude was very much that I wanted to spend as little time and energy as possible thinking about, so that I instead could put my time and focus on other aspects of the game's development. Which in hindsight was a mistake. So when i hired the guy to do the art, my instructions to him were very limited, and he pretty much only had the screenshots of the game in the steam store to go off. New Logo {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44993717/8acf2202a2ec16829d31bb1b43f5428e74c54a71.png Original Logo {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44993717/81da1184b76c282bb1a79aa1fb729ee149963bea.png So in other words it has been a thing that I've wanted to change for a long time, but I've never had the chance to do it during the game's development as I've always had more pressing concerns to work with, and only now after the game's release have I been able to give it the pr...Read full article on Community Announcements (Wik)Patch NotesOfficial
Rogue Conflict, Update I
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44993717/2185be688b5cfc212f3c91f8c47ed2befd3d75c9.png Welcome everybody to the first ever Rogue Conflict update. The big new feature alongside all the regular tweaks and bug fixes in this update, are the new difficulty options. You can now choose between "easy" and "standard" difficulty. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44993717/b22b2563f3e00789b882a8416905a433b1521cec.png The reason for adding these new difficulty options is because after reading all the feedback I've gotten since launch, the main complaint seems to be the game's difficulty. And the reason I went with a new easier difficulty option rather than tweaking the standard difficulty of the game, is because generally speaking I'm pretty happy with the level of difficulty and balance of the game, as I've always intended for the game to be challenging and not something that you can just blow through on your first try. But in the same time, I do realize how frustrating it can be to spend several hours trying to get to grips with the fundamentals of the game, and in the end of it have no sign of progress to show for it, and no new armies unlocked to play with. So I hope this new difficulty option will help ease some of that frustration, and if you are new to the game then I recommend starting out on the easy difficulty, and then switch to standard once you feel like you've gotten the hang of things. The way the new easy difficulty works, is that if you beat the campaign on the easier difficulty you will still get a medal for your accomplishment, but it will be a separate medal from the one you receive on the standard difficulty. This new medal is worth just as much as the old one when it comes to unlocking new armies, the only difference being that certain achievements won't be available. If you want to know excactly what type of effect the Easy difficulty option has on the campaign, then you can read about it in the in-game manual, under the "Choose your army" entry. Last thing I will say about the gener...Read full article on Community Announcements (Wik)AnnouncementsOfficial
