Explore hand crafted, non-linear dungeons. Platform across collapsing infrastructure, navigate ancient traps, and face dangerous enemies. Find your way by studying ancient maps, environmental clues, and dubious advice from locals. Stray off the beaten path to uncover hidden secrets and powerful loot.
Obtain various body augments as quest rewards or through exploration. Install them to gain new abilities, then layer them to discover unique effects and synergies. Happy New Year + Upcoming Playtest in March 2025
Hello from the Lost Gate team! We hope the new year is treating you well so far. We are back from break and eager to share our plans for the next public release: the Intro Playtest. We learned a tremendous amount from player feedback on our first demo of MINDFLUX: Dead Man Walking, released during Steam Next Fest in October 2024. Since then our vision for the game has evolved to include new game systems, characters, and adjustments to our narrative pacing. As part of this evolution, we are planning to release a new demo of MINDFLUX: Dead Man Walking later in 2025. This new demo will be a massive leap forward for MINDFLUX, with improvements to virtually all aspects of the game, and brand-new narrative content. In addition, we’ll be embracing the psychological horror elements of our setting and integrating them in a more direct way into our game’s mechanics. Spooky! For our first step towards our next demo version, we plan to host an Intro Playtest in March 2025. During this playtest we are seeking feedback on some of our new psychological horror mechanics and our more engaging, hands-off introduction to our game. Content-wise, the intro playtest will be restricted to a small slice of our new demo, the very beginning of the new demo to be specific. We intend to make player feedback a bigger part of our development process moving forward, so we will be building up to our new demo, and making improvements based on that feedback while adding content. We will have a follow-up announcement about the various options to give us your feedback around the playtest release. Stay Tuned! Our plans for the Intro Playtest build includes the following features: -New psychological horror mechanics -A new role-playing mechanic -Improvements to the character controller, scanner system, and item visibility -A new interactive start-sequence -New content including a puzzle, , and dialogue -A more hands-off introduction to the controls and game mechanics -Various other improvements Since ou...Read full article on Community Announcements (Salix Augeat)AnnouncementsOfficial
A NextFest Retrospective and The Future of MINDFLUX
NextFest 2024 is dead and gone... But we're not. Far from it, actually. The energy on the Lost Gate team is electric. We've had this demo/build prepared for a while now, but felt that it was necessary to receive public feedback before we could really proceed with confidence. Throughout NextFest, hundreds of you played and submitted your thoughts, hopes, and concerns regarding MINDFLUX and it's future... So what's next? Big changes, that's what. New Horrifying Ideas The tone of MINDFLUX has always been spooky. This world teeters on the precipice of utter madness as cataclysmic events loom at every corner of the island. Beyond this, Ambrose's past, present, and future is also shrouded in an aura of fear. Our first step is to lean further into this. For those who have seen the animated cinematic SKINWALKER, you've probably noticed that things aren't going very well for the denizens of this world OR Ambrose. I wonder if some new mechanics are going to be introduced based on what we've seen in the cinematic... hmm... here More details to come on this, but for now, know that we are working to make MINDFLUX a more psychologically interesting experience. Player Flow and Mechanical Adjustments While the major pieces of our core game play loop are performing well in terms of expected behavior and stability, we feel the overall player experience needs adjustment. Based on observations from numerous play tests and community streams, we've laid out some goals we want to achieve in the second public version of our core game play loop. Reconstruct the Tutorial section, focusing specifically on creating organic exposure to new game concepts. Reduce the amount of tutorial pop up windows. Retool fundamental design structures within current conversations. Overhaul object investigations to be more engaging. Incorporate new use-cases and adjust original use cases for hardware modifications. Create new feedback methods that guide the player into critical thinking regarding dialogue choic...Read full article on Community Announcements (Chandy)Patch NotesOfficial
Changes & Bug Fixes: Oct 24 2024
Changes Added some dialogue to the Arms Dealer that triggers if you bring him Saarpen's Old Mod. Added some dialogue to the final encounter with Hobbes the Clinic. You should now be able to wrap up the demo without breaking your promise to Bys. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where the "Investigate" button in the inventory would still be visible and clickable if you select an item that can't be investigated. This would cause an error when clicked. The button should now be correctly hidden when you select an item that can't be investigated.Read full article on Community Announcements (ianraydouglass)Patch NotesOfficial
