About this game

Welcome to the Intelligent Countertop Association!

You are a Toaster. You have been tasked with eliminating targets by expertly maneuvering toasters into their bathtubs. Use your power cord to slow down time, grapple and swing around physics-based environments to execute a Toastercide, all while navigating as fast as possible.

Navigate with just two simple controls

1. If you shoot your power cord at a powered object, you will be pulled towards it at great speed.
2. If you shoot your power cord at an unpowered object, the cord will act as a rope, allowing you to change your momentum while moving.

Using both your grapple and swinging cables effectively is key to maneuvering around the mission environment. Even with just these two mechanics, movement in Toastercide can become very complex which requires learning several advanced maneuvers.

Oh also, you can slow down time.

Explore a variety of environments.

Toastercide's missions are set in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, a college dorm room, a 3-bedroom suburban home, Santa's workshop, and the city of Dallas Texas in 1963. Be sure to avoid any patrolling goons, and pesky hazards like water, bullets, or, you know, the ground. Believe it or not, but people are scared of moving appliances, so be sure to avoid them as best as possible.

Unlock and use special toast abilities!

Unlock and use special toast abilities by collecting toast during missions and ejecting them. Cool mechanics arise depending on which toast ability you choose, allowing for complex synergies and time saving techniques. Abilities include invincibility, dashing, teleportation, burning projectile toast and the toast swap ability. See what works best for you!

Test your skills by going as fast as possible!

Toastercide has been designed with speedrunning in mind. Learn the game's advanced techniques and see if you can beat your previous times and win all three stars! Use toast abilities wisely to find smart time saves!

Be sure to check out the demo if you're interested!

    New Infinite Mode Released!!!

A major Toastercide Update has dropped and it's a new game mode! A tsunami is hitting and the toaster must grapple and swing through an infinite city in order to survive. The city is procedurally generated, so every run is different. You can also collect coins and toast along the way to help you traverse the tight alleyways and towering buildings with ease. See how far you can get! This game mode has been in the works for a long time now. It was actually supposed to be in the original release. However, due to time constraints, this was pushed all the way until now (almost 6 months later). I'm pretty happy with how it came out, and I find myself replaying it over and over again, trying to get a better time. I hope you guys enjoy it too! The game mode plays kind of like Subway Surfers, but with our favorite spider-toaster. The city is generated in a way where the toaster must eventually switch roads (lanes), without running straight into a building. Some blocks only have tight alleyways where the toaster can squeeze through. There are also toast pick ups along the way, with each toast pickup changing the type equipped, so the game play and toast tech gets varied. Coins are scattered around, giving players another way to boost their score. However, playtesting revealed that players didn't actually care about the coins, so now they provide a small health boost as well! There's also a balloon shaped surprise if you make it far enough. There may be some smaller updates including adding enemies, more diversity in the city layout, and difficulty scaling improvements. Keep an eye out for those!

    Infinite Level Mode Coming Soon!

Its been quite a bit since the last update! Truth be told, I needed a bit of time to rest after releasing the game, and life just kept getting in the way of returning. I am happy to announce that the final feature in Toastercide is coming soon: an Infinite Play mode. The infinite play mode has been something I've wanted to include at launch, but never prioritized. I wanted a "Subway Surfers" style infinte gameplay mode. The gist is that you are chased through the city while a tsunami pursues you. If you are too slow, you die to the Tsunami. The problem I keep grappling with, is how to make this fun. Given the large length of the city, it was a reasonable strategy to just keep grappling forwards, with no swinging at all. I'm currently experimenting with adding rewards and toasts to prevent this behavior. In any case, I'm excited to see where this game mode goes. I'm planning on releasing it around May 12th, where the game will also go on sale!

    TOASTERCIDE HAS BEEN RELEASED

Toastercide has finally released. Its been quite a journey. Toastercide initially began as just a small project where I could learn how to make 3-D games. It was meant to just be a 2-3 month development period, but then one of my reels blew up, and I realized I actually had to make a good game since people were actually waiting on it. Thus, a 2-3 month development period turned into just over a year. A combination of scope creep, inexperience and arrogance lead to three separate delays. Finally, I committed to November 22nd because I knew that if I didn't do so publicly, I would never release my game since it would never be perfect. I hope it lives up to your expectations! Thank you to all the play testers who spent countless hours trudging through levels, giving me invaluable feedback. The game is way more polished because of you guys. Thank you. I have a few more updates in the works, but for now I think I'm going to focus on emergency bug fixes for a few days, and then I'm going to enjoy Thanksgiving. Thank you all for your support this past year, I hope you enjoy the game. Please leave an honest review of the game, so I can make the game even better!

    Toastercide is releasing November 22nd!

Toastercide is releasing on November 22nd! After at least 3 different delays, I'm finally confident in launching Toastercide. Theres 6 very unique levels (plus 3 revamped tutorial levels), for fans to play! There are still a couple minor feature's i'd like to implement, but I am very happy with how the game has evolved. Thank you to all my fans and followers. You guys are amazing and have been so supportive. I love seeing how excited people are to the concept, and the nice messages you have sent over the last year. It's been quite an interesting journey. When I started this project, I had no idea that it would pan out this way. I definitely didn't expect almost 6000 people to wish list the game (lets cross that mark ASAP btw). The game is now way larger than I initially expected. Honestly, I thought the game would just be the first 4 levels (including the 3 tutorial levels) of the playtest. I hope you all are as excited about this launch as I am!!!! Please share the news with anyone that you think might enjoy the game as well! Thanks!!!
