To get new resources for your structures you can explore different areas. It may require building bridges and ladders.
To get more trees and rocks upgrade unlocked areas, so more new trees and stones will spawn.

Skillwood v1.0.0 - Full release
I said "Up to a year" in early access text. It ended up being 2 years and exactly 1 day. The whole thing worth separate Expectations VS Reality post with the whole Early access disclaimer that I wrote back in early 2024, but now, let's just celebrate the full release. The game can be completed nowEven tho all achievements are still achievable during first 40-ish minutes of the game, there is a way to reach the full completion for the most devoted players and I know there were a lot already. You, guys, zone out on the game pretty heavily so I decided that you deserve the true completion just like the game. It's not like "reach bazilion of souls and get good job sign", game is reworked heavily on prestige side and almost all new systems are entwined into the ending, more in changelogBorisThat was the most asked feature by everyone and it was gap I know I had long ago. We had woodcutting companion but didn't have the mining one. Now we finally have it. His name is Boris. He's a ram (a desert bighorn to be precisely) that lives in the sandstone desert, follows you across the stone areas, jumps around instead of flying when see obstacles, breaks rocks with his head and loves salt. Hope you'll get alongWhat's new in 1.0Boris - obviously. The mining companion. Mechanically it's the same as woodpecker, has it's own home, levels up with damage scalingStarting areas levels - now in prestige world we have blue variants of the usual world with the whole rocks and trees. You can level up starting levels and unlock permanently bridges and ladders for future runsStarting levels of upgrades - familiar dens, skill workbencehs, fireplace itself. All these things now have upgradable starting levels. You can start each run with a pickaxe and axe and strong stamina at the end which will make things much easier.Crit skill - I heard that a lot of people didn't even see the aoe skill because it requires too long combo. Now we have another skill that requires much lower combo count and just ...Read full article on Community Announcements (sshulin)AnnouncementsOfficial
Final v1.0.0 candidate is open for pre-release testing
First things first - I basicly finished the game, the version that most likely will go to full release in a coulpe of weeks is in current beta version steam branch. If some of you want to help me to make the release better - please, try the pre-release version yourself. There's some stuff, I won't go into changelog here and leave it for full release post, but the prestige system with souls is massively expanded. There's some stuff in main game too, but you'll find all of it yourself if you decide to check out pre-release version. Feedback is storngly welcome and there won't be better time to give it then next couple of weeks. Wherever is more compfortable: this thread, steam discussions or discord. Since it's my journey to have my own completion with Skillwood I think that you deserve an ending too. So now Skillwood is completable. It's not easy, base case experience is not about completion, just like my journey wasn't, completion will require some decent amount of prestiges (not unreasonable I hope). But I added a little bonus on the "new game plus", that I spoiled a bit with the post cover.Anyway. Thanks you for being with me these two years. We (me and you) are in the finish line. Let's do it together. And the ram is still unnamed. We don't want to call it Carlos too, right?P.S.Mini-guide how to change branch in steam:Right-click Skillwood in your library → Properties → Betas → enter password `releasecandidate` and select the release_candidate branch.Read full article on Community Announcements (sshulin)AnnouncementsOfficial
Skillwood v0.23.0 - Playable NPC skins
Hi everyone. It's been a while.Quick personal context first, since I owe you one. The game getting little attention even though it was free took a hit on my motivation in late 2024 - I knew Skillwood was a niche concept, but the gap between "people who play it seem to enjoy it" and "almost nobody finds it" was harder to sit with than I expected. Then my daughter was born in February 2025 and gamedev time mostly evaporated for the year that followed. She's a bit older now and I have some room again. Sorry for going quiet. I read every thread that was posted in the gap - thanks to everyone who kept reporting bugs and asking if the game was still alive. It was always going to come back, just took longer than I wanted.v0.23.0 changelogPlayable skinsThe character monuments in the prestige world have been there since v0.22.0, but until now they only let you swap between the two default characters. From this version, every trader NPC in the game has its own playable skin, unlockable by maxing out your trade relationship with them. So instead of two skins you've got ten, and a reason to actually max out the NPCs beyond just trading. Skin swapping still happens at the monuments in the prestige world. The two default characters are still available from the start as before - the new ones come from the NPCs. This is the feature I was halfway through when I went on pause, so it feels good to finally finish it.Steam Cloud savesSkillwood now uses Steam Cloud, so reinstalling the game or switching machines won't lose your progress anymore. I also rewrote the save system to do atomic writes, so a crash mid-save shouldn't be able to leave you with a corrupted file.If you've been playing on the same machine the whole time, your save will keep working as before. The cloud version takes over from your existing local save on first launch.Back navigation in character selectSeveral people accidentally lost progress by pressing "New Game" from the main menu and walking through character sel...Read full article on Community Announcements (sshulin)Patch NotesOfficial
Skillwood v0.22.5 - prestige upgrades hotfix
I could've done it earlier, but I'm a little bit low on motivation lately. Hope I can keep going with ~monthly updates as usual. Changelog: - Maxing out AOE blast skill damage multiplier won't make it deal 0 damage anymore. Thanks to @bz-mof, @Xen, @Lamey the Clown and @Blue64 for letting me know about the issue - Changed UI behaviour of prestige upgrades, now they don't hide upgrade value on max out and only hide next level souls requirements (since you can't upgrade it any further) - Fixed next level upgrade cost in portal confirmation dialog. It crashed the game in dev mode and could've bring some problems into production build too. Thanks everyone. I hope I can write a post in discussions about further plans on the game. As you might've noticed, the game is a little experiment - incremental game under the sauce of survival/farming game. And this "sauce" shot me in the knee, since it brought the expectations for survival/farming scope game, that I didn't planned to do. There won't be enemies, farming, cooking and so on. I want to keep making it as a basic incremental game with a relaxing wibe, nothing too overwhelming. I know it won't be enough for some players, but I hope there will be still people who can enjoy it.Read full article on Community Announcements (sshulin)AnnouncementsOfficial
Skillwood v0.22.4 - blast skill and combo meter
I'm late almost for a week with an update log, but some of you might already play the new version. Sorry for being late, I have a strange excuse, but I do version preview covers in a strange way in game and capturing blast was quite tricky. Also, v0.22.3 was a bug fix uploaded a long ago, so I didn't even bother to post a release note. Skillwood - v0.22.4 Combo skills Now you can see a combo meter above hitbar. It increases every time you land a perfect hit in the green area and resets when you do a non perfect hit or over time. There's only one skill right now, from start every 30 perfect hit will trigger blast that will hit additionally the tree or rock that you just hit and other rocks and trees nearby. You can upgrade damage multiplier and decrease combo count needed with new prestige upgrades. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44832356/26ede45673f247aa541831cf7baa20d37850286a.gif New map Now on top of the existing map after prestiging there is an alternative map so the prestige would feel less repetative. Since I still don't have procedural generation this thing took me a week to do, this is an unreasonable level of maunal work, so I hope it at least helps with repetativeness. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44832356/bb967791bb2bf5d7cb613948f01ad26afd65a043.png Player monuments I added the player monuments to prestige world so you can change the player any time you prestige. Right now there's still only two players, but I hope to fix it in future. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44832356/58ea5e0ba77bb419140eaadd45b50c7461e82693.pngRead full article on Community Announcements (sshulin)
