Step into the haunting world of The Tragedy at Deer Creek. As Charlotte Gray, delve into an abandoned camp and unravel the sorrowful events that shaped its history.

About this game

'The Tragedy at Deer Creek' is a cinematic adventure set in a remote, long abandoned logging camp, exploring the ambition, hardship and struggles of its people, and the tragedy that ultimately befell them. A story about the bonds of family and the sacrifices we make to protect those we love.

Explore the abandoned camp and uncover fragments of the lives once lived there.
Each discovery draws you deeper into the story of its people

...and the events that changed everything.

Find items from the past, holding clues as to what happened at Deer Creek.
Some were never meant to be found, some hidden in plain sight.

Photographer Charlotte Gray ventures to the long-abandoned logging camp at Deer Creek to complete her project ”Forgotten Frontiers” - a visual record of places time has slowly erased, and the quiet stories left in its wake.

What she finds is not simply an abandoned camp, but one that feels suspended in time, as though held in place by something unseen, as if its occupants stepped away only moments ago rather than decades. And in the heavy stillness of the vast, frozen landscape, Charlotte begins to sense something dormant - Deer Creek does not merely hold the stories of its past.

It yearns to set them free.

That'll be the final version of Deer Creek! (if things goes according to plan...) But... then what?I've spotted a mysterious 3d model of a character, appearing here and there over on Discord... I wonder what that's all about. Time will tell. :)That's that, have a great week everyone and keep pointing and clicking!/M

The Tragedy at Deer Creek 1.1 is Live & Demo update!

Hi everyone! I hope all is well. Stay hydrated.Thank you all for your feedback - a few surviving, cold-resilient bugs survived into Deer Creek but most (if not all!) have been taken care of. In addition of bug squashing, this update brings something our lovely little community have asked for... The in game hint-system! At times, Charlotte might end up being a bit lost when trying to solve the mystery as to what happened in Deer Creek. By rubbing her nogging while looking at her notes, she now can concentrate really hard and get additional clues as for what to do! The hint-system is disabled by default but you can enable it via the Settings menu to add a lightbulb to the bottom of the journal for additional guidance. Simply click it to get a hint - it'll check which quest is selected and what your current objective is and nudge you forward! There is usually just a single hint, but if there is more than one hint available, the lightbulb fills up to half. When you click it again you'll get another, more direct hint on how to solve the current conundrum!I've tried to keep the system from being too blunt unless you actually need it - the first hint is usually quite vague, while the second hint is more direct if you're really stuck. Let me know if you think I've been too heavy-handed!As always, thank you so much for supporting us, be it on Discord, our social media channels or the Community Hub. Should you stumble upon any issues, please let me know either on the Community Hub or by simply sending me a DM on Discord.I've also updated the demo so if you want to try it out for free, it's now available!Have a great summer everyone! Drink lots of water.

    Post Launch Update!

Hi everyone!Today marks one week after the release our debut game, The Tragedy at Deer Creek! I want to show our gratitude as well as the upcoming plans for Deer Creek as well as our studio Sparrowland. First, I want to thank everyone who supported us by buying the game, writing a review, leaving a bug report or said hello over at our Discord. I truly appreciate you all. Lets have a look at what went well:Popular New Releases! The day after the release I was browsing Steam's homepage and got a wonderful surprise - we actually made the Steam first page on the Popular New Releases section! Thank you so much for your support! Mind. Blown.Community! We've had wonderful people joining our Discord, as well as commenting at our Social media channels. I love talking to everyone - be it on the Discord, YouTube comments or the Community Hub here on Steam. I respond to as much as I can, and if I miss anything, just tag me on Discord!Reception! Deer Creek might not be a game that fits the modern landscape of games with it being slow paced, with a core story that requires the player to really pay attention to detail as not everything is presented by default and other various variables, the reception have been overwhelmingly positive.Technical stuff! Considering Deer Creek is our debut game, with no prior experience in game development, I must consider the launch a technical success. While some minor stuff popped up - as they always do - the game worked well both on desktop and the Steam Deck. What didn't go exactly as planned then?Time. At times some bugs had to linger a couple of hours too long to what I wanted. However, being a dad (it's a good thing!) and having a side-job (it's bad but a necessity!) eats time that could have been spent on fixing bugs more quickly. I've learned a lot of what not to do for our next launch though!Visibility. We hopped onboard the social media wheel way too late, resulting in that maybe not being "out there" before launching. Another lesson learn...

The Tragedy at Deer Creek is live!

It's a strange thing, working together on something for so long, for it to somewhat end in an instant. But The Tragedy at Deer Creek is now live. We're excited, anxious, worried, happy and sad... but most of all thankful to everyone who helped us reach the finish line. We wouldn't have done it without you. Thank you Boden Game Camp and Boden Game Incubator, and everyone else we met along the way. Thank you Manuel and Jennifer for reaching out to help with translations. Thank you Martin, thank you Sergei, Bianca, Björn, Ayélen, all Mattias'es... the list is endless. When me and my brother started out, we had no idea what we were doing. Honestly, we still kind of don't. We have so much to learn about making games. (Yes, a hint system is in the making.) With that said, we hope that the passion, grit and hard work we’ve poured into this project shows. The Tragedy at Deer Creek is a 3-5 hour long dark cinematic point-and-click experience about family, hardship, and the sacrifices love demands from us. We hope you'll like it.
