Delve into a world where every pixel counts as you mine and automate production chains in Sandustry. Uncover ancient secrets deep within fully destructible environments, all from Lantto Games.

About this game

Sandustry is a factory automation game where every pixel is a resource waiting to be mined, mixed, processed, or destroyed. Explore a vast and fully-destructible open world as you seek out powerful artifacts left behind by an ancient civilization.

You’ve arrived on a vast unexplored planet filled with diverse biomes and beautiful landscapes – time to bring the fires of industry! From humble beginnings sifting gold from sand, you will quickly build a growing factory, unlocking powerful new technologies and production chains as you assess the viability of the planet for further industrialization. Countless options lie before you – will you focus on developing more advanced processing and logistical capabilities across your rapidly-expanding factory? Will you take advantage of local wildlife to aid with your mission? Or will you prioritize the hunt for artifacts, spending valuable resources to unlock access to their boons? And hey, there’s no faster way to mine than with the help of a rocket launcher, right? Build a beacon of industry and automation starting with nothing more than the trusty conveyor belt, incorporating filters, drones, pipes, pumps, and a myriad of other parts as you harness nature itself to do your bidding.

From individual grains of sand and flakes of snow to seeds, spores, and chips of ice, every pixel in Sandustry is a physical entity with its own properties. Discover countless chemical and physical reactions and exploit them to develop your production chains, building a pixel-perfect factory to optimize every step, or embracing chaotic webworks of conveyor belts and lifts as long as they get the job done – but be warned, sand is coarse, rough, and it gets everywhere, which introduces a new layer of complexity. The resources in Sandustry react to each other and the world around them – ice melts into water when heated, which turns to steam and rises if brought to a boil (only to come back down as rain if you let it reach the skies). Sand absorbs water around it, slowly depleting limited reservoirs to provide the wet sand that can be sifted for gold, while watered seeds bloom into flowers that can be ignited with fire to produce vital resources.

Deep beneath the planet’s surface lie countless mysteries for you to explore. Find clever ways to overcome the challenges left behind by an ancient civilization to uncover vaults of great knowledge and power. Nothing punches through a thick wall of ice like a freshly purchased flamethrower, but perhaps you can find a way to redirect some lava instead?

Built with modding in mind, Sandustry lets you explore everything from visual tweaks and hand-crafted maps to entirely new buildings and processes that you can integrate into your production chains. Dedicated modding tools make it easy to customize your experience, share your ideas with the world, and even overhaul the whole game!

As you delve deeper into the planets of Sandustry and expand your industrial capabilities, the challenges will grow, but so too will your ways to overcome them. With fully destructible worlds where every pixel is a resource to be harnessed, your options are limitless.

Update #4 - Replumbed Pipes, Unstalled Buildings and Various Fixes

:archon_sand: -- Greetings all prospectors! We're now one month into the release, and the response has been absolutely incredible. Honestly, it feels like I can barely keep up with all the amazing things happening around the game: the builds, the mods, the videos. Every day there’s something new to get excited about. Thank you for giving the game such a special first month. :heart_sand:This will likely be the last minor patch before the first big content update. A few smaller hotfixes may still follow, as this update includes additional engine hardening that could introduce unintended side effects. :zoe_sand: Changelogv0.5.7 -- Update #4Pipes OverhaulPipes no longer automatically connect to other adjacent pipes when built. To extend a network you need to start or end on an existing pipe tile.Building over a crossing pipe line will now create a Pipe Bridge. There are many quirks with the algo supporting this, so please report any issues you find. The overlay now displays the meta color of the last piped liquid on the pipes. You can now select, move and copy/paste pipes while in Pipes Mode using the normal selection tools. Undo now also takes pipes into account.Holding Alt+C will now select both structures and pipes, enabling you to create unified blueprints.Fixed multiple bugs and issues causing various buildings to stop working and propagating.Since this was caused by many unrelated problems there may still be lingering errors, so please keep reporting anything that stops working and whether a reload fixes it or not.Lava can no longer leak through Advanced Filter Walls.Fixed Presence Sensors staying active after contained elements expired on worker threads.Fixed a bug making it possible to create a pass-through Filter by picking a Filter Wall.Fixed a bug where Conveyor Portals were incorrectly attached to the wrong pair after mirroring them with Ctrl+H.Moving the player no longer prevents you from overriding structures. You can now correctly rebind the Override / Replace...

Update #3 - Happier Critters, Hungrier Lava and Assorted Improvements

:zoe_sand: Hey everyone! I know the patches have been pretty fix-heavy so far. With this many players, even rare issues can affect a lot of people so I need to prioritize them. I've snuck in a couple of new things this time but the Major Update #1 patch is still cooking. The new content I'm working on has a lot of prerequisites like big map changes and other overhauls, so there will probably be another bug-fix and QoL update before then. As always: a review is hugely appreciated and helps a lot! :heart_sand:Changelogv0.5.6 -- Update #3You can now pet critters.Simply move over a creature to give them a little love, making them happy and temporarily boosting their capabilities.Voltblub energy output has also been boosted in general.Lava now destroys Fluxite, Redsoil and Strataform terrain.Lava density also increased to 200 (let me know if this causes any issues with your setups!).When a Thermal Buffer is cold (negative temperature), Lava will add less heat and also convert back to Cinder instead of being fully consumed.Pair this with Lava's newfound appetite for terrain and there may be some interesting automation possibilities to discover. You can now remove an Aura Extractor even if it has started crystallization.Removed crystals will be placed in a buffer and released as Auralite from the Aura Extractor once built again.Added several fixes and improvements to make flower calamity easier to deal with.Shooting or digging at them will now try to convert the growing seedling back to Wet Seeds.I also added a mechanic where it will automatically give up and try to convert back to Wet Seeds if it gets stuck between buildings.Remember that flowers are a zero sum game: one Wet Seed will always convert into exactly one flower. A seedling that grows through Wet Seeds will consume them and try to sprout one flower for each Wet Seed it consumed. That's what giving the illusion of infinite growth.Laser now melts Ice.Fixed multiple bugs creating red blocks.Fixed a bug causing Conv...

    Modding & What's Next

First off: huge THANK YOU to everyone playing, messaging me and leaving reviews. The reviews especially are a massive help. ❤️It has been a while since the last Update, but rest assured I haven't been slacking. One thing that has been getting some extra love is the modding framework and API.ModdingI really did not expect the modding scene to go this hard this fast. There are already over 125 mods and some of the stuff people are making is completely wild: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2764460/workshop/ With these many things already being built, it feels like the right time to make sure the API is headed in the right direction. I've pushed the updated modding framework to a new 0.5.5 experimental branch together with a completely new API doc that can be found here: https://sandustry.com/sandkit.htmlQuick note: mods currently require you to opt into a separate experimental Steam branch. However, since a lot of mods haven't been updated yet I've split the experimental branches into two for backward compatibility: 0.5.2 and 0.5.5. The mods branch will stay on 0.5.2 until modders have had some time to update their mods. Modding support is still very much work in progress and it will be a bit of a bumpy road until the API is stable, so I'm sorry if things feel messy right now. What's NextWork on 0.5.6 continues with the focus still on fixing bugs, improving stability, optimizing performance and working through requested features. There’s still a lot I want to fix in the current game and I don't want to start piling new content on top until the foundation feels solid. If you have an idea, request or suggestion make sure to post it on https://sandustry.nolt.io/ Also remember to upvote suggestions you think are good! That helps me prioritize and is the best way for the community to influence development.RoadmapI know this is highly requested, and I'm working on it. The problem is that I don't want to commit to or promise things I won't be able to deliver. However, I'm extre...

Update #2 - Stability Improvements, Quality-of-Life and Bug Fixes

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who has left a Steam review so far! ❤️ It's one of the best and most impactful ways you can support me and the game. Also a huge thank you to all the modders who have managed to make all these cool things without me even publishing a proper API documentation yet: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2764460/workshop/For anyone wanting to try mods and help test the modding framework, remember that you need to be on the "mods" branch in order to load subscribed mods. NOTE: This branch is unstable and not up to date yet, so do not use it if you only want to play vanilla.Changelogv0.5.5 -- Update #2 Added significantly more logging to help diagnose and debug crashes.Logs can be found at the following locations:Windows: \\Users\\ \\AppData\\Roaming\\sandustry\\logs\\main.logMac: /Users/ /Library/Logs/sandustry/main.logLinux: /home/ /.config/sandustry/logs/main.logAlso added optional Crashpad diagnostics. Since crash dumps may contain sensitive info, I will reach out to people experiencing crashes and tell them how to enable it if you want to help me debug the issues.Instruction videos are now animated images instead of video files, fixing GPU crashes and OBS capture hook loss when hovering previews. Expect slightly reduced quality and a somewhat larger install size. You can now use Alt+Enter to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode. The game also remembers which monitor you last played on.Added a workaround for the right mouse button getting stuck on macOS (e.g. the Vacuum spraying forever). The proper fix for this is still pending. You can no longer accidentally softlock yourself by using the radial menu in the tutorial.Improved Aura Extractor controls with clearer hover guidance and swarm targeting indicators. Community Guides and ResourcesIf you’re getting started with Sandustry, there are a few resources available to help. The Beginner’s Guide covers the basics and some useful tips for getting your factory up and running. You can als...
