About this game
Go!
Rescue: The Beagles is a challenging platformer/runner with unique parallax based gameplay. The game offers core gaming experience focused on score attacks and reaching high levels, paying homage to classic 8-bit era arcades. Play as Nicole or Edwin and rescue as many adorable doggies as possible. Overcome treacherous mountain terrain by parkouring, roping and parachuting in an intense, fast paced chase through colorful procedurally generated levels. Command owls and wield them as a weapon against a horde of biohazard dudes, vivisectors, lab executives and more. Upgrade your skills and consume wild goji berries to gain superpowers!

WARNING! The player can perish by falling from heights. It may happen a lot to rookies but resolute rescuers will prevail. You have been warned!
Features:
- Challenging yet flowy action inspired by classic 8-bit arcade games
- Unique gameplay based on scrolling parallax
- Stylish minimalist graphics
- Procedurally generated levels and color palettes, offering a lot of replay value and mood variation
- Shared screen two player Co-Op and PvP modes. Team up or compete with a friend
- Configurable PvP rules and winning conditions
- Skill system to boost your rescuing abilities as you advance through levels. It includes essential life skills such as Beagle Magnetism and Goji Berry Digestion
- Endless supply of beagles to rescue
Trivia:
- The initial Rescue: The Beagles prototype was created way back in 2008 for a prominent game jam. It was built from scratch in only two weeks. The Beagles won the jam, amongst hundreds of entries!
- The game's story was inspired by real events. An actual beagle abuse incident took place at a veterinary institute in developer's hometown. The news about it hit the front pages and caused public outrage. Near that time the developer Nenad was regularly hiking the Alps. On one such hike, a heated discussion about beagles took place. This created an unlikely fusion of beagles and mountain peaks in Nenad's head and thus the game idea was born.

Ingame Leaderboards Finally Here!
It is a pleasure to announce that Steam leaderboards are now fully integrated into the game. This was much requested, understandably so because a score attack game like Rescue: The Beagles is not really complete without easily accessible global leaderboards. This update also brings some other neat features. Complete list follows below: Steam leaderboards fully integrated into the game. The game now displays top 10 global scores for single player and co-op modes, as well as user's current rank and score in the leaderboards. Due to game's simplistic font rendering system, only ascii characters are supported in displayed names. Non-ascii glyph will be replaced asterisks. Controls cheatsheet displayed when game is paused to help novice players to ease-in. It shows keyboard and gamepads control schemes. Deadly height indicator now defaults to visible. Height falls are the most common form of death for newcomers and this indicator can be of great help in learning to gauge safe heights. Vegetation and particles rendering optimizations. The game should now perform a bit better on lower end graphics cards. Bugs in player movement system that appeared on lower frame rates are now fixed.Read full article on Community Announcements (nenad)Patch NotesOfficial
