About this game

Bone and Arrow asks the question: If you and your companions were left in a world with nothing but bones and arrows, how would you fare? Would you live on to fight the advancing waves of the skeleton army? Would you succumb to the bone hoard? Or perhaps you would be betrayed by an arrow through the noggin shot by a fellow archer. Grab your bow and arrows to find out!

Well looky what we have here...

Nobody said a post-apocalyptic fantasy world is an excuse to dress down. Customize your character to the nines with literally tens of options to choose from head to toe. You want to wear a lilac leather strappy number? Bam, you got it. How about golden metal cuirass with accompanying greaves and boots? Say no more. Full frontal nudity to strike fear into the enemy? That's actually a step too far, but might I suggest a tasteful loincloth instead?

Can't we all just get along?

Nope. Well, sort of. Create or join a room of up to 8 players and enjoy the absurd and violent shenanigans that can only be brought to you by full bodied VR characters. Face off in game modes such as death match, team death match and capture the flag to see whose aim reigns supreme.

Can I set people on fire?

These are the important questions every developer must ask themselves when setting out to make a game. And the answer should always be a resounding, "yeah, alright". Equip magical arrows and other power up items to give you the edge on the battlefield. Ignite, explode and electrocute your way to the top of the scoreboard.

    Version 0.4.0

Version 0.4.0 At some point, I took a step back from development and asked myself, "Is this game fun?" And from the cold, dead, emotionless black void that once housed my soul echoed a gut-wrenching, "Nah, not really." So along with making the changes that were on the roadmap for this game, I've overhauled most of the combat mechanics and added new components to make the gameplay more dynamic and engaging. Cue the Bones The title makes sense now!! There is now an added game mode to fight NPC skeletons in a colosseum style arena. This can be played solo or in a group. Select a difficulty and a duration and see what high score you can reach! Bow Charge This is a new concept to make a more satisfying gameplay loop. Your bow can now store five charges. These charges are generated passively by dealing damage with your default arrows and by absorbing projectiles with your new Bow Shield. These charges can be spent to create devastating Charge Arrows and Shield Blasts. Bow Shield By turning your bow sideways and pulling the trigger a shield will materialize in front of your bow. The shield can only be used to stop incoming projectiles, but doing so will fully mitigate the damage and generate Bow Charge that is proportional to the damage blocked. The Bow Shield cannot be deployed forever though, it can only be deployed for so long before it overheats your bow and blocking damage overheats it even faster. Charge Arrows The quiver and specialty charge arrows have been changed/introduced as a part of the mechanics overhaul. The changes include: All Charge arrows consume one bow charge to materialize, one additional bow charge can be used on a charge arrow to over charger it to the next level. Over charged arrows have separate effects than their level one counterparts. The quiver can still only store 3 types of Charge Arrows, but there is no longer a limit to how many your quiver can produce. As long as you cultivate Bow Charge you can create Charge Arrows. Charge arrows are ac...

    Version 0.3.0

Version 0.3.0 Settings Arguably the most important (and definitely the least exciting) feature of a game. Additional in-game settings have been added to the menu bound to the controller. Settings include: Locomotion preferences (Movement style, turn style). Controller preferences ( i.e. grip preferences, hand rotation, button preferences). Volume setting Quiver Activation The most impactful change in 0.3.0 is the ability to toggle specialty arrows on/off with the primary button. This feature (which is enabled by default) allows for the quiver to equip a special arrow and keep it equipped until pressing the primary button again. This feature was requested by multiple community members and is more beginner friendly IMO. If you prefer the original scheme of holding in the primary button, this feature can be reenabled via the new settings menu. Vive Wand Compatibility All these new settings were really an effort to add controller support for the OG Vive wands. It's been on my TODO list for ages and I can now happily cross this off. (Shame on you Unity for making it much more difficult than it needed to be). An important note: The "primary" button on the Vive controller is the middle click on the trackpad, and the secondary is the menu button north of the trackpad. Shenanigans You can now punch people! This was never intended to be a feature. However, while prototyping the future NPC enemies there was a clear need to be able to push them back when they get too close. After the kinks got worked out it was only logical to also allow people to slap each other across the face in PVP.

    Version 0.2.0

Version 0.2.0 Pockets Should this be a big deal? no. Was it surprisingly hard to implement? yes. Two pockets are now on the player's hips. One left, one right. Only one item type can be stored in a hip pocket at once, but there is no limit to the quantity of the item. Pocket load outs are included in PvP equipment settings. Inventory Controls You change one thing and everything must change. Removing all items from an inventory slot is done with a "long grip press" on the inventory slot instead of trigger and primary button. Pressing the grip button on an inventory slot does not immediately spawn an item. Inventory slot must be gripped and moved away from the slot to spawn an item. This allows for the "long grip press" action and other interactions. Only arrows can be stored in the quiver, and only the smaller support items can be stored in the hip pockets. Tutorial Update Why is this my least favorite thing to update? Tutorial instructions updated to reflect the new inventory controls. Made the cannon go boom! Shenanigans This is why I go to work* every day. You can finally eat the apples for some health back. Or feed others apples if that's what you're into. Since I gave people mouths, I had to give them kisses too. Because that's what I'm into. *The term "work" legally implies some form of compensation. This game hasn't earn me jack squat.
