About this game

Lio was just a regular college student, until one day he found himself in a twisted alternative reality without any memories.
Break the fourth wall and collaborate with him to find out his story.

With almost 2 years of active development on his back, "LIO" aims to stand out as unique experience by using multiple artstyles and forms of gameplay.
Play and solve riddles across full 3D and isometric-2D sequences, all while uncovering Lio's story across 2D-pixel art and 3D cutscenes.

Along with multiple ways of exploring the videogame medium, "LIO" also puts together the work of 11 different musical and SFX artists, while also featuring 3 vocal perfomances.
The soundtrack will surely get you caught in a unique atmosphere.

Reaching "the end" means nothing, or pehaps it does?
With two main endings and 3 small sub-endings, those with an high enough attention span will be able to play from 3 to 6 hours before the full story is unravelled. (Not including the easter eggs... hehehehe).

"LIO" is a completely free game developed by a single person with the only intent of sharing passion for this incredible entertainment medium we all love and to celebrate creative endeavor without caring too much about nowadays standards.
It's simple, very authorial and without too many premises, but i still hope you'll love it as much as i do!

A letter of apology from LIO's creator to all our users

Hello everyone, Fili here. I would have loved for this update and message to come out earlier, but unfortunately, I'm a full-time engineering student, and my days are rarely packed with much time to spare. Introduction First of all, I would like to thank all the people who have taken an interest in LIO since its release on Steam roughly 4 months ago. Even though it’s heavily based on a mobile game I made in 2022, it’s still my first official release on PC, and as we all know, first times are rarely the charm. That is why I would like to start this post by sincerely apologizing to everyone who had an unpleasant experience with LIO, especially due to the movement system and the “Quite The Attention Span” achievement. These are the main two issues raised in the negative reviews we have received, for which we are extremely thankful, as they helped us to understand where we went wrong. As I always say, failing pushes us forward, and I will make the most out of all the feedback (both negative and positive) I have received. Over the next few days, I’ll make sure to take some time to answer every single negative review to extend my apologies to every single one of you, and moving on, to all the others that may come in the future, but for now, here are the four steps we’ve taken: 1 - Adding a new movement system As for the movement system, I’ve been developing LIO exclusively on mobile platforms for over a year, and when I decided to port it on PC, the current movement system (based on dragging around to move) felt like the most consistent choice to me, as it gave back a similar feeling to interfacing with the original version of the game. I however did not take into account that people who played for the first time on PC could have found this choice confusing, and the movement clunky and annoying. Again, I take full responsibility for this and I’m sorry you had to experience it. I just wasn’t experienced enough to notice what I was doing. With update v1.1 I have addressed t...

    Update v1.1 - Patch Notes

Please read our post for a more in-depth explanation and an apology for our wrong decisions, thank you for your time. Movement System - Added a full WASD-based movement system As many of you pointed out, the old movement system wasn’t adequate for a keyboard-mouse setting, therefore, I added a classic WASD key control option. This should be enabled by default as soon as you update, but if for some reason isn’t, open the options and cycle the “Movement” settings until you find “WASD (Default)”. If for whatever reason you preferred the old dragging movement system, it can still be selected through the options. - Added the possibility to switch between walking and running by holding SHIFT Many of you pointed out that it can sometimes be tricky to perform precise movements, often resulting in frustrating deaths. With this update, the character will no longer run by default but instead walk at roughly 70% of the former running speed. Holding down shift will make him break into a sprint at the same speed as before. Note: This feature is only available while using the new WASD movement system - Added the possibility to use the power while moving Since you now no longer have to use your mouse to move, we unlocked the possibility to use the drawing power while moving. This allows for new interesting possibilities which you are welcome to investigate. Note: This feature is only available while using the new WASD movement system Achievements The “Quite the Attention Span” achievement is no longer unlockable and has been removed from the Steam accounts of all the people who had obtained it. Please read our post for explanations. Miscellaneous - Improved some behind-the-scenes processes on Trials 2 and 3, which should run smoother. - Improved movement system rotation precision in all the main trials - Removed the “first version” banner on the first launch - Improved all the options menus to no longer fail to display visual fading effects - It is no longer necessary to agree to o...
