Design and expand a harmonious village in Lands of Koastalia, where your role as Mayor involves crafting realistic settlements and ensuring the well-being of your island inhabitants through resource management.

About this game

Lands of Koastalia is a relaxing city building game with a unique building system. As Mayor, your primary mission is to keep people happy. Craft natural-looking villages, manage resources within and across them, explore an island, and meet the needs of your residents.

Unique building system

The game offers you to settle on a uniquely generated enchanting island. You will find a creative building system that is based on an irregular grid and allows you to build natural looking villages.

You can literally create different buildings by just drawing shapes on the grid. Our special building algorithms will generate a unique building each time, bringing an element of visual charm to your village.

Great for relaxation

The game has a huge focus on its visual part. It’s very pleasant not only to build a great city, manage resources, automate things, but also to just relax and draw your village like a painting on an island as a canvas.

Resources Management

While your population grows their needs become more and more complex. Build production chains in order to fulfill all the needs of your residents.

Strategically settle villages around different resources, and manage production and supplies to thrive in this tranquil and visually captivating world.

Difficulty Levels

We like both relaxing experience and resource management challenges, so the game will have different difficulty levels to meet those two worlds.

State of the Game: From Experiments to a Playable Core

Hello everyone!Almost two years passed since the last development update. It was very quiet here, although the development was active all that time.I’m making the game in my spare time, so progress is gradual. During these two years I’ve spent a good portion of time on experimenting, reconsidering ideas, and finding the version of the game that is fun to play.Finding the Fun Through ExperimentationSince the previous update, I’ve tested many different mechanics and systems, including town regions, several approaches to AI, villager behavior, production bonuses, and more. For a long time, the game wasn’t really a complete game, but more like a collection of different prototypes. I was experimenting with different ideas and deciding whether I like them or not. Some experiments worked, many - didn’t. Although, each one of them helped me to define what the game should become.Reaching a Playable MilestoneAt the beginning of 2026, the game reached an important internal milestone. The main features are now established, the core gameplay loop is working, and the overall direction of the game is much clearer. Instead of playing with prototypes I finally started playing the actual game, adjusting the balance, identifying problems, and fixing major bugs.I’ve also started running small playtests with a limited number of people. As expected, these tests uncover a lot of small issues, mostly with UX. But the overall feedback on the core loop and foundation is good. The biggest area that needs improvement is the UI and UX. Many things that feel obvious to me after years of development aren’t clear to someone playing for the first time. How the Game WorksThe Core LoopThe game is built around developing a settlement and managing its production. You construct buildings, setup up production, organize supply chains and produce resources needed by your population. Satisfying your villagers’ needs increases their happiness, which helps attract new residents to the settlement.A larger population...

    Building system improvements

Hey! From the moment of publishing the Steam page, I was working on improving the building system. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44890005/3c69f5568f4adad5741a88a9a646958e6b8f1801.png Previously, you could find that land plots were very simple: some area with a fence and a building right in the middle. I thought it's very boring and would like to make the generation more meaningful and interesting. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44890005/239a9e010dd3620f4a9ac36198d0a8d3c919d56e.gif Since then, I have been trying different ways to generate land plots that will look like a real place that human beings can live in. Here are some examples of what the new system can generate. This is still a work in progress feature that will be improved during the development process. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44890005/e8e786a4bcf641d641b67c827d58a0c132b65b51.png
