Explore hand crafted dungeons, fight or befriend tons of zany monsters, and discover the ancient truth behind the origin of monsters!
Monsters of Mican is a first person, party based dungeon crawler RPG, often known as a Blobber, with turn-based combat. Hundreds of secrets hidden throughout the dungeons, offering unique and exciting rewards!
Dozens of NPCs with their own stories and personalities!
Thrilling boss battles!
A monster arena where you can watch any monsters you choose duke it out!
Diablo-like loot rewards, with fixed Artifact items as well as generated items grouped by rarity and enchantments!
Monster Buddies, a system that allows you to befriend monsters and then visit or summon them to fight for you!
6 post-game challenge dungeons with specific themed rules and conditions!
Monster Rush Challenge: fight every monster in the game, sequentially!
Boss Rush Challenge: fight every boss in the game... ALL AT ONCE!
An original soundtrack featuring over 20 unique compositions made in the style of classic 90s CRPGs
A robust list of difficulty options and video settings
An in-game cheat vendor that will trade you powerful wands for various cheat codes
Full gamepad controls
The game takes place on Mican, a world turned upside down long ago by an event called "The Amalgam Anomaly" which birthed hundreds if not thousands of different types of monsters, creatures, half-breed amalgams and other nightmares into the world. The game has you create a party to venture into a mountain at the heart of Spiny Island to discover what the monsters in the caves are up to... and discover other mysterious secrets about the world in the process!

Every element of the UI has been updated and improved, both in functionality and style!
All buttons, backgrounds, fonts, item icons, ability icons, descriptions, boxes, borders, layouts... everything! Inventory items and equipment have been significantly upgraded!

Freezing the sea within the Kraken's lair will now reveal a new, icy cave in Albright Outpost, an entrance to a new dungeon- the Ancient Snowdrift!
Brave the freezing cold temperatures and you'll find a Sigil Keeper- one of four new optional bosses hidden throughout the world. Defeating them will grant you unique brand new abilities and passive powers! Try and find all four!

Something is stirring deep beneath the ground.
A new pathway has opened up in the Unending Tower, leading to a brand new area known as the Mineral Realm! Learn about ancient Micani, fight tricky crystal monsters, avoid traps, solve puzzles and find your way through a nested maze to confront an old familiar name about the sins of his past, and what devastation the future may bring.
Monsters of Mican: Crystal Edition brings forward this brand new post-game story with multiple dungeons, bosses, and an ending that lets you once again choose how the fate of all of reality is decided.
Other Features:
The Warren- a new dungeon accessible just outside of Alright Outpost, "hidden" by a not-so-inconspicuous bush. Brave the deadly traps hidden by the Thieves Guild to earn yourself honorary membership, or perhaps instead help a darker force...
Frank's Racetrack- what's cooler than a talking hot dog? A talking hot dog with sunglasses! What's cooler than a talking hot dog with sunglasses? A talking hot dog with sunglasses riding a skateboard! Race against Frankfurter The Fast in one of three difficulty levels to earn unique prizes and stat boosts that are all about speed and agility! Find the racetrack outside of the cafeteria in the Unearthed Halls Level 2!
Fishing- Pick up the fishing rod lying around against a rock on the beach and get casting in any body of water, sewage or even lava! A new NPC named Herman the Crab Hermit will give you a quest to find all 12 types of fish in the world, but be warned that fishing too much in one spot can draw the attention of fearsome sea beasts....
Nearly 40 new monsters! From Gemignite to Carewolf to Challahback, enemy variety has never been better! Now there are nearly 300 monster types to fight, befriend, and chat with! And with 4 different Monster Buddy interactions for each monster that's... A lot of dialogue!
See the detailed event post for the rest of the changes!

The Vitreous Expansion introduced three huge new dungeons:
Spinewood Forest- home to the Fairy Queen Bryxialla, this dungeon teems with traps and creatures that want nothing more than to put you in the ground to fertilize the soil. Beware the many illusions and foggy spots in the forest, lest you lose your way...
The Pipeline- brave the stench as you trudge through toxic muck to receive the unique bounty offered by the denizens of the sewer. Prepare to go for a swim as you fight the mighty Dungen Master and proceed to Lord Muffin's lair...
The Butlery- a magically interconnected space meant for storing and processing food served to all inns throughout the world who belong to the Tavern Association. The inner workings of the Butlery though are not for the faint of heart, as you must brave four unique and discrete zones before gaining access to the most prized innkeeper's items within the Vault.

Minor gamepad fixes
Small update this time- after the UI overhaul there were a couple of bugs with gamepad controls, which this update aims to fix. Also, if you gamepad controls enabled and the gamepad gets unplugged or bugged or something, there is now a prompt to disable them and go back to standard mouse controls just by clicking the mouse during gameplay. Hopefully that helps. As always, thanks for playing!Read full article on Community Announcements (Skittzo)Patch NotesOfficial
Minor fish fix
I accidentally left my super-secret all-powerful Developer Carrot (TM) sitting outside of Herman's house after the last update. It has now been removed for Your Safety. Also fixed a minor issue with handing in the Fire Snapper not prompting the response that it was supposed to. That's all for today!Read full article on Community Announcements (Skittzo)Patch NotesOfficial
Minor update- some requested save features, fish checklist
Skittzo here again, with another minor update. This time it primarily adds a few requested features with a few minor fixes. Fixes first- Bug fixes: Acid and thunder sigil keepers would respawn indefinitely, this was not intended. This is now fixed. Fixed a language issue with one of the fishing results Fixed an issue where character portraits were not clickable in training/learn skill screens. Just found one screen where that was not fixed, and it will be updated ASAP. Requested features: Added the minimap state to savegames- now if you save the game with the minimap up it will still be up when loading this game. This is just something I overlooked for a long time since I rarely use a minimap myself Added the "active character" state to savegames and level transitions- this was just something I had overlooked and not even thought about, but now when transitioning to a new map or loading a savegame the active character will carry over from when the previous level/save. Fish checklist- Fish items will now have a checkmark and an added bit of description after you've handed in a fish of that type to Herman the Crab Hermit. This will make it easier to know which you should sell and which you should keep to be able to fulfill his quest. As always, please let me know if you encounter any bugs or have any other requests, and thank you for playing the game! And I hope you consider leaving a review!Read full article on Community Announcements (Skittzo)Patch NotesOfficial
Small change to previous update
The last update introduced a new keyboard indicator icon which would read "space" for things like buying, selling, or hitting the first interaction option during popups- this would read "space" regardless of what key the jump function was assigned to, which could wind up being misleading for those who remap jump to a different key. So now, it has just been changed to show whatever key the jump function is assigned to. One other addition, which is probably more for me than anyone else, there is now an option to skip the intro combat tutorial by holding left click (or right face on gamepad) for two seconds. This makes my playtesting so much less of a pain! As always, thanks for playing!!!Read full article on Community Announcements (Skittzo)Patch NotesOfficial
Slightly less minor update! (Typos+feature requests+more!)
This update addresses (hopefully) the remaining typos within the game, a few other bugs, and adds a few new requested features as well as updating the gamepad icons and a few keyboard icons. Typos: I have scoured as much of the game's text as I can manage to fit in a text editor with spell check and made dozens of corrections. There's always the chance the gather text tool missed some (or spellcheck missed some) but I did go through something like 15 million text characters and I'm only one man. Bugs: - Fixed Shield of the Defender not being classed as either heavy or light armor - Fixed an issue where you might wind up getting duplicate thief cards - Fixed an issue where sometimes clues/quest notes would be added again after using the corresponding object more than once - Fixed a rare issue where boss triggers could fire after the boss was defeated and softlock the game - Fixed an issue with the mine floor crack tiles showing up (if you have high awareness) when reloading or coming back to the level after triggering them. This may still happen on existing save files, but any new files should see this fixed. - Fixed an issue with some interactions not awarding the reward to the entire party when they were supposed to - Fixed an issue where the fire sigil keeper was not properly on a navigation mesh and was therefore stuck and couldn't move to attack (whoopsie) - Fixed an issue in Unfortunate Consequences where one of the walls could be triggered before proceeding through the doorway, blocking your path - Fixed an issue with levers sometimes responding "false" if the object being moved/triggered was already gone - Fixed a few UI bugs, including spacing between items and the word "of", and scaling the weapons properly on the overview screen Additions: - Added a difficulty dependent "alert nearby enemies" function. This allows enemies who are attacked to alert nearby visible enemies in their group, even if the player can't see them. Meaning, you can't cheese a group of...Read full article on Community Announcements (Skittzo)
