New Challenge Mode: Snax's Gambit!
Avast! Thar be Challenges, Now!Ever wanted to fight two Yetis? How about skydive onto the top of Sugarplum Mountain? Well, now's your chance! After spending the holidays watching streams of Swashbuckler's Xmas, we got right back to work and added a bunch more gameplay to the game. This build contains the first release of our new challenge mode: Snax's Gambit. How it worksAs you progress through the story mode, you'll unlock challenges. For each challenge, you can try to beat your own high score or impress your friends on the online leaderboards. There are two types of challenges: Battle and Collection. For Battle challenges, the objective is simple: defeat three rounds of enemies and earn a high score by being accurate, avoiding damage, and maximizing your combo multipliers. In Collection challenges, you'll need to collect all the presents as fast as you can, completing optional objectives to avoid end-of-round penalties.Snax Who?Snax, whose real name is Chandesku Uenagi, is Captain Smokey's first mate. He's extremely eager to make his gameplay debut, after previously only starring in the post-game sequence. If you complete a challenge, you'll get a readout of your score and any bonuses or penalties you've earned. If you fail, you'll get Snax, laughing at your incompetance!Bonus FeaturesWe've included a few features with this release:Two new elf variations: Scouts, who are smaller and more agile, and Titans, who are bigger with heavy attacksAdded enemies to the minimap: This should help players find enemies, such as during the battle against The Dopplegangers.Cap can skate on the pond in Elf Outpost, now.ScreenshotsRead full article on Community AnnouncementsAnnouncementsOfficial
Happy New Year, Me Mateys!
Happy New Year, Me Mateys! Fresh off our Xmas Day patch-stravaganza, we're pleased to announce two new achievements to unlock:First, there's "Snow No!!!", which is achieved by defeating all the snowmen in the Sugarplum Mountain - Bottom level. Our motivation with this achievement is two-fold: 1) to add an additional challenge to players who are already adept at speed-running up the trails in this level and 2) to clarify that the snowmen are saying "snow no!!!" and not "oh no!!!" when being defeated. This was a bit a point of pride in the studio, and point of confusion on more than a couple Twitch streams. Note: The snowmen are also saying "snow, snow, snow, snow..." when idling around launching boulders at the player. We'd heard some reports of overly-negative snowmen on social media, and wanted to set the record straight! The other new achievement is hidden, but we'll give you a hint: It's also something you can do in Sugarplum Mountain - Bottom.Swashbuckler's Xmas is only $2.99 during the Steam Winter Sale. JenTheSurvivor streams Swashbuckler's Xmas!
JenTheSurvivor recently streamed a hilarious full playthrough of Swashbuckler's Xmas on Twitch. We got to chat with her during the stream, which was awesome! Jen even used the dodge roll during the Yeti fight, which is apparently not something you see very often. Thanks, Jen! Snowman combat tweaks
This small update changes the snowman enemy behavior to prevent them spawning boulders when Captain Smokey is very close. This should fix an issue where the player was insta-hit by a boulder as soon as it is spawned and make defeating the snowmen more satisfying. Also, we're planing to add an achievement for defeating all the snowmen in Sugarplum Mountain - Bottom in a subsequent update. This should give players even more reason to engage with them.Big thanks to JenTheSurvivor for streaming Swashbuckler's Xmas on Twitch. You can see Jen take some of these point-blank boulders on YouTube: You can check out the full stream on Twitch:https://www.twitch.tv/jenthesurvivor/video/2651471292 Merry Xmas! Patch update: Max's Presents - Reforged
Ahoy! With this update, we've tweaked how the red presents hidden in each level work. There are now ten (10) presents in each level, and locations of the presents on each run are randomized. This should provide a bit more consistency across the initial run and better replayability for subsequent runds, as well as provide more reason to explore the whimsical world of Swashbuckler's Xmas.Bug fixes:Fixed an issue where the boulders in Sugarplum Mountain - Bottom would collect in cornersFixed an issue where the boulders in Sugarplum Mountain - Bottom would insta-hit players on spawnFixed an issue where the Yeti's animation would freeze when the player was far awayFixed an issue where if you got enough air on the sled, you could end up in the lake! Most of these issues were called out by Xop0 on Twitch. Thank you, Xop0, for our biggest stream, yet! Check out full stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/xop0/video/2653442807Swashbuckler's Xmas is 40% off during the Steam Winter Sale.
