You and up to 7 of your friends must battle it out to become the ultimate splurge-lord. Fill up your tiles and splurge them in order to spread your colour and eliminate every other player. Watch out though, as after too long, the map will start to shrink. Happy splurging!

In Splurge, navigate the strategic challenge of outspending friends as you expand your color across a contracting board. This early access strategy game from Epicjedster promises intense competition and quick-thinking in every round.

About this game

Splurge is a multiplayer strategy game where up to 8 players play on an online board and the only goal is to be the last player remaining. Select a colour and splurge all over the place to dominate your friends! Place on a blank tile to claim it, and fill it up to immediately claim all tiles adjacent to it, but watch out as your friends can do the same. Will you survive the splurge purge?

Epic splurging tutorial:

Features:

  • 2-8 players

  • Online multiplayer

  • Controller support

  • Custom soundtrack

  • 9 different map types to play on

  • Two gamemodes

  • Four modifiers

  • Endless splurgery

How to play:

Each player takes turns filling in a cell on a tile with their colour. Once a tile has all of its cells full, it explodes, or 'splurges', spreading your colour into any neighbouring tiles. This can claim unclaimed tiles, or ones already claimed by your friends, and can create long splurge chains! Last splurger remaining wins.

It's time to splurge.

    Splurgemas Major Bugfix Patch

Merry Splurgemas everyone! I hope you're all thoroughly enjoying your holidays (personally I'm really loving the time off uni). With Christmas right around the corner, I've finally finished work on a massive patch that fixes all (currently known) gamebreaking bugs, glitches and crashes in the game. This is a massive update, as before the game was pretty unstable and in my opinion close to unplayable, but with this patch (hopefully) players won't have to worry about random crashes or softlocks or anything of the sorts. This update doesn't come with much content, only adding a new music track, new Steam achievements and some minor visual changes.Notable Changes:Added a new song that plays during decayAdded 2 new Steam achievements, "No Skill Issue Here" and "Nihilism"Added the ability to tie when all players get eliminated simultaneously or two or more players have the same score (alternate gamemode)Overhauled the game's logic system, allowing for much smoother and more consistent gameplaySlightly modified animations for tile deletion and hoveringLike 100 bug fixes but idk i forgot to write them all down lolLogic Changes:Before this update, there was no central 'system' that controlled tiles beyond the initial creation of the game. Tiles would dynamically update each other at the starts/ends of their animations. Unsurprisingly, this was very bad. Probably the biggest issue to come out of this was the wild client synchronisation problems, which would often result in animations pausing/getting stuck in an endless loop, and thus bricking the game. Now, all logic is stored in a master array which the tiles can access but not change. Their animations are now purely visual and don't affect gameplay in anyway (as they should be). Every turn, the tile manager looks at the master array and the next turn and calculates all tile progresses and updates, storing the information in a series of lists, before executing them over given time intervals. Visually, this looks almost the s...

    Splurge Anniversary Update

The one year anniversary of Splurge's early access release is here! To celebrate this milestone, the Anniversary Update (v0.3) has been released! This update adds a new gamemode, game modifiers, and much more! NEW GAMEMODE: Tired of the current game loop? Well great news! The new gamemode changes the way you play the game! Previously, the only way to win was to eliminate every other player and be the last one standing. It didn't matter how you got there; whether you were dominant for the entire game or managed to scrape by and get a lucky chain of splurges to steal victory at the last second. Now when you play in this new gamemode, each player collects points at the end of every turn for the amount of tiles you currently have claimed. You also get a small handful of points each time you splurge a tile. When there's only one person left, instead of that person automatically winning, the person with the most points wins. MODIFIERS: The only way you used to be able to customise your splurging experience were changing basic settings (map size, map type, etc). Now with the addition of modifiers, there are vastly more customisation options for the game, allowing for increased replayability. This update introduces 4 modifiers, each unique and designed to be compatible with one another, with more planned for the future. The current four are listed below: Fog: Any tile that is not owned by you, or adjacent or diagonal to you is shrouded in a thick layer of fog, limiting your visibility of the map. The visibility is dynamic, meaning gaining or losing tiles will change where the fog is covering. Blind: Every other team's colour is replaced with the default white colour, meaning you can't see where everyone else's tiles are, or how much progress they have on them. You can still see when players place on a tile, or when their tile splurges. Sleepy: At the start of the game, some tiles will be 'asleep', meaning they can't be directly placed on, effectively rendering them as barri...

    Many More Maps Update

Hello all my loyal splurgeheads! After a (slight) wait, the Many More Maps Update (v0.2) is here! The primary focus of the update is the three new maps that have been added into the game, which are detailed here: MEGA SPLURGE {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44787992/d505ff089054800d78696e7085bb8f86e8ab7811.png Replaces the center 4x4 area of the map with a giant tile. The tile is easy to take control over and splurges into 16 adjacent tiles, but takes 16 turns to fill up. MAZE {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44787992/f7a01cad08fc1a9421e5aa24bf3b6997d9c3c4e2.png The map is now a claustrophobic network of ranadomly generated long corridors. Getting high splurge combos is easy on this map, but extra care is required! MIRROR {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44787992/d3efe50589faa89bdc64af05608c0ac7086a7133.png This map tesselates infinitely, and it goes on seemingly forever. There's nowhere to hide on this map! Full Changelog: General content changes: Added 3 new maps Added 3 songs to the soundtrack Removed the Islands map Added jingles to the start and end of the game Changed the decay alarm sound Gameplay changes: You can no longer win by getting a high enough combo Decreased the default decay speed Players can no longer place on a tile with max progress of one Added a prompt for when players try to place on a tile they can't place on Added an ability to save/load map presets Quit to menu button now requires you to double click it Visual changes: Improved win screen transition Added random tiles to the background of the game Background now goes red when tile decay begins Tiles now bounce periodically Added particles to the background of the game Changed the tile select/hover icon to an arrow Bug fixes and misc changes: Fixed some visual bugs related to rendering of tiles Made slight optimisations to rendering Fake/decor tiles can no longer overlap each other Fixed tiles not fully disappearing at the end of the game Fixed glitch which caused buttons to sometimes not revert colour Lowered the volume of some r...
