About this game
Story
Rise of the Village Hero is a lighthearted indie RPG set in the charming Kingdom of Dobroja. Play as Guy, a hunter who returns home to find his village, Warlington, under attack by orcs and goblins. Fight to protect your home, uncover the cause of the chaos, and restore peace by exploring diverse lands, interacting with factions, and completing quests. Discover treasures, brave dungeons, and become the hero Dobroja needs!

Difficulty
Rise of the Village Hero offers a fair challenge. You start as a hunter facing an orc army — a fight you’re not yet prepared for. The game has a learning curve, so use health and stamina potions wisely, upgrade gear when you can, and avoid rushing into large enemy groups. Save often, as the game features permanent death, and use the quick save function to avoid losing progress. Movement is click-to-move, and the camera may take some getting used to — you’ll sometimes need to scroll up or zoom in to navigate around high obstacles.

Features of my game:
Combat:
Combat is simple but enjoyable, combining melee and ranged attacks with a few useful abilities.
Players have mentioned how satisfying it is to fight monsters like orcs, skeletons, and ghosts, with the added challenge of permadeath making every encounter feel more tense and rewarding.
Abilities
Combat Ability: Whirlwind Pirouette
Unlocked after the first tutorial quest, this skill deals damage to nearby enemies. It can be upgraded to level 5 by purchasing from shops and is best used when surrounded. Equip it via the quick action bar.
Healing ability: Healing chant
Use the Healing Chant to recover health. It consumes stamina and has a cooldown. Upgradeable to level 10, it can be purchased from shops, earned as a quest reward, or found in the world, offering players different ways to heal.
Dialogues, quests and leveling up:
NPC interactions are lighthearted, funny, and sassy, adding charm to the game, with serious moments for balance. The story is enriched through quests, dialogue, and the main theme of protecting your home and country.
Inventory management and shops:
Find a variety of loot throughout the world—dropped by enemies, hidden spots, or quest rewards. Manage your inventory with health potions, gear, and weapons. Sell surplus items to buy better equipment and gain the edge in your struggle.
Exploring Interiors:

While I was testing the achievements I uncovered a small bug that got introduced when I added the partial controller support. Abilities bar was being called twice leading to multiple ability bar being clicked. Fixed this in this little patch.Read full article on Community Announcements (Luduspaxstudios)Patch NotesOfficial
Rise of the Village Hero – Version 1.1 release & final update
Hey everyone!I want to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has played the game, given me the chance to keep working on it, and shared feedback along the way.I originally released Rise of the Village Hero in January 2024, and as of March 2025 the game reached version 1.0, with all the content I set out to add. In the previous major update, I was also able to introduce partial controller support, which was something I really wanted to include. With this latest update, I have now completed the quest achievements in the game. I’ve tested them to make sure they trigger correctly, and they’re all working as intended. There are 60 achievements in total, so I hope you enjoy unlocking them as you progress through the quests. This update also marks the final update for my first-ever commercial game. I’ve achieved everything I set out to do with the project- and a little more. However, this is not the end for the world of Rise of the Village Hero. I plan to take everything I’ve learned from developing this game, along with all the feedback I’ve received and ideas from other modern ARPGs, and use that knowledge to improve future sequels.Thank you again for being part of this journey. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m incredibly proud to have reached this point. Guy and I are very grateful that you gave us the chance to tell this story, and I’m excited to see what stories I’ll be able to tell in the future.Thank you, and see you at the next one.SilviuRead full article on Community Announcements (Luduspaxstudios)Patch NotesOfficial
Achievements Work Underway
Hi everyone! I’m currently working on adding achievements to the game. Chapter 1 is fully covered, as well as the areas between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, including the Meadows and the Kingdom of Macin. This will take a bit of time, as once all achievements are set up, I also need to make sure each one triggers properly when you complete the relevant quests. It’s something I’ve wanted to include for a while, and a few of you have asked for it too, so I’m really looking forward to getting them implemented.I’ll post a much bigger update once everything is complete. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy seeing the new icons and descriptions on of the achievements.Thank you for your continued support. See you in the next update!
