About this game
A story-driven RPG inspired by classic JRPGs, featuring a unique fast-paced turn-based combat system built around timing, combos, and survival without traditional healing.
Follow Saragat and his allies as they become entangled in a web of conspiracies surrounding The Core — a shadow organization manipulating world events from behind the scenes. As nations edge closer to war and powerful factions begin hunting Saragat, an even greater ancient threat stirs beneath the surface
Act 1 delivers a focused 10-hour narrative experience packed with strategic combat, genuine character interactions, and a world shaped by decades of lore.

Replace traditional equipment with spiritual Crests that define each character’s combat role, strengths, and weaknesses.Real-Time Airship Battles
Take control during aerial combat sequences that punctuate key moments in the story.Classic Overworld Exploration
Travel across a traditional JRPG-inspired overworld filled with secrets, encounters, and story events.Post-Game Challenge Dungeon
Face difficult endgame content that will continue expanding post-launch ahead of Act 2.
Saragat’s life is thrown into chaos when he becomes a target of The Core, a hidden organization operating behind governments, militaries, and global conflicts. Pursued by multiple factions and caught between rising superpowers, he and his allies uncover secrets tied to an approaching catastrophe that threatens the entire world.
Combat in Granser revolves around managing Focus, exploiting enemy weaknesses, and maintaining offensive pressure rather than relying on traditional healing loops.
Use active timing mechanics to strengthen attacks, defend against incoming blows, and perfectly parry enemies to create openings. Build party-wide combo chains to maximize damage output and gather Burst energy for devastating finisher attacks.
Character progression avoids traditional grinding. Permanent stat increases, abilities, and growth come from duels, training, and world interactions.
The Crest System allows deep customization without conventional gear systems, enabling players to shape party members into specialized combat role
Granser is the culmination of over two decades of worldbuilding and development by solo developer Steve Gal, creator of the Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity series.
Originally conceived as a comic project before evolving into games, Granser continues the wider universe established through the five-game Skautfold saga:
Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity
Skautfold: Usurper
Skautfold: Into the Fray
Skautfold: Moonless Knight
Skautfold: Knight's End
Developed solo without crowdfunding, Granser: Act 1 marks the beginning of a larger ongoing story.

Plans for Act 2 -3
Hello againI have spent the last month or so exploring my options for Act 2 and Act 3, including even looking to break my independence and find a publisher for Granser...One of the options is currently being prepared is a small Kickstarter to secure approximately 12,000 to cover the voice acting and a full OST by Josh Culler. This is NOT something I wanted to do, but it has become clear I might have to. I really wish I didn’t have to, but the steam algorithm has once again proven to only accelerate traction, both ways.Even if a Kickstarter were to fail, act 2 and 3 will still be completed, but will unfortunately lacks voice acting and a dedicated ost, neither of which is ideal. Also, it saddens me that LESS than 1% of you have reviewed the game. It means a lot to hear from players who enjoyed the game, even if just a few words. Thanks for readingSteve.Read full article on Community Announcements (Pugware)Patch NotesOfficial
Patch #7.2
Quick fixes: -Pugs worked before but at some point the array corrupted and this lead to crashes, now fixed. -Upon using Burst the per character directional combo display was wrong, and everyone would only see Saragat's combo. The combo BEFORE initiating was still correct, and it was looking for the correct input but the help display was wrong. This is now fixed.Read full article on Community Announcements (Pugware)Patch NotesOfficial
Patch #7.1
Added: -Experimental full keyboard rebind, including mouse button support. Actual useable mouse cursor will NOT be added, that would require a total rebuild of every menu, plus it makes basically no sense considering how menus were designed to function. -All prompts will now read the saved key-binds, if I missed one please tell me, I didn’t exactly have time to test it. Fixed: -Food and Recipe tabs were mixed up on using LT on gamepad, now fixed.Read full article on Community Announcements (Pugware)AnnouncementsOfficial
Month 1 updates recap.
It has now been over a month since Granser - Act 1 has released.I want to thank everyone who bought and played the game, and extra thanks to anyone who left a review, it's extremely important. I really hope you enjoyed the first third of the story I have been brewing for almost 20 years in various formats. I have tried to make this story in comic format 3 times, then when I finally worked up the courage to try making games, an attempt was made in rpg maker (the demo is still out there, good luck finding it though) and then I pivoted to a game that would have taken place in the gap years before Granser, and finally settled on the Skautfold idea, a series of games in different genres to grow my skills and serve as heavy foreshadowing for Granser. The fact I was able to finally get here is nothing short of a miracle, and I want to thank anyone who helped along the way, and supported the games. Without you, my dream would never have come true.Thank you, sincerely.I wanted to take this moment to go over what changed and my immediate plans for the near future.Recap for what was added since release:Added:-Tutorial menu to the escape menu, this needs refinement since it has minor spoilers if read in full at the start.-Dream museum is now open, accessible from the red dream. Further refinements required.-Anime opening added to title screen after 1 minute of idle. It resets when moving the cursor, etc.-A few new sound effects.-1 new song for the museum.-Upon finishing the game you can now enter the red dream. If you didn’t do Petra's quest-line, you will be granted an invite regardless at this point.-Floor 1 of Petra's tower is NOW OPEN and can be completed. It's a bit of a hike in challenge, you must utilise the crest system and think of a strategy or you will be crushed fast.-1 new boss and npc, possibly playable in the future. (inside the tower that is)-2 new music tracks.-Enraged variants of 3 existing enemies, further floors will have brand new tower only enemies.-Burst ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Pugware)
