V0.5.3806 Block & Guard Break, Backstab, Melee Engagement Rework
V0.5.3806 is now live in the playtest. The focus this time is army combat: shield units can now block. Attacks from the front are stopped by the shield, and flanking or getting behind a shield wall is the way to break it. Here's a quick look at Block and Guard Break in action: Want to try it yourself? Join our Discord to get access to the playtest: Join the Discord Full patch notes below. New Features Block & Guard Break Shield-bearing units now have their own Block value. Attacks from the front are stopped by the shield, dealing no damage and not interrupting the unit's action. Each successful block consumes Block. When Block runs out, the unit is guard-broken: it can't block for a while and takes double damage, after which its Block recovers. Blocking only works while the unit is standing firm and facing the attacker. Attacks from the sides or behind can't be blocked, and units that are staggered or knocked down can't block either. Greatshield Units can block while moving and attacking. Sword-Shield Units (small shields) can't block while moving, except when charging. Flanking or getting behind a shield wall is an effective way to break it. Blocks have their own hit animation, VFX and sound, clearly distinct from a normal hit. Backstab Attacks that land from behind deal bonus damage, which stacks with critical hits. This applies to both your units and enemies. Other Units now have standard bearers. Your units, allies and enemies carry flags in different colors. Soldiers in the rear rows now move side to side while waiting to engage. Adjustments Reworked melee engagement. Units now spread out across targets, queue up to fill open spots and flank around the sides, reducing back-row pile-ups, idling in place, unexplained retreats and endless circling. Improved Archers. Archers now spread out across targets, actively face their firing direction and lead moving targets. Improved avoidance when allied units cross paths or are packed tightly together, reducing clipping, ...Read full article on Community Announcements (BumeowGames)AnnouncementsOfficial

Devlog: Talent Tree for the Warmaster + a Rebuilt Army System + Whats next
A Full Talent Tree for the Warmaster + a Rebuilt Army System Hey everyone! We've been heads-down on two big things this update, and we put them both in a new devlog video. 🌳 The Warmaster's Talent TreeIt's not just flat stat boosts. A lot of the bigger nodes actually change how your skills behave — charges that block arrows, extra charge stages, attack follow-ups, healing that layers on buffs, and more. A few highlights: Arclight Slash (Q) — take the talent and you can charge it up, then push the charge even further for a wider hit. Holy Light Recovery (E) — goes from a single burst of healing to a heal over time. Aegis Charge (R) — adds a burst of extra damage at the end of the charge. 🪖 Army System, RebuiltWe reworked the army system under the hood. Battles used to cap at 500 units — now we can push it to 1,500. 🗺️ What's NextEnd of July: hero talents go live in the test build After that: an army block mechanic, more levels, and a talent tree for the armies themselves If you're enjoying the updates, follow the game to catch the next devlog, and join our Discord community for a shot at the next test build. See you next time!Read full article on Community Announcements (szz.炽焰之争请加愿望单)AnnouncementsOfficial
Public Playtest Concluded - Thank You, and What's Next
Greetings, warmasters! Our public playtest has officially wrapped up. Over 400 players jumped in to try Scorched Warfare, and we genuinely can't thank you enough for being willing to test what is, honestly, still a "game framework" more than a finished game. Your patience, feedback, and time meant the world to us, and a huge amount of what we're working on next came directly from what we saw you do (and struggle with) in the build. What's Changing with the Playtest Build From here on out, we're going to keep pushing new features into the playtest branch. That also means the build is going to get unstable for a while - half-finished systems, placeholder values, the occasional crash. We don't want a brand-new player's first impression of the game to be a broken version, so we're closing public playtest access for now. If you already have playtest access, you keep it. Nothing changes for you - new builds will keep rolling out as we make them. If you'd still like to join testing, drop by our Discord and we'll get you a key. What We're Working On Right Now①Talent Tree System (Meta Progression)Right now, the protagonist is already very strong from your very first run. The talent tree allows you to grow in the specific direction you like. Here is the desgin draft.②Army AI OptimizationWe're continuing to iterate on the army AI system, with two clear goals: better performance when there are a lot of units on the field at once, and fewer edge-case bugs in formation, pathing, and engagement behavior. On the Roadmap (More Details Later) A few systems are already in planning but not ready to show in detail yet. We'll do a dedicated update on each as they come together:Block / Parry systemArmy-wide active skillsElite units and Large unitsEquipment systemDifficulty tiers for expeditionsThank you again to everyone who playtested. For a small indie team, getting 400+ people into our test version and giving us thoughtful feedback is genuinely a milestone - it tells us we're on the ri...Read full article on Community Announcements (BumeowGames)AnnouncementsOfficial
