About the Game
ASTROBOTANICA™ is a science-driven exploration adventure set on prehistoric Earth. You’re Xel - an alien botanist stranded on a hostile primeval world while searching for rare plant species capable of saving your dying home planet. Ancient Earth is beautiful, mysterious, and toxic to your physiology. To survive, you must study the planet’s ecosystems, discover powerful prehistoric flora, and master the art of botanical experimentation.
Scan unfamiliar plants, gather rare ingredients, and combine their properties to create tonics that restore health, energy, and CO₂. Learn how different species interact, uncover powerful botanical aspects, and develop new ways to adapt to Earth’s dangerous atmosphere.

Journey through tropical coastline, rocky cliffs, lush jungles and hidden caves filled with unique plant habitats, environmental mysteries, and extinct wildlife. Discover forgotten locations, unlock new regions, and uncover pathways hidden behind ancient puzzles.
Encounter a lone Neanderthal surviving in the prehistoric wilderness. Heal his ailments using handcrafted botanical remedies and uncover the secrets surrounding his mysterious totem.
Earth’s atmosphere is deadly to Xel. Use your crashed ship as a mobile research base - store energy, power advanced systems, generate CO₂, and recharge your equipment while preparing for deeper expeditions into the unknown.

🌱The First Step of the Astrobotanica Rework
🌱The First Step of the Astrobotanica ReworkHello! The biggest Astrobotanica update since launch is now available! Early Access allows us to shape the game together with our community, and this time we're introducing some major changes that will redefine many core gameplay systems.1) HUD and Map ImprovementsWe're introducing the first UI improvements, including changes to the HUD and map system. For now, you can expect slightly updated controls designed around the refreshed interface, as well as a new exploration-based map reveal system. These are only the first steps toward a complete UI overhaul planned for the future.2) New Resource: EnergyEnergy is now becoming one of the most important resources in the game. It powers ship modules such as the CO₂ Generator and other advanced systems. Plants are the primary source of Energy, and once processed into tonics, they can be used to fuel your ship's technology.3) Plant Aspects ReworkedPlants now feature the following aspects:Detoxic - restores HPToxic - reduces HPAntioxidant - restores CO₂Oxidant - reduces CO₂Energetic - restores EnergySedative - reduces EnergyProbiotic - adds PassiveAntibiotic - removes PassivePassive - fills the digestion meter4) Gates to New AreasThe game world has been divided into new regions, and progressing further now requires meeting specific conditions. Discover the right plants, tonics, and solutions to unlock access to previously unreachable locations.5) Ship Interior OverhaulThe ship's cockpit has been expanded with functional modules, strengthening the ship's role as your primary base of operations throughout the adventure.6) Plant HabitatsPlants will now primarily grow within dedicated habitats. By discovering new habitats, you'll also discover new species associated with specific biomes and environments.7) Progression ChangesYou'll now discover data discs throughout the world. Reading them requires upgrading your spacecraft, and each scan consumes a full reserve of stored Energy. New disc...Read full article on Community Announcements (Zandorath)AnnouncementsOfficial
🌱Next Updates | Part 2
🌱Next Updates | Part 2Hey!Recently, we revealed some of the changes coming to Astrobotanica over the next few updates. Today, we’re back with more details about what you should expect.1) Plant AspectsPlants will soon be assigned the following aspects:Detoxic – restores HPToxic – reduces HPAntioxidant – restores CO₂Oxidant – reduces CO₂Energetic – restores EnergySedative – reduces EnergyProbiotic – adds PassiveAntibiotic – removes PassivePassive – fills the digestion bar2) “Digestion” BarA new bar representing “digestion” will appear on the HUD. The new bar will consist of around 12 segments, which can be filled using Passive aspects. You’ll only be able to consume as many plants and Tonics as your digestion bar allows. Applied aspects will disappear after a certain amount of time.3) Plant HabitatsWe’re planning for plants to primarily grow within specific habitats. By discovering new plant habitats, you’ll also uncover new plant species, which will now grow in dedicated biomes.4) Kickstarter RewardsThe upcoming updates will also introduce rewards for players who supported us during the Kickstarter campaign. Some time ago, we sent out emails asking for your SteamID. Please make sure those messages didn’t end up in your spam folder, as we’re still waiting for a few replies! Our current plan is to release the first major update later this month. If you have any questions, we’ll be keeping an eye on the comments - as always!Linktree with our social media linksThank you for being part of the Astrobotanica community. 🌱Next Updates | Part 1
🌱Next Updates | Part 1Hey! Time for changes! Some time ago, we asked you to fill out surveys about what kind of players you are. Based on that data, as well as all your reviews and comments, we’ve planned the next steps for Astrobotanica’s development. We’re working on major updates that will reshape the core of the game to make it even more enjoyable. The new update is coming later this month, but we don’t want to keep you in the dark, so we’ve decided to reveal some of the planned changes that will be introduced to the game over the course of the next few updates. The game structure will now combine survival with metroidvania elements. Access to different parts of the map will require crafting complex tonics, while new biomes will contain rarer plant species with unique properties. We’re introducing the first small UI changes, including updates to the HUD and map functionality. For now, expect slightly reworked controls adapted to the refreshed interface, as well as the ability to reveal the map through exploration. These are just early steps toward a full UI overhaul. The most important resource will become “Energy,” used to power machines (CO₂ generator and others) aboard your spaceship. The main source of Energy will be plants, processed into tonics that can fuel ship systems. We’ve significantly expanded plant interaction mechanics. You’ll be able to pick and eat fruit without scanning it first (though you won’t know its properties - and the outcome might be unpredictable). Scanning itself will now progressively reveal a plant’s aspects and will also require Energy. You’ll need to decide whether to fully scan a plant or conserve Energy. The aspect system will change to form aspect pairs. This will encourage experimentation to create tonics without negative side effects. As a result, tonic crafting will become a light logical puzzle. In the future, we plan to introduce new aspects, such as “sticky,” which will allow you to bind resources together (e.g., stone or wood)...Read full article on Community Announcements (Zandorath)AnnouncementsOfficial

Since Astrobotanica is currently available in Early Access, we’re able to shape it in a direction that suits you best. We’ve reviewed all your ideas and feedback, and based on your input, we’ve decided that the upcoming update will kick off major changes to the gameplay. This will likely affect save files, but the result will be a deeper experience with systems that are also clearer and easier to understand. In some ways, it will feel like playing an entirely new game. As soon as we’re ready, we’ll start sharing more details about the changes. In the meantime, we need a bit more input from you. We want to better understand who you are and what you expect from the game. To do that, we’ve prepared a survey that will significantly help us shape Astrobotanica moving forward. 🌱How to Use the Flashlight? | TUTORIAL
🌱How to Use the Flashlight? | TUTORIALHey Explorers! In today’s tutorial, we’ll talk about the flashlight. When exploring caves, having a light source is extremely useful. You can use a crafted torch, but a better option is your scanner - it has a built-in light!Just press “F” on your keyboard, and the scanner will start illuminating the area. Keep in mind that its battery is limited. The good news is that it recharges automatically, no matter where you are.Linktree with our social media linksThank you for being part of the Astrobotanica community.
