The Witch's Cauldron: prologue – A small plot part of a simulator of a medieval witch from the young indie team Harvey Games.

You are a witch living on the outskirts of a small medieval town with her cat. Potions are your tools of choice. With your cauldron you brew your way through the world. But you've got to keep your balance. On one side of the scales is the terror you bring. On the other - your fame among the people. If the scales are tipped too much, someone will definitely come for your life. But it doesn't really matter, for your soul was lost long ago. And the cycle will continue.

While the shadow of the inquisition is yet far away, peasants, townsfolk and even the king himself are coming to pay their respects to you. Listen to their problems, learn their mysteries, unlock new recipes, and keep in mind that your benevolent or malevolent intentions will surely make a difference.

Branching narrative.

Meet a cast of weird petitioners with their incessant requests. Help them or follow your own agenda. Uncover secrets, play with people's fates or just make the cows sing. Potions you choose to brew for your visitors influence future events.

Potion discovery.

You begin knowing only a couple of basic recipes, but by experimenting with mixes you can unlock new ones. Not every problem can be solved with rat poison (but nothing stops you from trying). And no matter what gruesome end you've met in your last cycle, you get to keep all unlocked recipes. If you hit a block in your research, you can always ask for help, but are you ready to pay the price?

Keep the balance.

Don't let fame or fear get to your head. And remember: peasants have pitchforks and there's a lot of them.

Plethora of endings.

The multitude of potions and plot twists ensure high replayability. Some recipes, game mechanics and endings become unlocked only when certain conditions are fulfilled (like beating the main story or getting some game-ending events).

A cat.

You have one and you can pet him.

The witch's Cauldron is out! A narrative roguelike about a medieval witch!

Greetings, Potionmakers! The Witch's Cauldron, our very first game, has finally been released. We've been working on it for two years while closely listening to the feedback, watching streams and trying our hardest to make a game which would reward you with if not the most hardcore, then at least not wholly unpleasant experience. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2251010/The_Witchs_Cauldron/ {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44776648/f40881032c120834e61ed583985bd3d9463a31d4.png Unlike the demo and Prologue, this version of the game features every bit of up-to-date content: - Full version of King's story branch - Bandits story branch - Archbishop story branch - Auto-brew function which becomes available after learning most of recipes and can be turned on and off in options - Arcane Circle story branch which grants the ability to manipulate Fame and Dread using rumors - A modest wardrobe for our witch – new apparel unlocks with certain endings - List of every possible ingredient combination (Experiments tab in your recipe book) - Ability to drag and drop Bobby the Cat (into the cauldron too) and feed him the ingredients - Several new cinematics The Witch's Cauldron released on 24.01.2024 and (at the time of this post) got about 280 reviews on Steam. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44776648/cdc44b5bc54afd66a5e6c79d854a602b6d5fcb44.gif {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44776648/b7849262271659dd33a97105bb786ef81bb02dbb.png Release revealed several important problems. The biggest one was probably the one that got named The Day 30 bug. What was supposed to happen: when the player runs out of story cards, the Moving ending should activate. Instead the moving happened randomly and when it was supposed to happen originally the game locked or crashed instead. We fixed it and now everything is working as intended! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44776648/06a63766a687afbf78a0dcbd72fa6ad801722419.png Here's the most important fixes of the patch: - The Rainbow Drakkar and Story of the Chalice achievements now work correctly - Fixed th...
