SubwaySim 2 – The Great U4 Scavenger Hunt
How well do you really know the U4 by now? 🚇Since the release of SubwaySim 2 – Berlin Route DLC: U4, many of you have already spent plenty of time exploring the new route and its four new stations – and you’ve probably discovered quite a few details along the way.Our previous community events have often focused on your best screenshots. This time, we want to try something a little different:Today marks the start of our first U4 Scavenger Hunt! 🔎We’ve selected three details hidden somewhere along the U4 for you to find. Of course, we won’t tell you where to look. Instead, you’ll only receive a small riddle for each one. Some might be relatively easy to discover. For others, you’ll need to combine clues, do a little math, or take a much closer look at your surroundings. 👀❔ Mystery #1Sometimes people leave their names in places where you wouldn’t expect them.At one of the U4 stations, three names have been immortalized.Find them and show us where they’re hiding.❔ Mystery #2Time for a little math. 🧮Two numbers meet on the same street.Together, they add up to 46, while the difference between them is 14.Which two numbers are we looking for – and where along the U4 do they meet?❔ Mystery #3The longest wait for the U4? Probably well over 100 years. 🕰️While trains run through the tunnels every day today, back then someone was curiously watching how it all began.Luckily, someone apparently had something to read while waiting.Find this moment. 👀How to ParticipateIf you think you’ve discovered one of the three mysteries, take an in-game screenshot clearly showing the detail you found. Then post your solution on the official SubwaySim Discord in our new channel:#u4-schnitzeljagdBut be quick: In this scavenger hunt, being the first to find the correct answer counts.Once one of the mysteries has been correctly found, that discovery is taken. SubwaySim 2 – Berlin Route DLC: U4 | The First Days After Release
The first few days since the release of SubwaySim 2 – Berlin Route DLC: U4 are now behind us. We’ve been very happy to see all the positive feedback, your screenshots, and the many first impressions you’ve shared with us. 🚇Of course, we’ve also read the more critical feedback. Two topics in particular came up frequently: the price in relation to the four stations, and the question of why we chose the U4 instead of, for example, the U2.Today, we’d like to take a closer look at both of these points – and also show you a small feature that many of you apparently haven’t discovered yet. 👀A Look Behind the U4One topic that came up frequently in your feedback was the scope of the U4 in relation to its price. At the same time, many of you asked why we chose the U4 instead of, for example, the U2.There was a very specific reason behind our decision: With this DLC, we wanted to test for the first time how a new route could be integrated directly into an existing map, rather than creating a separate map for it.For this first step, we deliberately chose a compact line. The U4 gave us the opportunity to fully implement the necessary technical processes and integration into the existing Berlin game world on a manageable scale.Even though the U4 is a comparatively short line with four new stations, many hundreds of hours of work went into its development. Beyond the stations themselves, this includes the entire track and tunnel infrastructure, individual signage and materials, passenger information, timetables, scenarios, and numerous details along the route. At the same time, we deliberately took the opportunity with the U4 to further develop several technical aspects of SubwaySim 2. These include, in particular, the new signalling system and dynamic tunnel lighting. In the long term, these improvements are not intended to remain exclusive to the U4. We would also like to bring both systems to other areas of the existing network and retrofit them accordingly. However, we cannot ye...Read full article on Community Announcements (d.seiler)AnnouncementsOfficial
SubwaySim 2 – Berlin Route DLC: U4 | Available Now!
The time has come! 🚇Following the announcement at gamescom and the first previews over the past few days, you can finally take a seat in the driver's cab yourself:SubwaySim 2 – Berlin Route DLC: U4 is available now!Take over services on one of the shortest lines of the Berlin U-Bahn and drive through the Berlin underground between Innsbrucker Platz and Nollendorfplatz. The U4 Expands BerlinWith the DLC, the existing Berlin map grows with the addition of the U4 and its four stations:Innsbrucker Platz – Rathaus Schöneberg - Bayerischer Platz – Viktoria-Luise-Platz - (Nollendorfplatz)The individual stations have been recreated with their characteristic platforms, entrances and connecting areas, as well as individual signage, materials, lighting, and numerous other details. The route also includes the corresponding track and tunnel sections, reversing facilities, and a variety of route-specific objects and details.Just like with the GI/1E, this DLC was once again developed in collaboration with 3DZug.One Route – One Connected BerlinAs we explained in our previous post, the U4 is not released as a separate map.Instead, the DLC directly expands the existing Berlin map. If you own the U4, the new stations, tunnels, tracks, and route sections become part of your existing Berlin game world. This means you don't have to switch between different versions of Berlin – you can experience the new areas within the same map.New Signalling Technology and Dynamic Tunnel LightingThe U4 also introduces several technical additions to SubwaySim 2.A new signalling system has been implemented for the route, designed to more closely reflect the signalling technology and operational procedures of its real-world counterpart. The tunnel sections also feature something new: dynamic tunnel lighting controls the lighting depending on ongoing operations.Appropriate IBIS, ELA, and Daisy content has also been integrated into the new route.Timetable, Career Mode, and Four ScenariosOf course, you can opera...Read full article on Community Announcements (d.seiler)
