About this game
Free Chess
Free Chess is a free physics based chess simulator where you are free to play the game of chess with the freedom of however you like. (Have we mentioned free enough?)
With the use of physics simulation, move pieces just as you would on a real chess board, with the added benefit of playing with friends across the world!
With many different settings and themes for your chess sets the game is always pretty to look at!
Take the game up a notch and invite multiple friends to duke it out without limitations.
Invent your own rules and play however you want!
[Warning: This game is PHYSICS BASED, this means you CAN knock pieces over while you play. Please check the controls in the pause menu when playing to learn how to avoid doing this (hold right click while you move the piece holding left click to lift pieces over other pieces). Also note this game can be played very silly where you can move the opponents pieces and even skip your turn and be generally silly. If this isn't your jam, please don't leave a negative review detailing how you knocked over all your pieces and hated the physics aspect of the game, this is how our game was intended to be played]

Standard IV & Dark Elven Set Release
Hey all, We've got 2 DLC releases in one here! However one of them is completely made by a new artist who has shown extreme interest in the game since it's first day of release. It's our first venture into implementing other artists work into our projects, and hopefully you guys like it! Standard IV: created by said artist! The Dark Elven set:This is the first set that physically couldn't be replicated due to floating parts, but we thought we could try out some different styles. As always, Stay Awesome! -GrimmGitzRead full article on Community Announcements (GrimmGitz)AnnouncementsOfficial
Free Chess Updates & Announcements
It's been a while since Free Chess had some love so we thought it due time to do exactly so, but there's a bit to discuss along the way.For anyone following our Development tale, you might know that we have a new game "Realms at War" which is heavily evolved around the core concept of Chess at it's roots, but there has been a lot we've had to work on and refine to get Realms at War working nicely, that made us realise Free Chess was missing a couple things. The benifits of learning! So one of the major updates is our online readability, we are using Steams online services, which means we don't have to use our own dedicated servers, but doing this tends to skip being able to see EVERYONE online at once. We have attempted to fix this multiple times, however it isn't something that semes to be possible, you will only see current friends and a relatively local population on the servers at any time. This really sucks because currently we have a semi lively audience (according to Steam). Lifetime total units98,403Daily active users69(average, past 7 days)Lifetime unique users35,779 These numbers are super awesome in our opinion and we are really sad that you can't all see each other when you are online, hopefully one day in the future we manage to kick this issue in the butt and the world can openly see one another. One of our major issues on Realms at War is exactly this, so we will be working on it! So with that off of our chests, what's new with the game? Update list:NEW STOCK FISH AI UPDATE (This means our AI in game is far better then the version prior to this update, so prepare for better games against bots!)New Multiplayer server menusNew map (Menu scene) now playableNew clock adjustment (You can now change the time for a match!)Added password protected serversNew Free Free Chess set (Standard III)New Free Free Chess set (Realms at War Set)Added Bug TrackerUnreal 5.7 engine updateAdjusted controls so picking up a piece fully raises it, removing need to hold left clic...Read full article on Community Announcements (GrimmGitz)AnnouncementsOfficial
