Explore Building Relationships and experience life as a house that rolls, jumps, and dates other buildings on an island. Created by Tan Ant Games, this casual simulation offers a unique blend of romance and quirky gameplay.

About this game

As the new arrival to the island, you're here to meet eligible bachelorx pads and find the love of your life! Enjoy a one-of-a-kind story as you navigate a bizarre dating adventure amongst a unique set of structures.

Uncover hidden secrets!

A variety of biomes across an island, jam-packed with goodies! Search through a somber forest, climb up a snowy mountain, or just lay in a flowery field.

Realistic building movement!

Throw away your dreams of home ownership! Instead, become the house! Embrace the freeing sensation of flying!

Go on a date!

Looking to shack up? Choose between Millie (a windmill who might step on you if you ask nicely) or Tenet (who's just a himbo tent).

Or go fishing instead?

They say there’s plenty of fish in the sea… but you won’t find any around here. We replaced all the fish with cars because it just made more sense.

And much more!

Dev Update: Talking about the Process!

Hello fellow structures, sorry for the silence! I've been real busy working on the rest of the game and wanted to take this quick moment to update y'all on how things are going :)Earlier this year, I got a lot of encouraging words from fellow devs and it's been helping me push towards the finish line. Progress is steady (just storyboarded the ending cutscene, now working on programming the final minigame), though I've still got a bunchhhh of side-content left to do. Overall, I'm pretty positive we'll still launch this year!Again, I can't share tooooo much about what I've been working on, but wanted to take the time to talk a little bit about my ✨ process ✨The Process: WritingSo Building Relationships is the first game I've ever written! Before this, most of my practice has been through personal journaling, free-form poetry, emails, and a lot of texts on Grindr... which just about sums up the vibe of the whole game, if I'm being honest. Here’s what the plan roughly looks like. I started with a plot graph and slotted in what could be the climax, what could make be the rising action. And as you can imagine… it’s changed a lot. But this simple beat sheet helped me understand the pacing, especially early in the project.(a lot of spoiler-y stuff marked out)A lot of my time writing is actually spent on cutting and simplifying stuff. Generally, I give myself days, weeks, or even months between drafts -- just to give space to reset and fairly evaluate what I've written. It’s really helpful, especially for comedy, just to see if I can actually get the joke that I'm aiming for. The Emotional ArcsThis may come as a surprise to some... but there's quite a bit of story in Building Relationships. The narrative is very personal to me, and it's taken a lot of time for me to process all of it -- from figuring out how to tell a story that's true to who I am and true to what the game wants to be.Just to be clear, the game only has 1 ending, and it's still a rather short game (nothing to...

Dev Update: The game is launching on PC & consoles THIS YEAR!

Hello fellow structures!Building Relationships is coming to XBOX and PS5!!!!That's right, we are launching on PC & consoles SIMULTANEOUSLY!!! So excited!!! You can already check out the store pages on XBOX and PS5!!! What have I been up to?I was in Europe & Japan for two separate games event, and it was a much needed break. Making this game, I think I am my biggest enemy -- I am just constantly so stressed and worried about soooo many aspects of this game. This game means so much to me, sometimes I forget how silly the whole game is in the first place.Rest assured, I'm more fired up than ever to execute on my vision and really deliver a full-on experience for you all :)Check these trailers out if you haven't!I made two new separate trailers for the summer showcases! There's pole dancing AND depression!So.... no release date? Not yet! I'm looking at the amount of work I have left and am fairly certain it'll be done by this year! If you're wondering like "wow, this game is taking so long", here's part of the answer (the other part is that making an ending is really hard).Nothing to announce yet! Some Marketing NumbersIf you're a dev, I shared wishlist numbers on Reddit along with lessons learned, tips and what not. Will be sharing more post-mortem, retrospectives and what not once the game is done!Okay, that's it: here's one last funny imageuntil next time :))

Dev Update: How the Game Came Together

Hi fellow structures, it's 2026 (happy belated new years)! In case you missed it, I made a gameplay trailer that is meant to clarify what exactly the game's about. (Feel free to skip this if you want to go in blind)Anyways, it's been a minute since the last update and I wanted to write a little Dev Update to:share how I got started on Building Relationshipsgive progress updates (yes it's still coming out this year)First Off, Thank You for a Wonderful 2025Making this game has been a truly life-changing experience. I've been able to travel to so many places to share the game and talk about the design behind it. I'm so glad that this silly concept has found its way to so many people. I appreciate each and every comment, review, and coverage (across the Steam demo, YouTube videos, streams on Twitch, articles written, etc).I can't wait to show the rest of the game to y'all! So How did the Game Come Together? The most common question I got when I first announced the game was "What was the devon when they made this?" Well, I'm here to tell you all about it (spoiler: I was sober throughout)Back in 2016...I started my undergrad in Game Design and Development in Rochester, NY and in my first year, I did a bunch of 4-hr game jams. One of them had the theme of "Construction/Destruction" where I was debating between a game about "Buildings" or about "Relationships"... Next thing I knew I made this:I barely knew how to program, the game was mainly a bunch of if-else statements. But, it's where the concept (including the names "Billding" and "Cementha") came to be.I was inspired by absurd dating sims (like Hatoful Boyfriend) that enraptured gaming YouTube back then. I tried to explore what this game could be like as a visual novel dating sim on RenPy, but it never went anywhere. The reality is that I did not play enough VNs or dating sims, and I could not bring this concept to life in a genre I'm unfamiliar with. And so I shelved Building Relationships to focus on my studies and work ...
