Discover the twists of detective Lucas’s case as you explore and investigate in Kill The Shadow. Team up with the enigmatic Shadow who sees the past to uncover hidden truths and shape your own destiny through choices that matter.

About this game

A puppy named Teddy, found dead under mysterious circumstances. Master Reed, vanished in a bustling temple fair crowd. Years of grudges festering at the Shipwreck Wharf. Scattered newspapers and handwritten notes in an unknown prison... Traverse the eclectic districts of Dark Tide City and investigate a string of bizarre cases.

Recover the city's lost memories. Piece together the truth behind the city's fracture ten years ago. Kill. Judge. Or perhaps… kiss(?) the mastermind.

It pairs 3D HD environments with 2D pixel characters, creating a striking modern-vs-retro visual style, and offers a wide range of freely explorable locations across distinct districts, including the rusting steel jungle of a long-shuttered factory, the muddy Shipwreck Wharf built on stilts, the floating slum of the Pig Cage Walled City where Chinese tradition and neon lights bleed into one another, and the bustling, crowded streets of the Old Town District.

Freely choose how to improve your abilities: Strength, Spirit, Charm. Pick your own approach to each case: Play mind games? Grease some palms? Or just beat a confession out of the suspect?

Deduction System: Gather, analyze, and connect the clues. Craft your own unique investigation trail!

Meet the people of Dark Tide City and uncover the stories behind their masks... whether it's the sanctimonious Captain Theo, the fiery young Axel Flint (son of Griff Flint), the defiant Rafe Carter, the cheerful shutterbug Kiki, the elegant Mrs. Reed, the rumored hex-casting Priestess, the warm-hearted fishmonger Auntie Bass, or the foul-mouthed little rascal Chiffon.

The Shadow: A strange creature clinging to your back. It reads memories and reconstructs the traces of the dead.

"Don't worry, Lucas. We're just using each other. You use me to find the killer, and me? I love nothing more than feasting on the bizarre tales. Hahaha—!"

Kill The Shadow Update - 25161753

Hi everyone. This update fixes the random crashes that have troubled some of you for a long time. Details below. Bug Fixes Fixed an issue that could cause random crashes: an older version of the Unity render pipeline contains a bug that leads to heap corruption. The code path triggering this bug has now been disabled. Investigation Notes The crash reports we received showed no consistent trigger, and the logs were hard to pin down, so the investigation took quite a while. We eventually confirmed that an older version of the Unity render pipeline contains a bug causing heap corruption. With this type of issue, the point where the corruption occurs is usually not where the crash happens, which is why it took so long to track down. After disabling the affected code, the game has been running stably for over two days with zero crashes. We hope this was the root cause for most of you, and that your game stops crashing for good. If you still run into crashes after this update, please keep reporting them in the community, ideally with the time of the crash and what you were doing at that moment, so we can continue investigating. Thanks to everyone who reported the issue, and thank you for your patience.

This update brings new part-time jobs, new ending content, improved controller handling, and several fixes. New Features & Adjustments The Old Machinist at Pig Cage Walled City now offers additional part-time work. Wendell Forge and the bar at Shipwreck Wharf now offer part-time jobs as well. In the grand finale, if you previously chose to become Rafe's dad, a new conversation will now play when you talk with Rafe's mom on the bridge at Pig Cage Walled City. Gamepad sprinting now uses stick-magnitude hysteresis: push past the threshold to run, drop below it to walk, preventing repeated switching at the boundary. Removed the Y button sprint binding. Bug Fixes Fixed an issue where an empty dialogue option could appear when obtaining Ethan's photo after stealing the ticket at Shipwreck Wharf. Fixed an issue where the still-held B button could skip dialogue right after exiting the Deduction interface with a controller. Kill The Shadow Update - 24588860

This update fixes several issues and adjusts some gameplay details: New Features & Adjustments Added a patch so that completing a certain notebook now forcibly triggers some related animations, regardless of save data. After finishing Lily's storyline, you can now sit and chat with the Fisherman's Wharf Owner directly — no need to do the part-time job first to unlock the dialogue. Adjusted the dialogue of the vendor at the shop on the second floor of Reed Mansion. Added button hints to Master Rochester's Rewind when entering the County Office for the second time. Bug Fixes Fixed an issue where the player could get stuck when looking into the distance from the right side of the Factory's second floor at the start of the game. Fixed an issue where a flowerbed on the second floor of Reed Mansion was missing its base model. Fixed overexposure issues with some background scenery at Shipwreck Wharf, and filled in the large hole at the spot where the kid hides his money near the start of the game. Fixed an issue where Max's cage in Pig Cage Walled City would occasionally fail to drop its key. Fixed an issue where loading a save during a dialogue with autosave could restore certain already-activated mechanisms in the scene (e.g., the elevator gate at Reed Mansion and Mrs. Reed's door — objects that could no longer be passed). Added the clue "The Firefly Gang's Activities" to the small starting cell in the Prison, as it was previously unobtainable anywhere.
