About this game
Welcome to SECTOR 80 — a failed region of space where things went SUPER wrong. By the way, you’re stuck here, and trapped in a malfunctioning robot body. How about that!
But don’t worry, you’ve got me, your best bud, Frank!

Oh, what’s this? I’ve just been handed an instructional pamphlet to read to you good people at home. I'm gonna put my own spin on it.

In MS80, you’re made of things and enemies are made of things. Shoot enemies, take their things, and put their things on your things!
There are so many things — firearms, batteries, gimbals, soda cans, armor, tasers, energy shields, my goodness! You’ll never stay the same shape for too long!
And all those things? They’re physical. That means heat, and mass, and electricity — fully simulated!
You’re a real live wire — a running, jumping electrical circuit that eats energy and spits lasers. Good thing SECTOR 80 has more than enough of those to go around.
Our marketing manager says this is the part where you need to see violence or you'll lose interest!
What, you didn’t expect those pesky evil robots to just hand over their parts nicely, did you?

Yeehaw!Closed alpha playtesting continues, and we'd love to have you join us! See our Discord for how to get involved! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44773805/7114f0c885566f0e3a857850b5831bd05dae3728.png Last time, I showed you all OUR NEW STEAM PAGE! Check it out if you haven't seen it already! This week, I'm catching you up on all the content I've not been telling you about because we've been too busy showing off our Steam page. Also we're cowboy themed today. You'll find out why in a couple of seconds.Revolutionary Revolverator Revolves Rapidly. Results? Resoundingly Relentless Retribution! We've wanted a part just like this for a loooong time now. In the past, we'd jury rig something up with a mix of switches and hotkeys to get it to work. It'd be clunky, and a little micro intensive.Lilith has made all of that a thing of a past. It's easier if I just show you what it does.Firepower has never been so handy. The Revolverator part family allows you to hook one socket up to your arm, and then to quickly rotate between equipped weapons (or other components!) with the press of a button! We've got a few variants to loot variety and progression.Nature is a beautiful thing. And yes — you CAN stack revolverators on revolverators. When have we gone too far? Will wonders never cease here at Second Half Games?Grate ExpectationsWe're still overhauling a lot of the art assets in game right now, prepping for a demo release soon. A key area of focus in the ship that the player wakes up in.Things are looking good! But unfortunately we've run into a couple of collision issues — nothing major, nothing unusual for a good honest indie game studio.I don't know if our player character would necessarily agree though...Maybe it's time for another one of them safety briefings again?Looking AheadIt's been another busy week for us all, but we've got a ...Read full article on Community Announcements (StartToday)AnnouncementsOfficial

See our Discord for how to get involved! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44773805/7114f0c885566f0e3a857850b5831bd05dae3728.png Last time, I gave you all a very important company-mandated safety brief. I hope you all took notes. There WILL be a quiz later. I won't say when. It'll be a surprise. What I've got to share with you today is: OUR NEW STEAM PAGE!We've all been really hard at work on it, and it's a full team effort — everyone at Second Half contributed something to the page!Eat Energy, Spit LasersFirst and foremost — stunning new key art, by our talented Art Director and Concept Artist, Laura!MS80 in essenceExperts say our new key art "looks frickin sick" and "is bomb as hell!"10/10 dentists recommend you show all your friends our new key art. When asked what impact this would have on readers' dental hygiene, 100% of dentists responded "no" and kicked me out of their office.Teaser Trailer TeaserThat's not a typo! We have a teaser trailer. It's not quiiiiite done...so here's a teaser for THAT teaser trailer! Man, I'm getting really good at this marketing thing, huh?Coming soon to a Steam page near you!Looking AheadOKAY I know I said I'd have a bunch of content to show this week yadayadayada — but we launched a new Steam page and kind of everything goes to the side when a milestone like that is reached.Still got a LOT of cool things to show next week, including some new components, environments and UI. FSH #69 — Workplace Unsafety Brief
https://secondhalf.games/news/2026-08-28-fsh-69Happy Friday! We all knew this number was coming, so I need you all to be a good audience and exercise some responsible readership and not giggle too loudly.Closed alpha playtesting continues, and we'd love to have you join us! See our Discord for more! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44773805/7114f0c885566f0e3a857850b5831bd05dae3728.png Last time, vandals defaced Florida IX and the player character got some fresh kneepads. This week, I've been instructed to take you all through a workplace-mandated MEANWHILE IN SECTOR 80 Safety Brief Retrospective. In other words: "What not to do if you're a killer robot with lasers for hands".Are you all paying attention?I don't actually care if you are. My contract says I have to run this brief at least once a year. Some of it is pretty rusty, but if you pretend to listen, I'll keep pretending to teach.A History of ViolenceBig tip: it's very important that you take immediate and appropriate action when you open a door and don't like what you see.In an early build of MS80, the player did not have a root power core part (that wouldn't happen until we watched Pacific Rim as a team, which has caused irreparable damage). Despite this, enemy targeting AI still aimed for centre of mass.As everything on the player connected to one single torso socket — a decent shot from an enemy on a player who wasn't taking evasive action could fry you instantly. Combined with a somewhat haphazard approach to balancing weapons voltage, well...And that was the weakest laser in the game at the time! When Mr Laser Is Live, Mr Laser Is Not Your FriendOkay, this one is kind of our own fault really. There was a time where we had a thing about clipping and camera movement and aiming, and it all didn't quite line up as snappy as we needed it to.If you ran around and then turned too quickly, your own laser hand could still be in your own torso. Firing it went about as well as you might expect. This happened embarrassingly often.A...Read full article on Community Announcements (StartToday)AnnouncementsOfficial
FSH #68 — Goldilocks Zone
https://secondhalf.games/news/2026-08-21-fsh-68/Happy Friday! The weather cools, the Sun sets earlier and the end of August approaches. As the seasons change, so too does Second Half Games ramp up in the last months before release.Closed alpha playtesting continues, and we'd love to have you join us! See our Discord for more! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44773805/7114f0c885566f0e3a857850b5831bd05dae3728.png Last time, we exhibited some shocking behaviour and fundamental changes to core gameplay. This week, we're doing vandalism and self-improvement!Florida IX, the Galaxy's Trash HeapIt's no secret — Florida IX is kind of a disaster, but that doesn't mean its former residents didn't have something to say about it! Our Florida IX billboard has a new look!I said they were vocal — not eloquent! Now With 16x the ArticulationOkay, fine — it's now been three issues in a row where I've shown off progress on the player character. Initially, I thought about maybe not showing it off again, but then two bigger, better thoughts came up:The player character is kind of a big deal and you spend literally the entire game staring at it — get used to seeing it.The player character looks frickin' sick. With kneepads like this, maybe there's still time to make a skating game instead. And JOINTS! Our limbs aren't held up by telekinesis anymore!UI UpdatesJack told me he's updating a lot of our UI, but that he didn't think it'd make for great viewing. I think he's wrong, and I have this image from a few weeks ago to prove it.Please only view with appropriate eye protection. As Jack said: Now you can have a theme that reflects your true love for Second Half! That was just a little change to our editor UI a while back (remember: we are releasing with a full-fledged level editor!), but in general all the game's UI is undergoing a much needed tuning!Looking AheadThe player character should soon be finalised, the UI changes are looking good, and a lot of bug fixes have gone through to reduce general jank and...Read full article on Community Announcements (StartToday)AnnouncementsOfficial
FSH #67 — Target Audience
https://secondhalf.games/news/2026-08-07-fsh-67Happy Friday! Welcome to another ordinary edition of Friday @ Second Half! Yup, just any old edition of our now-weekly-again newsletter! Our closed alpha playtest is still running, and we'd love to have you join us and try out an early demo build! See our Discord for more! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44773805/7114f0c885566f0e3a857850b5831bd05dae3728.png Last time, I let you behind the scenes to look at our player character iteration, and teased a new enemy! This week, we're exhibiting some frankly shocking behaviour — and showing off some sweet new robot joints!Danger: High Voltage! An ancient relic of MS80's earliest days — the golden age of Gamescom 2024 — returns, renewed, refreshed and bloody dangerous! That's right, it's everyone's favourite melee-weapon and door-panel-overload tool — The Shock Stick! This week, Jack's been overhauling our lightning damage behaviours and effects. He's also been testing them out on some poor, helpless batteries that didn't know any better. That'll teach them to try and limit electricity to safe and predictable standards!Zip, zap and zop! I can't make an unlimited power joke, because I already made one in a previous Saturday @ Second Half and an ancient evil wizard curse prevents me from repeating jokes. I can't actually find which edition I wrote the joke in, but it's in there!Core Gameplay, RedefinedLaura continues to do fantastic work on our player character. This week, the robot gets some articulated joints and a much chunkier power core!Beware the A-Pose.An unusual development emerged in the Second Half Discord server last week following a new playtest build release — our player character's feet and legs were the perfect thinness to fall through things like gratings! Oh no!You will be pleased to know the character now has bigger feet. They are invisible...but the collisions are there, trust me.These bad boys can carry so many electrical components and dismembered security drone torsos!Lookin...Read full article on Community Announcements (StartToday)
