Feature showcase: Tutorial
Hey! It's been a while since the last update! After Next Fest, I wrote about how much the game needed a proper introduction to its controls and mechanics. Today, I'd like to show you the new guided tutorial in Moons That Belong! You start with your home system, Solara, on a small training map. Each lesson gives you something to try, with objectives and visual guides showing where to send your fleets and which controls to use. Here's what it teaches: Moving around the map and reading a system's population and production. Sending fleets to survey and claim new systems. Deploying half your units so you can keep a reserve behind. Setting up supply routes through several systems, cancelling them, and restoring them. Defending against an incoming attack and sending a group of fleets to capture an enemy system. Understanding battle damage and resupplying the territory you have captured. This is the first expansion lesson. The guides show the drag from Solara to Aster, and the objectives update once your order is sent and your fleet begins surveying. If you need another look, there's a Show me button and the option to retry the current step. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45118883/7fb8b007c0d3ac73fe755fd36e6bd62f17dd7315.png Later, you'll connect your growing territory with supply routes. Here, units travel from Solara through Aster to Haven. You'll also practise stopping and restoring that route before moving on to defence and a coordinated attack. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45118883/1c6b65acea9678e8ffd7741a6fee97069c8e2d96.png Once you finish, you can continue straight into a battle against the AI on the same map, keeping the systems and supply routes you've built. Contextual hints and the H-key reference are there to help during ordinary matches, too. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45118883/fa32f4ad31ea9659233f224871693873680b0301.png And yes, the demo is getting new features again! It will be updated very soon with upgraded graphics, new gameplay features, and the tutorial itself. I'll post another an...Read full article on Community Announcements (v4.games s. r. o.)AnnouncementsOfficial
Thank you!
Hey there, everyone! I would love to thank you all on behalf of v4.games for trying out our little demo for Moons That Belong! We're incredibly thankful for all the feedback and that you found time to try it out! The Next Fest has given us an excellent lesson and helped us understand better how to improve the game even further. We have a list of key points we will try to address within our game moving forward, and we are committed to making these improvements: Tutorial campaign and play instructions: Unfortunately, we did not manage to get any decent form of tutorial into our game, so you've been met with fundamental hints displayed and no instructions on how various mechanics work at all. Such a state doesn't seem right, and we aim to change it. Our goal is to ensure mechanics seem simple enough to understand and that anybody can hop in and go through onboarding missions to get settled in at a slower pace. Performance optimizations and crash handling: Sadly, our game did not go without issues. There have been reports of crashes, namely those related to our shaders. The game also pushes hard on low-end GPUs due to special effects we've authored. Since the demo's release, we've managed to fix several client crashes and have reinforced some problematic bits of code related to our rendering code. Still, we aim to improve our game further, especially as we further develop and innovate our in-house game engine. Audio-visual feedback: Late game sucks, we know. Nothing is worse than constantly observing several frontlines to ensure the enemy has yet to leak into our realm. We pledge to fix that by implementing audio and visual cues for various events and shortcuts to jump between locations. The systems outliner will also give you full details about your systems and inform you if attacks do happen. More variety and gameplay features: At its core, the game's premise is straightforward: push units through enemy lines, hit supply lines, and ensure their realm breaks apart when...Read full article on Community Announcements (zak)Patch NotesOfficial

Feature showcase: Systems outliner
Hey! I'd like to show you a brand new UI widget that just got implemented in Moons That Belong: The systems outliner! It allows you to have a better control over your systems and makes it easier to spot if any of the systems are currently under fire or just overcrowded. The list of features: Outliner lists out all their systems with their current units/max units and production/max production cap values. In case there's something going on within your system besides unit production, the outliner will show you a trait icon and the border will flash for you to notice. Ability to sort systems by various stats or properties. You can click on system's portrait to jump to it. This is a screenshot of the UI from my recent gameplay session: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45118883/c465ebae81383d4e2f5e06b6d0946ac370fc7b68.png With all that, I'm sure you've noticed systems have names now. Would you like to see how these look like on the map itself? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45118883/180a8e19e96f9db122f300fe0ee5bdb1a3b14824.jpg This has been exciting to work on, I can't wait to bring you more later on! Demo feature freeze
Hey, Demo features will now be frozen and any subsequent updates will only be made to the upcoming (release date TBA) EA release. We will still provide patches for bug fixing and performance improvement purposes. And with that, I'd like to share some news for the EA version: - Devastation now affects prod cap, max units and attrition (from 60% onwards) - Visual pass for devastation - Reworked core production code entirely (no balancing changes) - Improved the battle system so that battles close to a system affect its devastation stat - Small AI pacing improvements {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45118883/122a9673beebadbf8dcade8c13c76fb3dde2d2b9.pngRead full article on Community Announcements (zak)
