About this game

Welcome to Mazes and Labyrinths, a deceptively difficult single screen puzzle game set in the fantasy world of Antinomia. Play as Will and Ari as you battle the prophet Sybilla and the invading Omniety, an alien being reshaping the planet to its whims. Use your wits, powers, and even the enemies themselves to find an exit to every maze and save Antinomia and its people from certain destruction.

Created by OnlineVideoSurfer, Mazes and Labyrinths features over 70 puzzles in the main campaign plus a robust level editor to make and play your own levels. For more dedicated players, most levels also feature a bonus medal to truly test your ability to break the game. The goal is an almost arcade-puzzle experience, with short, bite-sized levels and simple graphics that nevertheless disguise deeply complex, rule-based design. Learning the intricacies of the powerups, the enemies, and the full implications of your abilities is essential to both mastering the campaign and making your own mazes for others.

There are no pay to win mechanics, no in-game currencies, nor any other monetization features to diminish the game. This is a free game made by one person for anyone that wants challenging yet thoughtful puzzles or desires to make their own levels.

Persevere and overcome the challenges and you will hopefully find a rewarding puzzle game that, by the endgame, will push your reasoning to its limits. For everyone that tries, I wish you luck.

    Mazes and Labyrinths Version 1.04

This update fixes two issues to help make the game more compatible for Steam Deck users and players that only use a gamepad. - In the control settings under options, you can no longer force the game to switch to a keyboard if you do not actually have a keyboard connected to play the game. There is now a sanity check where you need to confirm the switch with a keyboard press first. This eliminates a situation where you would be forced to restart the game if you did not have a keyboard connected to your Steam Deck or computer. - A bug where you could add undefined characters with a gamepad to a file name when saving a custom maze in the editor, leading to a crash once you confirmed the undefined characters, has been fixed.

    Mazes and Labyrinths Version 1.03

Just a small update. This patch fixes a bug where, if you're using a controller to play the game, the code that read the data for custom controller information would duplicate the first digit of the ID value associated with the left button, creating an invalid ID. This would force a player to either restore control defaults, manually customize the buttons, or switch to keyboard. This patch fixes this small but annoying bug.

    Mazes and Labyrinths Version 1.02

Hello everyone. Version 1.02 of Mazes and Labyrinths adds in a new video option to reduce flashing lights, removes a bug that could freeze the game, and corrects a small graphical text error in cropped mode. 1. Version 1.02 adds in an option to reduce flashing lights in the video menu. Just go into Options then select Video when you start the game to see it. This option will reduce the flashing lights associated with one enemy and alters a cutscene near the end of the game to make the color changing less intense. For most players I recommend keeping this option off. 2. This version fixes a bug where you could inadvertently load the pause menu when wall phasing or teleporting. Depending on when you loaded the menu you could freeze the game in previous versions. This bug should now be corrected for 1.02. 3. Finally, this version fixes a small text alignment error. If you skipped the medal fanfare or opening cutscene while in cropped mode, the countdown text would be slightly cut off. Version 1.02 realigns the text's vertical alignment to display properly in both cropped and non-cropped video modes.

    Notes for version 1.01

Small update. Version 1.01 adds cropped mode to the video options in order to provide additional support for those playing the game at 720p. Cropped mode is a rather blunt tool, cropping the top and bottom 24 rows of pixels to reduce the default viewing area from 768 pixels to 720 pixels. Menus are also updated so that text above and below this range are not cut off. This is not an ideal mode for most players as the reduced size of the viewing area means small portions of the levels will no longer be visible. Still, if you have a 720p monitor or need the display locked to 720p for any reason (typically for streaming or videos), this is often the lesser evil as it will let you play the game without distorting the graphics. It may also help for upscaling the graphics on larger monitors as well. Full list of changes: - Cropped Mode added to Video Options - Sprite updates for the rapids in the overworld - Error for the wrong name for Ari being pulled for the ending fanfare removed
