About this game

After being asked to stay late to close up the restaurant for the night, the employees of the "Masked Munchies" restaurant chain find themselves in a dire situation as they have to survive being attacked by paranormal beings. Uncover more about each entity and the reason why you are being attacked by these ghosts as you try to escape this waking nightmare. You do not have to deal with it alone as you can team up with at least 3 other employees in hopes that you can find safety in numbers.
Gameplay

Grab cleaning items and clean up messes to earn money that you can use at different soda machines that give you passive and active abilities to help you survive. When you complete a level, the remaining money will be added to your player total and you can use that to purchase characters. Choose which level and difficulty you wish to play on and survive the attacks of the ghosts.
Characters
Unlock more characters to choose from and play as them in levels. More characters will be added for free following the game’s release.
Co-op

The game can be played with 1-4 players. You will work together to clean up the restaurant and survive.
The Ghosts

As you clean the restaurant, you will encounter paranormal beings that will get increasingly aggressive as time goes on. You will have to think on your feet and be cautious if you want to make it out alive.

Engine Upgrade (?) and update progress
What's going on everybody? A few weeks ago something strange happened to the project, I don't know if there was an issue with my computer or with the engine or what it was but there was an issue that was no longer allowing me to open the project in the engine that I was using. So I made the decision to upgrade the engine from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5! It was something that I was debating on for a few years and for a while I figured it was best to stick to the engine version that the game had been in development with for the longest but with issue that happened a few days ago, I went ahead and made the switch. What does that mean for I Want To Go Home?Upgrading the engine means that I now have access to all the features that have been added to Unreal Engine since 4.27 up to now so I may be able to do things with this project that I wasn't able to do before (or that it would've been more difficult to do). I am still getting a feel for the change and still fixing any holes left from the transfer but overall I think this is a positive for the game! With that being said there are a few hiccups. The biggest one right now is that the performance has taken a big hit, I am not sure why and I am hoping that it is just an editor thing but I am working on it because I want to make sure the game runs smoothly. I will also be doing a lot more playtesting and debugging to find as many thing that may not be working as intended because of setting changes and additions in the engine. Well, the journey just got more interesting folks but also a lot more fun! Stay tuned!Read full article on Community Announcements (Golden Sword Games)Patch NotesOfficial
I Want To Go Home Content Update 1 Announcement Update!
A NEW UPDATE???What's going on everybody? I've been a bit quiet with what's going on with the game but I've really been taking my time to make sure this next update elevates the game to the best it can be. I've learned more about multiplayer game development (and game development in general) since the last update and I've gone back over 4 (going on 5) years of work and doing my best to improve both the game and my workflow so that I can start rolling out content and bug fix updates more frequently. It hasn't been easy but the just the improvement itself is worth it. I want you all to know that the game is very much alive in still in active development and will continue to be until all of the intended content is in the game. Very soon there will be more info with what's new with the game and where I plan on taking things but for now, just know that the game has changed a lot for the better and you will be hearing much more from me and I Want To Go Home very soon! - P.S. the next update's patch notes is going to be very long so be prepared for that!Read full article on Community Announcements (Golden Sword Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
What's going on with the game?
Took some extra time to work on the content update and it has been well worth it! I've overhauled and added a lot of things in the game, changed the controls just a bit and fixed a lot of code. The ghosts can now hear the players actions and I've been working on distraction items and other things that can make noise, that is still being ironed out. Blood has been added to the game too and I'm planning on doing more with that too. That's just a few things I could think of off the top of my headThere's so much that is going to change in the game with the next update and I'm really excited! Bug fixes and gameplay changes update
Since the last update, I've been looking at feedback and continuing to playtest to find ways to improve the game before the upcoming content update! In this update there were a lot of bug fixes such as: - Game over event now working properly - Chase Music bug is now fixed (no longer infinitely playing in multiplayer) - Save game bug - Multiplayer menu bug - Many More! There were also many adjustments to the gameplay and overall look and feel of the game such as: - Jumping - Item counters and icons on the HUD when players pick up objects - Adjusted cleaning time for the mop (from 20 seconds to 15 seconds) - Updated visuals (for "ghost trap" ability and player ghost) - Updated visuals and audio for "ghost drain" ability. If there are any bugs or glitches you encounter please reach out and let me know about it!Read full article on Community Announcements (Golden Sword Games)
