    Anathyma Dev Diary #7

Hello everyone!Last time, we introduced three Modern Towers focused on damaging enemies directly. Today, we are looking at a different way of controlling the battlefield: Towers that produce their own Units, and the Mobile HQ that supports them as they advance.BarracksThe Barracks regularly drafts Infantry to reinforce the front. These riflemen engage enemies from a distance before closing in with their bayonets. Its three upgrade paths improve Unit Damage, Unit Health, and the maximum number of active Units.FactoryThe Factory builds Tanks at a much slower pace, but every Tank is a powerful frontline asset. Their heavy armor, frontal machine guns, and rotating cannons allow them to lead advances that lighter Units could not survive. The Factory can improve their Damage and Defense, and reduce the time needed to produce each one.AirfieldThe Airfield produces Airplanes capable of fighting in both parts of the battlefield. Their machine guns engage hostile aircraft, while their bombs strike enemies on the ground below. Its upgrade paths focus on its machine gun for air combat, its bombing capabilities for ground combat, and general unit survivability.Mobile HQThe Mobile HQ serves to support Unit-focused defense compositions. It increases the Damage and Defense of nearby allied Units, making it especially effective alongside a combined force from several production buildings. As the frontline moves, it has the capability to pack up, travel to a new position, and unpack to resume supporting nearby Units. Its upgrades improve its durability and defensive support, offensive support, or aura range, and its Tier 5 upgrades unlocking Unit capabilities beyond their usual.Together, these Towers allow players to field a powerful army for an offensive, mobile style of defense, or to make powerful attacks into enemy towers in Breakthrough maps. That’s all for today. In the next diary, we will look at more defensive-focused Towers.

    Anathyma Dev Diary #6

Hello, and welcome to another Dev Diary for Anathyma. With the Modern unit roster now complete, it is time to turn our attention to the Towers that players will use to defend from these units. Modern Towers are generally stronger than Medieval ones, barring certain exceptions (like a 4-5-4 Arrow Tower that builds up enough Attack Speed) but they are also more expensive, both to build and upgrade. Introducing Modern Towers into your defense is a step you must eventually take to handle Modern enemies, but the transition is not simple. We begin with three dedicated combat Towers, each specializing in a different type of firepower:Machine Gun TowerThe Machine Gun Tower rapidly fires at nearby enemies, providing reliable sustained damage against approaching forces. This tower serves the same role as the Arrow Tower in the Medieval World, that of a cheap damage-dealing tower. Due to its large attack speed and low damage, it is not likely to overkill its targets by much, making it useful against both single targets and multiple enemies. Its three upgrade paths improve Damage, Attack Speed, and Accuracy, for a big focus on firepower. Its tier 5 upgrades offer a strategic option between maximizing damage or taking on a more supportive role.Artillery TowerThe Artillery Tower launches explosive shells over long distances, damaging groups of enemies caught within the explosion. Its Damage, Accuracy, and Range upgrade paths all work towards its long-range offensive capabilities, similarly to the Catapult Tower. Unlike the Catapult Tower however, the Artillery Tower is one of the more expensive damage-dealing Towers in the game, serving as the endgame anchor of a final defensive setup. One of its final upgrades unlocks gas shells that leave a lingering cloud that deals constant poison damage to biological enemies within the affected area.Sniper TowerThe Sniper Tower has slow yet powerful attacks. Its upgrade paths improve Damage, Piercing, and Range, fully focusing on maximizing it...

    Anathyma Dev Diary #5

Hello, and welcome to the fifth dev diary for Anathyma. In this one I will be revealing the final five units being added to the game.Ever since the height update, one thing we've wanted to add for a while was airborne units. Taking the fight beyond the ground, these units add a new dimension to fight in, requiring specialized anti-air solutions to fight them. The aerial aspect also gives them an avenue to attack in more dangerous ways.AirplaneAirplanes soar above the battlefield, making them immune to ground-based attacks. Equipped with a frontal machine gun for engaging enemy aircraft and bombs for striking ground targets, they are a versatile unit that can provide valuable air support while contesting control of the skies, though their light build makes them vulnerable to hostile fire.Transport PlaneBuilt to survive hostile airspace, the Transport Plane is heavier and more resilient than the airplane. The Transport Plane is extremely dangerous because it will attempt to deploy its paratrooper squad deep behind enemy lines, striking your most vulnerable backline towers instead of your frontal fortifications.ParatrooperParatroopers are elite infantry equipped with powerful submachine guns, making them highly effective in close-quarters combat. Dropped into battle by Transport Planes, they can deal massive damage if left unchecked.SPAATo fire back against airborne targets, the Self-Propelled Anti-Air provides mobile protection against enemy aircraft. It shares the same chassis as a Tank, with a frontal machine gun allows them to defend themselves against ground units, though the cannon has been replaced with a four-barrel anti-air cannon can quickly tear through airborne targets that enter its range.Anti-Tank GunJust like the SPAA is a unit-based anti-air option, the The Anti-Tank Gun is the unit that exists to counter heavily armored vehicles. Like the machinegunner, it must deploy before firing, but its powerful armor-piercing rounds pass through unarmored targets ...

    Anathyma Dev Diary #4

Hello, and welcome to the fourth dev diary for Anathyma. In this one I will be revealing three units from a new class of warfare. As teased in the previous diary, the time has come to add some horsepower to the roster. I'm talking about, of course, armored vehicles. Tanks, being far bulkier than foot soldiers, with high resistances to projectiles and frontal attacks in general, Tanks will prove to be the greatest threat to any defense, forcing players to invest in high-piercing Towers or Weapons.TankThe Tank is a resilient frontline vehicle designed to absorb punishment while supporting advancing forces. It takes reduced damage from all attacks coming from the front, combined with the capacity to deflect projectiles that strike at shallow angles. These two traits give it a considerable resilience against hostile fire. This resilience is then combined with a forward machine gun and a rotating cannon turret, making the tank excel at leading assaults through contested territory.Heavy TankThe Heavy Tank takes everything that makes the Tank effective and pushes it further. It boasts greater stats than the Tank across the board, except for movement speed, while also carrying the same features (frontal resistance, projectile deflection, frontal machine gun). In addition to its frontal machine gun, its cannon turret has a larger, more devastating caliber, and the Heavy Tank also carries a flamethrower for close-range infantry combat, and a second turret, armed with a machine gun, for even greater defensive flexibility. These additional weapons make the Heavy Tank one of the strongest units in a direct confrontation.Self-Propelled GunBut direct confrontations are not the only way to fight, and there's no greater example of this than the Self-Propelled Gun. It trades versatility for overwhelming long-range firepower. While it possesses armor comparable to a Heavy Tank and retains a frontal machine gun for self-defense, the remaining armaments have all been sacked to make room ...

    Anathyma Dev Diary #3

Hello, and welcome to the third dev diary for Anathyma. In this one I will be revealing the final three foot soldier units coming in the next update. While the previous diary talked about units with more unique styles of combat, these units are mostly about raw power, meant to break your defenses with pure force.GuardThe Guard is a direct upgrade over regular infantry (despite being equipped with chronologically older clothes), with better stats across the board. However, Guards' strength comes with numbers. When multiple Guards are nearby, they will coordinate their shots to fire in parallel. While this means that some of them would miss their shots, the resulting wave of bullets is far harder to dodge with normal movement when compared to regular predictive fire. This disciplined pattern is also a lot more bursty, and can catch players off-guard when a volley hits.CommandoCommandos are the second-strongest infantry unit in the game, with stats even greater than the Guard. The Commando remains camouflaged outside of combat, ensuring that he does not get hit by any stray projectiles until he can begin fighting himself. With his own camouflage detection, he can also catch any sneaky moves. In combat, the Commando fights with a knife and a 3-shot burst-fire pistol. While his attacks are short-ranged, they are also very fast to execute, so he is always repositioning, which can be difficult to deal with thanks to his erratic movement pattern.Elite CommandoThe Elite Commando is the strongest infantry unit in the game, and a major headache to deal with. His equipment is far stronger than the Commando, as he carries an assault rifle and a machete, hitting much harder than the Commando. Like the Commando, he has out-of-combat camouflage and can detect camouflage. However, the major difference between the two is that the Elite Commando has one more ability, throwing smoke grenades. Smoke camouflages all units inside it, which would be net neutral, but since the Elite Commando...
