The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (Nintendo Switch 2) Performance Review

Ever since I reviewed the Nintendo Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, two of the games I wanted most on Nintendo’s hybrid handheld have been Fallout: New Vegas and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It’s always been my opinion that Oblivion has been the best entry in the series, taking the depth of quests and storytelling from previous games and building it around a pretty solid game engine for a truly engaging experience. Finally, my prayers had been answered during the February Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase when The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, and while I would’ve been happy to return to the original Cyrodiil, getting to experience it in what is a pretty impressive remaster was still a welcome alternative. However, this particular port has left me somewhat conflicted. While it’s still the same great game I remember, it doesn’t feel nearly up to the current standard. In terms of a Nintendo Switch 2 port, The ... Read more

After giving it 2 patches and dropping it like a stone, Bethesda promises to bring Switch 2 optimisations to Oblivion Remastered on other platforms

Oblivion Remastered has led a rather odd post-release life. The closest we've got to a new Elder Scrolls since 2011 released in April last year, received a fair amount of acclaim, then essentially went silent. It twitched into activity a couple of times in the months following its release for patches 1.1 and 1.2, but since then? Nada, and the game still has its fair share of performance woes and missing quality-of-life features... Read more.

I enjoyed this video of Oblivion Remastered actor Wes Johnson goofing around in a sound booth dressed as Sheogorath, but a patch for the PC version would be nice too, Bethesda

Oblivion Remastered releases on Nintendo Switch 2 in August, which normally would be wholly irrelevant to PC Gamer. We've been merrily exploring revamped Cyrodiil for well over a year at this point. But you might want to hide your stealth archer in the corner of whatever dungeon you're exploring and check out Bethesda's latest promotional video for the Switch 2 launch. It's a little different from the usual fare of game footage and dramatic voiceovers... Read more.

Sure would be great if Oblivion Remastered got patched on PC to coincide with the Switch 2 release

Oblivion Remastered is coming to the Switch 2 on August 11, as Bethesda announced with a trailer featuring a live-action Adoring Fan that conveniently shows as little gameplay as they can get away with. I would love it if, after all the work that's presumably gone into getting it to run on the Switch 2, the PC version saw just a little more love... Read more.

How to complete Canvas the Castle in Oblivion Remastered and uncover the guilty art thief

Canvas the Castle is a classic whodunnit quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered where you'll track down an art thief in Chorrol. The investigation really doesn't hold your hand with hints or quest steps, so you'll have to do some extra snooping to uncover the truth... Read more.
